Ac tive Parking Assist is an electronic parking
assistance system, which uses ultrasound with
th e assistance of there ve rsing camera and 360°
Camera. When you are driving forw ards up to
appr oximately 35 km/h, the system automatically
measures parking spaces on bo thsides of the
ve hicle.
Ac tive Parking Assist o.ers thefo llowing func-
tions:
Ve hicles with reve rsing camera
R Parking in parking spaces parallel tothero ad
Ve hicles with 360° Camera
R Parking in parking spaces parallel tothero ad
R Parking in parking spaces perpendicular tothe
ro ad (optionally either forw ards or reve rse) R

de tected as such due tomarkings (for example
at thero adside)
R Exiting parking spaces if you ha vepar ked
using Active Parking Assist
As soon as all requ irements are met for sear ching
fo r parking spaces, theÇ display appears in
th e Instrument Displa y.
When Active Parking Assist has de tected parking
spaces, theÈ display appears in the Instru-
ment Displa y.The ar rows show on which side of
th ero ad de tected parking spaces are located.
They are then shown in the media displa y.

location of the parking space, the parking direc-
tion (rear wards or forw ards) can also be selected
as desired. When
Active Parking Assist is activated, the turn
signal indicators are activated based on the calcu-
lated path of your vehicle.
The parking procedu reis assisted byaccelerating,
braking, steering and gear changes.
Ac tive Parking Assist is only an aid. It is not a sub-
stitute foryo ur attention tothe surroundings. The
re sponsibility for safe manoeuvring and parking
re mains with you. Make sure that no persons, ani-
mals or objects etc. are in the manoeuvring
ra nge.
Ac tive Parking Assist will be cancelled in thefo l-
lowing situations:
R Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is deactivated.
R You begin steering.
R You engage transmission position j.
R ESP ®

R You open the driver's door.

% You can stop theve hicle and change the
transmission position during the parking pro-
cedure. The system then calculates a new
ve hicle path. If no new vehicle path is availa-
ble, the transmission position can be changed
again, or the process can be cancelled.

The manoeuvring brake function can pr event colli-
sions with pedestrians when theve hicle is reve rs-
ing at slow speeds. If there ve rsing camera
de tects a person in theve hicle path, theve hicle
can be braked toa standstill.
The manoeuvring brake function can inter vene
under thefo llowing conditions:
R The vehicle is reve rsing at a speed slo werth an
10 km/h. R
The camera image is shown in the media dis-
play (/ page 231).
Yo u can activate and deactivate the manoeuvring
brake function in theManoeuvring assistance
menu (/ page 242).

ailer Manoeuv ring Assist assists you when
re ve rsing with a trailer. Using there ve rsing cam-
era, it monitors the articulation angle between the
ve hicle and trailer and adjusts it toa speci/ed
va lue. Trailer Manoeuv ring Assist also limits your
speed.
Tr ailer Manoeuv ring Assist is only an aid. It is not
a substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur round-
