Insert thech arging cable connector into vehi-
cle soc ket connection 8tothe stop. If the
wa llbox/charging station is not equipped with
a ch arging cable, inse rtthe plug of theve hi-
cle's charging cable into thewa llbox/charging
station soc ketto the stop.
Make sure that thech arging cable is not taut
when inser ted. The
# indicator lamp 4and status dis-
play 30ash orange and, as soon as the high-
vo ltage battery is charge d, green.
% When thech arging sequence forth e ambient
lighting is activated, the ambient lighting lights
up for appr oximately 30 seconds as with the
# indicator lamp 4(/ page 134).
When thech arging cable is connected totheve hi-
cle, theve hicle cann otbe star ted or mo ved.
At the start of thech arging process, thech arge
le ve l display is shown in the Instrument Display
with a charging prediction. The charging predic-
tion either refers to the predicted charge leve l at
th e set departure time, or the time at which the
high- voltage battery will be fully charge d.
% When theve hicle is switched on, a lightning
symbol appears next tothech arge leve l dis-
play during thech arging process.
% Depending on thete mp erature, thefa n and
bat tery cooling system may audibly switch on
during thech arging process.
% Ifth eve hicle is idle for lengt hyperiods and
connected tothe mains suppl y,the high-volt-
age battery will be rech arge d automatically as needed or when electrical consumers are
activated (e.g.
the pre-entry climate control).
% The vehicle is equipped with an elect rical fuse
which pr otects it against overvoltage in the
mains suppl y.This electrical fuse may trip dur-
ing se vere thunderstorms, forex ample, and
may cause the fuse in the building totrip or
may inter rupt thech arging process. These
functions pr otect theve hicle.
ATer the fuse in the building is switched on
again, thech arging process resumes automat-
icall y.Fo llowing an inter ruption in the po wer
supply without the fuse in the building being
tripped, it may take up to te n minutes for

damaged soc ket
The charging process uses high voltage.
If th ech arging cable, theve hicle soc ket or the
mains soc ket are damaged, you could receive
an elect ric shoc k. #
Only use an undamaged charging cable. #
Avoid mechanical damage such as crush-
ing, abrading or driving overth e cable. #
Have a damaged vehicle soc ketre placed
at a quali/ed specialist workshop as
soon as possible. #
Never connect thech arging cable to a
damaged vehicle soc ket. *

nector During
thech arging process, thech arging
cable and charging cable connector can heat
up within their permissible limit values.
The permissible limit values are in0uenced by
th efo llowing factors:
R the po wer supply system and thech arging
cable are not damaged
R the inst ructions for handling thech arging
cable and the control element on the
ch arging cable ha vebeen obser ved #
Ifth ech arging cable or charging cable

cable supplied with theve hicle or an original
Mercedes-Benz charging cable. Mercedes-
Benz thoroughly tests these original charging
cables forth eir suitability for high-voltage
ch arging of your vehicle. Pur chase these parts
at a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre and
obtain advice there.

Select Maximum charge state. #
Set the desired percentage.
The high-voltage battery is charge d up tothe
set percentage as a maximum.
% The percentage can be set in increments of
10%.
A maximum charge leve l of 80% is recommen-
ded. Higher maximum charge leve ls can
diminish the long evity of the high-voltage bat-
te ry ( / page 167).
% As soon as the full charge leve l is reached, a
noti/cation is shown in the media display that
th ech arging process is comple ted and the

obstacles such as kerbs under or in the

R Make sure the high-voltage battery has a
su1cient state of charge , especially at
ve ry low outside temp eratures. In this way
yo u can avoid any problems when the
ve hicle is subsequently star ted. R
If possible, avoid parking spaces in direct
sunlight.

brake pedal. #
