teristics as well as the steering and braking of
the vehicle.
Tyres without run-Oat characteristics: 
Do not drive with a Oat tyr
e.
Change the Oat tyr
e immediately with an
emergency spare wheel or spare wheel.
Alternatively, consult a qualiNed special-
ist workshop.
Tyres with r
un-Oat characteristics:
Observe the information and warning

tes on MOExtended tyres (run-Oat
tyres). In the event of a Oat
tyr
e, the following options are
available depending on your vehicle's equipment:
= Vehicles with MOExtended tyres: it is possible
to continue the journey for a short period of
time. Make sure you observe the notes on
MOExtended tyres (run-Oat tyres)
( page 318).
= Vehicles with a TIREFIT kit: you can repair the
tyre so that it is possible to continue the jour-
ney for a short period of time. To do this, use
the TIREFIT kit ( page 320).
= Vehicles with Mercedes me connect: you can
make a call for breakdown assistance via the
overhead control panel in the case of a break-
down (  page 279).
= All vehicles: change the wheel (  page 345). Notes on MOExtended tyres

limp-home mode
Driving in emergency mode impairs the han-
dling c
haracteristics of the vehicle. 
Do not exceed the permissible maximum
speed of t
he MOExtended tyres. 
Avoid any abrupt steering and driving
manoeuvr
es as well as driving over
obstacles (kerbs, pot holes, oM-road).
This applies, in particular, to a loaded
vehicle. 
Stop driving in the emergency mode if
y

ou notice:
= banging noise
= v

ehicle vibration
= smoke which smells like rubber
= continuous ESP n
intervention
= cracks in the tyre sidewalls

workshop with regard to their further

With MOExtended tyres
(r un-Oat tyres), you can
continue to drive your vehicle even if there is a
total loss of pressure in one or more tyres. How-
ever, the tyre aMected must not show any clearly
visible damage.
You can recognise MOExtended tyres by the
MOExtended marking which appears on the side
wall of the tyre.
Vehicles with tyre pressure monitoring system:
MOExtended tyres may only be used in conjunc-
tion with an activated tyre pressure monitoring
system.
If a pressure loss warning message appears in the
driver's display, proceed as follows:
= Check the tyre for damage.
= If driving on, observe the following notes. Driving distance possible in emergency mode

Fully laden 30 km The driving distance possible in emergency mode

y vary depending on the driving style. Observe
the maximum permissible speed of 80 km/h.
If a tyre has gone Oat and cannot be replaced with
an MOExtended tyre, you can use a standard tyre
as a temporary measure. TIREFIT kit storage location

At a distance of approximately 1 m to the tyre
inOation com
pressor and approximately 1.6 m
above the ground, the following sound pres-
sure levels apply:

The tyre inOation compressor is maintenance-
free. If there is a malfunction, please contact
a qualiNed specialist workshop. Using the TIREFIT kit

TIREFIT kit storage location: ( page 319) You can use TIREFIT tyre sealant to seal perfora-

the tyre contact surface. You can use TIREFIT in
outside temperatures down to -20 °C. &
WARNING Risk of accident when using
tyr
e sealant
The tyre sealant may be unable to seal the
tyr
e properly, especially in the following cases:
= there are large cuts or punctures in the
tyre (larger than damage previously men-
tioned)
= the wheel rims have been damaged
= aser journeys with very low tyre pressure
or with Oat tyres 
Do not continue driving.

WARNING Risk of injur
y and poisoning
from tyre sealant
Tyre sealant is hazardous to health and causes
ir
ritation. Do not allow it to come into contact with your skin, eyes or clothing, and do not
sw

allow it. Do not inhale any vapours. Keep
the tyre sealant away from children.
Observe the following if you come into contact
with the tyre sealant: 
Rinse oM t
he tyre sealant from your skin
using water immediately. 
If tyre sealant gets into your eyes, thor-
oughl

y rinse them using clean water
immediately. 
If tyre sealant has been swallowed, thor-
oughl
y rinse out your mouth immediately
and drink plenty of water. Do not induce
vomiting and seek medical attention
immediately. 
Change out of clothing which has come
int

o contact with tyre sealant immedi-
ately. 
If an allergic reaction occurs, seek medi-
cal att

