Center seat backrest: if the seat backrest is not
engaged and locked, the red lock veriNcation indi-
cator will be visible.
Requirements
= The rear seat backrest head restraints are fully
inserted.
You can fold the center and outer seat backrests forwards separately.Vehicles with a memory function: If at least
one section of the rear seat backrest is folded
forwards, the corresponding front seat will
move forwards slightly, if necessary, to avoid a
collision.To fold the les and right seat backrests for-
wards: pull release lever 1.To fold the center seat backrest forwards: pull
release catch 3 of seat backrest 2 for-
wards.Fold the corresponding seat backrest for-

qFolding back the rear seat backrest*NOTE Damage caused by trapping the
seat belt when folding back the seat back-
rest
The seat belt could become trapped and thus
damaged when the seat backrest is folded
back.
Make sure that the seat belt is not trap-
ped when folding back the seat backrest.Vehicles with a memory function: If at least
one part of the seat backrest in the rear
passenger compartment is folded back, the
corresponding front seat will automatically
return to the most recent original position.Fold the corresponding seat backrest 1 back
until it engages.
Les and right seat backrests: if the seat back-
rest is not engaged and locked in place, this
will be shown on the multifunction display on
the instrument cluster.
Center seat backrest: if the seat backrest is
not engaged and locked, red lock veriNcation
indicator 2 will be visible.qLocking the release catch of the center rear
seat backrest
Requirements: = The les and center seat backrests are
engaged and joined together.
You can lock the center seat backrest release
catch if you want to secure the trunk against
unauthorized access. The center seat backrest
can then only be folded forwards together with

Fold the center and les seat backrests for-
wards.To lock or unlock: slide catch 1 upwards or
downwards.

If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open storage spaces and mobile
phone brackets cannot always retain all
objects they contain.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
Always stow objects in such a way that
they cannot be thrown around in such
situations.Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from storage spaces, parcel
nets or storage nets.Close the lockable storage spaces before
starting a journey.Always stow and secure heavy, hard,
pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky

Attaching a roof luggage rack&WARNING Risk of accident due to exceed-
ing the maximum roof load
The vehicle center of gravity and the usual
driving characteristics as well as the steering
and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driv-
ing characteristics, as well as steering and braking, will be greatly impaired.
Never exceed the maximum roof load
and adjust your driving style.You will Nnd information on the maximum roof
load in the "Technical data" section.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to not
observing the maximum permitted head-
room clearance
If the vehicle height is greater than the maxi- mum permitted headroom clearance, the roof
and other parts of the vehicle may be dam-
aged.
Observe the signposted headroom clear- ance.If the vehicle height is greater than the permitted headroom clearance, do not
enter.Observe the changed vehicle height with add-on roof equipment.*NOTE Vehicle damage from non-approved
roof luggage racks
The vehicle could be damaged by roof luggage
racks that have not been tested and approved
for Mercedes-Benz.
Use only roof luggage racks tested and
approved for Mercedes-Benz.Depending on the vehicle equipment,
ensure that the sliding sunroof can be
fully raised when the roof luggage rack is
installed.Depending on the vehicle equipment,
ensure that the trunk lid can be fullyopened when the roof luggage rack is
installed.Position the load on the roof luggage
rack in such a way that the vehicle will
not sustain damage even when it is in
motion.*NOTE Damage to the sliding sunroof when
a roof luggage rack is installed
If the sliding sunroof is opened when a roof
luggage rack is installed, the sliding sunroof may be damaged by the roof luggage rack.
Do not open the sliding sunroof if a roofluggage rack is installed.
The sliding sunroof may be raised to allow ven-
tilation of the vehicle interior.

The covers may be damaged and scratched
when being opened.
Do not use metallic or hard objects.Carefully fold covers 1 upwards in the direc-
tion of the arrow.Secure the screws of the screw-on roof lug- gage rack to the fastening points beneath cov-
ers 1 in compliance with the installation
instructions of the roof luggage rack manufac- turer.Secure the load on the roof luggage rack.
Sockets
Using the 12 V socket
Requirements
= Only connect devices up to a maximum of
180 W (15 A).
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle has a 12 V socket in the stowage compartment in
the front center console. In addition, depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle has a 12 V
socket in the stowage compartment in the rear passenger compartment center console.Example: 12 V socket in the stowage compartmentin the front center console
BrieOy press the trim element of the cover on
the front.
The cover will open in the direction of the
arrow.Lis up cap 1 of the socket and insert the
plug of the device.
If you have connected a device to the 12 V
socket, leave the cover of the stowage compart-
ment open.

USB port in the rear passenger compartment
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has the following USB ports in the rear passenger
compartment:
= In the front storage compartment
= In the storage compartment under the front
armrest
= In the rear center console
= In the storage compartment in the rear arm-
rest
\bDepending on the vehicle equipment, the
design of the storage compartment and the number of USB ports in the rear center con-
sole may vary.
When the vehicle is switched on, you can charge a USB device, such as a mobile phone, at USB ports
using a suitable charging cable.
When the vehicle is switched on, the devices can
be charged with 5 V (up to 3 A).

Do not place credit cards, storage
media, ski passes or other objects sensi-
tive to electromagnetic Nelds in the
mobile phone storage compartment.*NOTE Damage to the mobile phone stow-

If liquids enter the mobile phone stowage
compartment, the compartment may be dam-
aged.
Ensure that no liquids enter the mobile phone stowage compartment.
= Depending on the vehicle equipment, the
mobile phone is connected to the vehicle\bs exterior antenna via the charging module.
= The charging function and wireless connection
of the mobile phone to the vehicle\bs exterior
antenna are only available if the vehicle is
switched on.
= It may not be possible to charge small mobile
phones in every part of the mobile phone
stowage compartment.
= It may not be possible to charge large mobile
phones that do not rest Oat in the mobile
phone stowage compartment or connect them to the vehicle\bs exterior antenna.
= The mobile phone may heat up during the
charging process. The mobile phone can be
cooled in the mobile phone stowage compart-
ment when the air conditioning system is switched on. The cooling output in the mobile
phone stowage compartment is highest when the controller in the glove compartment is
closed.
= To ensure more ePcient charging and connec-
tion with the vehicle\bs exterior antenna,
remove the protective cover from the mobile phone.
= When charging, the mat should be used if pos-
sible.
Charging a mobile phone wirelessly
Requirements
= The mobile phone is suitable for wireless
charging (Qi-compatible mobile phone).
A list of Qi-compatible mobile phones can be
found at: https://www.mercedes-benz-
mobile.com.Place the mobile phone as close to the center of mat 1 as possible with the display facing
upwards.
When the charging symbol is shown in the
multimedia system, the mobile phone is being
charged.
Malfunctions during the charging process are
shown on the central display.\bThe mat can be removed for cleaning, e.g.

Installing and removing the Ooor mats&WARNING Risk of accident due to objects
in the driver\bs footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell may impede
pedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell.Always install the Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always suPcient room for the
pedals.Do not use loose Ooor mats and do not

Exterior lighting
Information about lighting systems and yourresponsibility
The various lighting systems of the vehicle are
only aids. The driver of the vehicle is responsible
for correct vehicle illumination in accordance with the prevailing light and visibility conditions, legal
requirements and traPc situation.

When low beam is activated, the ` indicator
lamp for the side lamps will be deactivated and
replaced by the X low-beam indicator lamp.
Always park your vehicle safely using suPcient

Operating the standing lights over a period of
hours puts a strain on the battery.
Where possible, switch on the right d
or les c parking light.
If the battery is insuPciently charged, the side
lamps or parking lights will be switched oM auto-
matically to facilitate the next engine start.
