Display messages
Introduction
Information about display messages
Displa y messages appear on the driver display.
Display messages with graphical symbols are sim-
pliNed in the Owner's Manual and may diMer from
the symbols on the driver display. The driver dis-
play shows high-priority display messages in red.
Certain display messages are accompanied by a
warning tone.
Please act in accordance with the display mes-
sages and follow the additional notes in the Own-
er's Manual.
For some display messages, symbols will also be
shown:

Components in the restraint system may be activated unintentionally or not deploy as planned in an accident. In

he event of an accident, the high-voltage on-board electrical system may not be deactivated as intended.
You may suMer an electric shock if you touch the damaged components of the high-voltage on-board electrical
system. 
Have the restraint system checked and repaired immediately at a q
ualiNed specialist workshop.

* The front passenger airbag has been disabled even though an adult or a person of adult build is on the front passenger
seat. If additional f

Front passenger airbag ena-
bled See Owner's Manual * The front passenger airbag will be enabled while the vehicle is in motion in the following situations:

ven when a child, a small adult or an object weighing less than the system weight threshold is located on the front
passenger seat
= even when the front passenger seat is not occupied
The system may detect objects or forces that are adding to the weight applied to the seat. &
WARNING Risk of injur
y or death when using a child restraint system while the front passenger airbag is ena-
bled
If you secure a child in a child restraint system on the front passenger seat and the front passenger airbag is ena-
bled, t
he front passenger airbag can deploy in the event of an accident.
The child could be struck by the airbag. 
Ensure, both before and during the journey, that the status of the front passenger airbag is correct.
NEVER use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it, DEATH or
SERIOUS INJUR
Y to the CHILD can occur. 
Stop the vehicle immediately in accordance with the tr
aPc conditions. 
Make sure that no objects are trapped under the front passenger seat. 
Check the status of automatic front passenger airbag actuation (  pag
e 56).
If necessary, consult a q

play message) * The key is currently undetected. 
Change the location of the key in the vehicle. 
If the key is still not recognised, place it in the slot for starting with the key ( pag e 198).

play message) * The key cannot be detected and may no longer be in the vehicle.
If t
he key is no longer in the vehicle and you switch oM the vehicle:
= You can no longer start the vehicle.
= You cannot centrally lock the vehicle. 
Ensure that the key is in the vehicle.
If the key is in the vehicle and still not recognised: 
Stop the vehicle immediately in accordance with the tr
aPc conditions. 
Place the key in the slot for starting the engine with the key (  pag
e 198).
The key battery is weak or discharged. 
Check the battery using the indicator lamp (  pag
e 84). 
Replace the key battery, if necessary ( pag

limited * The DIGITAL LIGHT system is malfunctioning. The lighting system will continue to work even without the functions of
the DIGITAL LIGHT system.

Once the cause of the problem is no longer present, the system will be available again. The Adaptive Highbeam
Assist available again display message will appear. 
Drive on 
Operate the high beam manually until Adaptive High Beam Assist is available again.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist
inoperative * Adaptive Highbeam Assist is malfunctioning. 
Drive on

Stop the vehicle in accordance with the tr
aPc conditions and restart the vehicle. 
If the display message does not disappear: consult a q ualiNed specialist workshop. 
Until then, operate the high beam manually.

See Owner's Manual * Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus is temporarily unavailable.
The sy
stem limits have been reached (  page 166).
Once the cause of the problem is no longer present, the system will be available again. The Adaptive Highbeam
Assist Plus available again display message will appear. 
Drive on 
Operate the high beam manually until Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus is available again. Display messages and warning/indicator lamps