Do not run the tyre inOation com

for longer than ten minutes without inter-
ruption. Comply with the manufacturer's safety notes on

he sticker on the tyre sealant bottle.
Have the tyre sealant bottle replaced in a qualiNed
specialist workshop every Nve years.
Do not remove any foreign objects which have
ent

ered the tyre. 
Remove sticker 1 fr
om the tyre inOation
compressor housing and aPx it to the instru-
ment cluster within the driver's Neld of vision. 
Remove sticker 2 fr
om the tyre sealant bot-
tle and aPx it near the valve on the wheel with
the defective tyre. 
Pull plug 7 wit
h the cable and Nller hose 3
out of the tyre inOation compressor housing. 
Insert tyre sealant bottle 9 in soc
ket 6 of
the tyre inOation compressor in such a way
that the red arrow on tyre sealant bottle 9
matches the red arrow on the tyre inOation

Turn tyre sealant bottle 9 a q uarter turn

(2.0 bar/29 psi) has been attained:

Unscrew the Nlling hose fr
om the valve of the
defective tyre.
Please note that tyre sealant may leak out when

with sealed tyres
A tyre temporarily sealed with tyre sealant
im
pairs the handling characteristics and is not
suitable for higher speeds. 
Adapt your driving style accordingly and

ive carefully. 
Do not exceed the maximum speed limit

h a tyre that has been repaired using
tyre sealant. 
Observe the maximum permissible speed of
80 km/h

for a tyre sealed with tyre sealant.

ment cluster where it can be easily seen by
the driver.

ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE

vironmental
pollution caused by environmentally irre-
sponsible disposal Tyre sealant contains pollutants.

Have the tyre sealant bottle disposed of
pr
ofessionally, e.g. at a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre. 
Stow the tyre sealant bottle, the tyre inOation
com
pressor and the warning triangle. 
Pull away immediately. 
Stop driving aser appr
oximately ten minutes
and check the tyre pressure using the tyre
inOation compressor.
The tyre pressure must now be at least
130 kPa (1.3 bar/19 psi). &

speciNed tyre pressure not being attained
If the speciNed tyr
e pressure is not reached,
the tyre is too badly damaged. The tyre seal-
ant cannot repair the tyre in this instance. Breakdown assistance

If there is a short circuit or sparks are created,

when you charge the battery. 
Make sure that the POSITIVE terminal of

contact with vehicle parts. 
Never place metal objects or tools on a
batt
ery. 
When connecting and disconnecting the
batt
ery, always observe the sequence of

During starting assistance, always take

identical polarity. 
During starting assistance, observe the

disconnecting the jump leads.

sive mixture of gases
An explosive mixture of gases can escape
fr
om the battery during charging and starting
assistance. 
Fire, naked Oames, smoking and cr
eating
sparks must be avoided. 
Make sure there is adequate ventilation. 
Do not stand over the battery. &
WARNING Risk of e
xplosion from a frozen
battery
A discharged battery may freeze at tempera-
tur
es slightly above or below freezing point.
During starting assistance or battery charging,
battery gas can be released. 
Always allow a battery to thaw before
c
harging it or performing starting assis-
tance. If the indicator/warning lamps in the instrument
clus
ter do not light up at low temperatures, it is
very likely that the discharged battery has frozen.
In this case you may neither jump-start the vehi-
cle nor charge the battery.
The service life of a battery that has been thawed
may be dramatically shortened. The starting char-
acteristics may be impaired, especially at low
temperatures.
It is recommended that you have a thawed battery
checked at a qualiNed specialist workshop. All vehicles

due to non-combusted fuel. 
Avoid numerous and extended attempts
t

o start the engine. Observe the following points during starting assis-
t
ance and when charging the battery:
= Only use undamaged jump lead/charging
cables with a suPcient cross-section and
insulated terminal clamps.
= Non-insulated parts of the terminal clamps
must not come into contact with other metal
parts while the jump lead/charging cable is
connected to the battery/jump-start connec-
tion point.
= The jump lead/charging cable must not come
into contact with any parts which may move
when the engine is running. Breakdown assistance
