Protection of the environment
+ ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE
En vironmental
damage due to operating conditions and
personal driving style Operate your vehicle in an environmentally
r
esponsible manner to help protect the envi-
ronment. Please observe the following recom-
mendations on operating conditions and per-
sonal driving style.
Operating conditions:
Make sure that the tyre pressure is cor-
r

ect.
Do not carry any unnecessary weight
(e.g. r

oof luggage racks once you no lon-
ger need them).
Monitor energy consumption.
Adhere to the service intervals.
A r
egularly serviced vehicle will contrib-
ute to environmental protection.
Always have maintenance work carried
out at a q

ualiNed specialist workshop. Personal driving style:

Drive carefully and maintain a suitable
dis

tance from the vehicle in front.
Avoid frequent, sudden acceleration and
br
aking.
Drive in a way that conserves energy.
Obser

ve the ECO display for an economi-
cal driving style. +
ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE

pollution caused by irresponsible disposal
of the high-voltage battery A high-voltage battery contains materials
whic

h are harmful to the environment.
Dispose of faulty high-voltage batteries
at a q

ualiNed specialist workshop. Take-back of end-of-life vehicles
EU countr
ies only:
Mercedes-Benz will take back your end-of-life
vehicle for environment-friendly disposal in accordance with the European Union (EU) End-Of-
Lif
e Vehicles Directive.
A network of vehicle take-back points and dis-
mantlers has been established for you to return
your vehicle. You can leave it at any of these
points free of charge. This makes an important
contribution to closing the recycling circle and
conserving resources.
For further information about the recycling and
disposal of end-of-life vehicles, and the take-back
conditions, please visit the national Mercedes-

Operating safety
&
WARNING Risk of accident due t o mal-
functions or system failures
If you do not have the prescribed service/
maint
enance work or any required repairs car-
ried out, this could result in malfunctions or
system failures.
Always have the prescribed service and
maint
enance work as well any required
repairs carried out at a qualiNed special-
ist workshop. &
WARNING Risk of accident or injur
y due
to improper modiNcations to electronic
components
ModiNcations t
o electronic components, their
sosware or wiring can impair their functional-
ity and/or the functionality of other networked
components or safety-relevant systems.
This can endanger the vehicle's operating
safety.
You must not tamper with wiring, elec-
tr
onic components, or their sosware.
Always have work on electrical and elec-
tr

onic devices carried out at a qualiNed
specialist workshop. If you modify the on-board electronics, the gen-
er
al operating permit is rendered invalid.
Observe the "On-board electronics" section in
"Technical data".
* NOTE Im
pairment of the operating eP-
ciency of the vehicle or individual compo-
nents due to tampering with the on-board
electronics The vehicle is equipped by the manufacturer
wit

h various safety mechanisms that interact
with each other. If the system detects tampering with the on-
boar
d electronics due to an unauthorised
modiNcation of control units and/or their sos-
ware/data, this may have the following
eMects:
= Individual vehicle functions are (tempora-
rily) no longer operational.
= The overall vehicle is (temporarily) no lon-
ger operational.
Have the vehicle checked immediately at
a q

ualiNed specialist workshop and, if
necessary, reset to factory settings. *
NOTE Damag
e to the vehicle due to driv-
ing too fast and due to impacts to the
vehicle underbody and suspension com-
ponents In the following situations, in particular, there
is a r
isk of damage to the vehicle:
= the vehicle becomes grounded, e.g. on a
high kerb or an unpaved road General notes
25

=
t he vehicle is driven too fast over an obsta-
cle, e.g. a kerb, speed bump or pothole
= a heavy object strikes the underbody or
suspension components
In situations such as these, damage to the
body, underbody, suspension components,
wheels or tyres and high-voltage battery com-
ponents may not be visible. Components dam-
aged in this way can unexpectedly fail or, in
the case of an accident, may no longer absorb
the resulting force as intended.
Have the vehicle checked and repaired
immediat

ely at a qualiNed specialist
workshop.
or
If driving safety is impaired while con-
tinuing y

our journey, pull over and stop
the vehicle immediately, while paying
attention to road and traPc conditions,
and contact a qualiNed specialist work-
shop. Electric vehicles have an electric motor. The elec-
tr

ic motor's energy supply is provided by the high-
voltage on-board electrical system. &
DANGER Risk of deat
h and Nre due to
modiNed and/or damaged components of
the high-voltage on-board electrical sys-
tem
The vehicle's high-voltage on-board electrical
sy
stem is under high voltage. If you modify
component parts in the vehicle's high-voltage
on-board electrical system or touch damaged
component parts, you may be electrocuted. In
addition, modiNed and/or damaged compo-
nents may cause a Nre.
In the event of an accident or impact to the
vehicle underbody, components of the high-
voltage electrical system may be damaged
although the damage is not visible.
Never make any modiNcations t
o the
high-voltage on-board electrical system.
Do not switch on or use the vehicle if its
high-v
oltage on-board electrical system components have been
modiNed or dam-
ag
ed.
Never touch damaged components of
t

he high-voltage on-board electrical sys-
tem.
Aser an accident, do no
t touch any com-
ponents of the high-voltage on-board
electrical system.
Aser an accident, ha
ve the vehicle trans-
ported away.
Have the components of the high-voltage
on-boar
d electrical system checked at a
qualiNed specialist workshop and
replaced if necessary. The components of the vehicle's high-voltage on-
boar
d electrical system are marked with yellow
warning stickers. The cables of the high-voltage
on-board electrical system are orange. 26
General notes

High-voltage components that can become very
ho t are marked with an additional warning sticker: Vehicles with an electric motor generate
signiN-
cantl
y less driving noise than vehicles with com-
bustion engines.
Therefore the vehicle may not be heard by other
road users due to the signiNcantly reduced driving
noise.
It is for this reason that the vehicle is equipped
with a sound generator, which serves as an acous-
tic vehicle alerting system (AVAS). Notes on assembling the number plate on the
fr

ont licence plate holder
* NOTE Malfunctions and sy
stem failures
due to incorrect assembly of the licence
plate on the front licence plate holder If the licence plate is incorrectly assembled on
t

he front licence plate holder, sensors, cam-
eras or driving and safety systems may mal-
function or fail.
Observe the following points when assembling
the licence plate on the front licence plate
holder:
Assemble the licence plate directly on
t

he licence plate holder without advertis-
ing media or other holders.
Assemble the licence plate so that it
does no
t protrude above or to the side of
the licence plate adapter. Declarations of conformity and notes on driving
in diMer

ent countries Electromagnetic compatibility
The electromagnetic compatibility of the vehicle
com

ponents has been checked and certiNed
according to the currently valid version of Regula-
tion UN-R 10. General notes
