\nWARNINGRisk of injuryor death whenthePASSENGER AIRBAG OFF indicatorlamp is lit
IfthePASSENGER AIRBAG OFF indicatorlampremains lit afterthe system self-test,the front passenger air bag is deactivated. Itwill not be deployed intheevent of an acci‐dent. Inthis case,the front passenger air bagcannotperformits intended protective func‐tion, e.g. when a person is seated inthe frontpassenger seat.
That person could,forexample, come intocontact with thevehicle interior, especially ifthe person is sittingtoo closetothe cockpit.
Ifthe front passenger seat is occupied,always ensurethat:
RThe classification ofthe person inthefront passenger seat is correct andthefront passenger air bag is enabled ordeactivated in accordance withthe per‐son inthe front passenger seat.
RThe person is seated properlywith a cor‐rectlyfastened seat belt.
RThe front passenger seat has been movedasfar back as possible.

PRE-SAFE®(anticipatoryoccupant protec‐tion)
PRE-SAFE®is abletodetect certain critical driv‐ing situations and implement pre-emptive meas‐urestoprotectthevehicle occupants.
PRE-SAFE®can implementthefollowing meas‐ures independently of eachother:
RTighteningthe seat belts onthe driver's seatand front passenger seat.
RClosingthe side windows.
RVehicles with sliding sunroof:Closingthesliding sunroof.
RVehicles with memory function:Movingthe front passenger seattoa morefavorableseat position.
RVehicles with multicontour seat:Increas‐ingthe air pressure inthe seat side bolstersofthe seat backrest.
RPRE-SAFE®Sound: providedthatthe multi‐media system is switched on,generates abrief noise signaltostimulatethe innate pro‐tective mechanism of a person's hearing.
NOTEDamagecausedbyobjects inthefootwell or behindthe seat
The automatic adjustment ofthe seat posi‐tion mayresult in damagetothe seat and/orthe object.
Stowobjects in a suitable place.

When opening a side window,parts ofthebody could be drawn in or become trappedbetweenthe side window and window frame.
When opening, make surethat nobodyistouchingthe side window.
Releasethe button immediately ifsomebody becomes trapped.
Press and holdthe6button ontheSmartKey.
Thefollowing functions are performed:
RThevehicle is unlocked.
RThe side windowsare opened.
RThe panoramic sliding sunroof is opened.
RThe seatventilation ofthe driver's seat isswitched on.
Iftheroller sunblinds ofthe panoramic slidingsunroof are closed,theroller sunblinds areopenedfirst.
Tointerruptconvenience opening:releasethe6button.
Tocontinue convenience opening:pressand holdthe6button again.
Convenience closing (closingthevehiclefrom outside)

Whenthe convenience closingfeature isoperating, parts ofthe body could becometrapped inthe closing area ofthe side win‐dow andthe sliding sunroof.
Observethe completeclosing proce‐durewhen using convenience closing.
When closing, makesurethat no bodyparts are inthe closing area.
Press and holdthe7button ontheSmartKey.

Rain closing function when drivingVehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:Ifitstartstorain,theraised sliding sunroof is
automatically lowered whilethevehicle is inmotion.
Automatic lowering functionVehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:Ifthe sliding sunroof israised attherear, it isautomatically lowered slightly at higher speeds.Atlow speeds, it israised again automatically.
\nWARNINGRisk of entrapmentbyauto‐matic lowering ofthe sliding sunroof
Athigh speedstheraised sliding sunroofautomatically lowersslightly attherear.
This could trapyou orother persons.
Make surethat nobodyreaches intothesweep ofthe sliding sunroof whilstthevehicle is in motion.
If somebody becomes trapped, brieflypushthe sliding sunroof buttonfor‐wards or backwards.The sliding sunroof lifts during opening.

Thevehicle could be damagedbyroofrackswhich havenot beentested and approvedbyMercedes-Benz.
Only useroofrackstested andapprovedbyMercedes-Benz.
Depending onthevehicle equipment,ensurethat whentheroofrackis instal‐led:RThe sliding sunroof can be fullyraised.
RThe trunk lid can be fully opened.
Positionthe load ontheroofrackinsuch awaythatthevehicle will not sus‐tain damageeven when it is in motion.
NOTEDamagetothe sliding sunroofwhen aroofrackis installed
The sliding sunroof may be damagedbytheroofrackifyou attempttoopen it whentheroofrackis installed.
Do not openthe sliding sunroof whentheroofrackis installed.
In ordertoallowventilation ofthevehicleinterior,you canraisethe sliding sunroof.
NOTEDamagetothe covers
The coversmay be damaged and scratchedwhen being opened.
Do not use metallic or hard objects.
Carefullyfold covers1upwards inthedirection ofthe arrow.
Securetheroofracktothe anchorage pointsunder covers1.
