ory function is used while driving
If yo u use the memory function on the driver's
side while driving, you could lose control of
th eve hicle as a result of the adjustments
being made. #
Only use the memory function on the
driver's side when theve hicle is station-
ar y. &

ARNI NGRisk of entrapment when
adjusting the seat with the memory func-
tion
When the memory function adjusts the seat or
steering wheel, you and other vehicle occu-
pants – particular lych ildren – could become
trapped. #
During the adjusting process of the
memory function, ensure that no body parts are in
the sweep of the seat or the
stee ring wheel. #
If somebody becomes trapped, immedi-
ately release the memory function posi-
tion button.
The adjustment process is stopped. &

ory function is activated bychildren
Children could become trapped if they acti-
va te the memory function, particular lywhen
unat tended. #
Never lea vechildren unattended in the
ve hicle. #

u can use the memory function when theve hi-
cle is switched o..
Seat adjustments for up tothre e people can be
stored and called up using the memory function.

Always make sure that objects do not

Close the loc kable st owage spaces
before starting a jou rney. #
Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, poin ted, sharp-edged, fragile or too
lar ge inthe load compartment. &

when using the cup holder while theve hi-
cle is in motion
The cup holder cann othold a container secure
while theve hicle is in motion.
If yo u use a cup holder while theve hicle is in
motion, the container may be 0ung around
and liquids could be spilled. The vehicle occu-
pants may come into contact with the liquid
and if it is hot, they could be scalded. Yo u could be distracted from tra1c conditions and
yo u may lose control of theve hicle. #
Only use the cup holder when theve hicle
is stationar y. #
Only use the cup holder for containers of
th eright size. #
Always close the container, particular lyif
th e liquid is hot. *

Yo u can burn yourself if youto uch the hot
heating element or the soc ket of the cigar ette
lighter.
In addition, 0ammable materials may ignite if:

Always hold the cigar ette lighter bythe
knob. #
Always make sure that the cigar ette
lighter is out of reach of children. #
Never lea vechildren unattended in the
ve hicle. The driving
characteristics of your vehicle are
dependent on the distribution of the load within
th eve hicle. You should bear thefo llowing in mind
when loading theve hicle:
R neverex ceed the permissible gross mass or
th e permissible axle loads forth eve hicle
(including occupants).
Information can be found on theve hicle identi-
/cation plate (/ page 350).
R the load must not pr otru de abo vethe upper
edge of the seat backrests.
R when transporting objects in the load com-
partment, alw ays ins tallth e combined luggage
co ver and net (load compartment co ver and
partitioning net).
R always place the load behind unoccupied
seats if possible.
R secure the load using the tie-down eyes and
distribute the load evenl y.
No tes on driving with a roof load
R Evenly dist ribute thero of load, and place
heavy objects at the bottom. Also comply with
th e no tes on loading theve hicle. R
Drive attentivel y,and avoid suddenly pulling
awa y,braking and steering as well as rapid
cornering.
R When transporting roof loads and when the
ve hicle is fully loaded or fully occupied, select
drive prog rams ; andA. These are
designed tofocus on stability (/ page 161).

The rear ben chseat, rear seat and seat bac k-
re st ma yfo ld forw ards, even while theve hicle
is in motion.
R As a result, theve hicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
fo rc e. The seat belt will not be able topro-
te ct as intended and could cause addi-
tional injur y.
R Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained bythe seat
backrest. #
Make sure that there ar ben chseat, the
re ar seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. If
th e leT and right seat backrests are not
engaged and loc ked in place, this will be shown
on the multifunction display on the inst rument
cluster. A warning tone will also sound.
If th e centre seat backrest is not engaged and
loc ked in place, the lock veri/cation indicator will
be red.

When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep

The joints on theto p and bottom guide rods

Attach guide rod1 toholders 2onthero of

Pull on the loose ends of the lashing straps
until the partitioning net is tight. #
ATer driving a short distance, check thete n-
sion of the partitioning net and re-tension it if
necessary.
