of protection if you have not moved the seat
backrest to an almost vertical position.
In particular, you may slip under the seatbelt
and injure yourself. 
Adjust the seat properly before begin-
ning y

our journey. 
Always ensure that the seat backrest is
in an almos

t vertical position and that
the shoulder section of your seat belt is
routed across the centre of your shoul-
der. The switches for adjusting the seats do not move.
Y
ou will therefore receive no direct feedback on
the switch while pressing the switch. Feedback is
provided only by the movement of the seat. 1

You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-

wing situations in particular:
= if you adjust the driver's seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror
while the vehicle is in motion
= if you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion 
Before starting the vehicle: in particular,
adjus

vehicle occupant that the centre of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye level. Adjust the head restraint

that it is as close as possible to the back of your
head.
Moving forward or back 
Take hold of the head restraint on both sides
and pr
ess release knob 1. 
Pull the headrest forwards or push it back-

ards. 
Let go of release knob 1.

seats

Adjusting the head restraints of the rear seats

Adjust the head restraint so that it is as close as
possible to the back of your head. Seats and stowing

To set the centre head restraint in the Nr st
position: pull the head restraint up until it
engages. 
To raise: push r
elease knob 1 in the direc-
tion of the arrow and pull the head restraint up
until it engages. 
To lower: pr
ess release knob 1 in the direc-
tion of the arrow and push the head restraint
down until it engages. Fitting/removing the rear seat head restraints

tandard seats)
Removing 
Release the rear seat backrest and fold it for-
w
ards slightly (  page 138). 
Press release knob 2 and pull t
he head
restraint upwards as far as it will go.
Release knob 1 will extend. 
Push both release knobs 1 and 2 at t
he
same time in the direction of the arrow and
pull out the head restraint. 
Fold the rear seat backrest back until it
eng
ages.
Installing 
Release the rear seat backrest and fold it for-
w
ards slightly (  page 138). 
Insert the head restraint such that the notches
on t
he bar are on the les when viewed in the
direction of travel. 
Push the head restraint down until it engages.

Attaching and removing the additional cushion of
t he head restraint in the rear compartment

Folding the centre head restraint into position and
f
olding it down manually (premium seats)
The centre head restraint has a usage position
and a non-usage position. The usage position is
the upright position in which the head restraint is
locked; the non-usage position is the position in
which the head restraint is folded downwards.
When the centre seat is used, the head restraint
must be in the upright, locked usage position. 
To fold into position: pull t

On the corresponding menu, adjust the air
cushions f
or Lumbar, Shoulders or Side bol-
sters.
Setting the seat heating balance 
Select Heating settings . 
Select Seat heating balance . 
Adjust the heat distribution for the desired
seat.
% The seat heating balance can be set in the
Seat climate control menu in t

he rear.
Coupling neck heat to seat heating 
Select Additional neck warmer. 
Switch the function for the desired seat on or
oM.
If t

he function is active, the neck heat of the
additional cushion has been coupled to the
seat heating. Setting automatic seat adjustment

Selecting a user pr
oNle may trigger an adjust-
ment of the driver's seat to the position saved
under the user proNle. You or other vehicle
occupants could be injured in the process. 
Make sure that when the position of the
dr
iver's seat is being adjusted via the
multimedia system, no people or body
parts are in the seat's range of move-
ment.
If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, s
top the adjustment process immedi-
ately: 
a) Tap the warning message on the cen-
tr

al display.

b) Press a memory function position but-

driver's door.

wheel position to body size
The vehicle calculates a suitable driver's seat and
steering wheel position on the basis of the driver's
body size and sets this directly. 
To set the unit of measurement: select cm or
ft/in . 
Set the size using the scale. 
Select Start positioning .
The dr
iver's seat and steering wheel position
is adjusted to the body size that has been set.

Nle. By synchronising the proNles in the vehi-
cle and the Mercedes me connect proNles,you can carry over these settings for your

ehicle. Further information about synchronis-

% If the driver's seat and steering wheel position
calculat
ed by the vehicle is not practical or
comfortable, it can be manually adapted at
any time via the control buttons.
The outside mirrors are not set via this func-
tion. Instead, they have to be set manually via
the operating switches. Overview of massage programmes

Depending on the vehicle equipment, diMer

= Relaxing Massage R

elaxing back massage
with increasing wave motions and then sooth-
ing movements.
= Hot Relaxing back Based on hot stone mas-
sage, the programme combines heat and mas-
sage. It starts by massaging the back. In addi-
tion, warm pressure points become noticea-
ble, starting in the pelvic area. =
Hot Relaxing shoulders Combination of heat
and massag

e. It starts by massaging the
shoulders. In addition, warm pressure points
become noticeable, starting in the pelvic area.
= Activating Massage Activating massage pro-
gramme with upward-moving relaxing waves.
= Classic Massage Calming back massage pro-
gramme.
= Wave Massage Regenerating massage pro-
gramme via relaxing waves across the back
and in the seat cushion.
= Mobilizing Massage Mobilising massage pro-
gramme with upward-moving relaxing waves.
Can promote slower, deeper respiration. This
can improve the supply of oxygen to cells and
the brain.
= Workout, backrest and Workout, cushion
These programmes require your cooperation.
Alternating between tensing and releasing
helps to improve blood Oow to your muscles.
Press against a pressure point as soon as you
feel it to activate back, abdominal and leg
muscles. 126

Depth waves W ave-like movements in the
cushion can promote blood Oow and meta-
bolic processes in the lower back and legs.
= Deep workout Connect the Workout, back-
rest to the Workout, cushion. The vibrations
in the cushion intensify the eMectiveness of
tensing and releasing muscles when you tense
against the pressure point. This supports met-
abolic processes and blood Oow in the but-
