Rules of conduct when the vehicle is raised:= Never place your hands or feet under the vehi-
cle.
= Never lie under the vehicle.
= Do not start the vehicle and do not release the
electric parking brake.
= Do not open or close any doors or the tailgate.
Using the lug wrench, loosen the wheel bolts
on the wheel you wish to change by about one full turn. Do not unscrew the screws com-
pletely.
Position of the jack support points

dangers.&WARNING Risk of injury from incorrect
positioning of the jack
If you do not position the jack correctly at the
appropriate jacking point of the vehicle, the jack could tip with the vehicle raised.
Only position the jack at the appropriate
jacking point of the vehicle. The base ofWheels and tires339

the jack must be positioned vertically
under the jacking point of the vehicle.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to the
jack
If you do not position the jack at the jack sup-
port points provided for this purpose, you
could damage your vehicle.
Only position the jack at the jack sup-
port points provided for this purpose.Take the ratchet out of the tire-change tool kit and place it on the hexagon nut of the jack so that the letters "AUF" are visible.Position support 2 of jack 4 on jack sup-
port point 1.Turn ratchet 3 clockwise until support 2
sits completely on jack support point 1 and
the base of the jack lies evenly on the ground.Turn ratchet 3 until the tire is raised a maxi-
mum of 1.2 in (3 cm) from the ground.Loosen and remove the wheel (  page 340).Removing a wheel
Requirements

When changing a wheel, avoid applying any force
to the brake disks, as this could impair the level of
comfort when braking.
*NOTE Damage to threading from dirt on
wheel boltsDo not place wheel bolts in sand or on a
dirty surface.Unscrew the uppermost wheel bolt com-

Screw centering pin 1 into the thread
instead of the wheel bolt.Unscrew the remaining wheel bolts com-
pletely.Remove the wheel and, if necessary, store it in the load compartment.Notes on removing an emergency spare wheel
(  page 343).
Changing the tire
Requirements:
= The wheel to be changed is removed and the
centering pin is screwed in (  page 340).

wheel
Oiled, greased or damaged wheel bolt/wheel
nut threads or wheel hub/wheel mounting
bolt threads can cause the wheel bolts/wheel nuts to come loose.
Never oil or grease the threads.In the event of damage to the threads,
contact a qualiNed specialist workshop
immediately.Have the damaged wheel bolts or dam-
aged hub threads replaced.Do not continue driving.Observe the information on the choice of tires
(  page 333).For tires with a speciNed direction of rotation, an
arrow on the side wall of the tire indicates the cor-
rect direction of rotation. Observe the direction of rotation when changing the tire.Slide the wheel to be mounted onto the cen-tering pin and push it on.Observe the notes on mounting an emergencyspare wheel (  page 343).&WARNING Risk of injury from tightening
wheel bolts and nuts
If you tighten the wheel bolts or wheel nuts
when the vehicle is raised, the jack could tip.
Only tighten wheel bolts or wheel nuts
when the vehicle is on the ground.Observe the instructions and safety notes on
"Changing a wheel" (  page 333).For safety reasons, only use wheel bolts which
have been approved by Mercedes-Benz and

*NOTE Damage to paintwork of the wheel
rim when screwing in the Nrst wheel bolt
If the wheel has too much play when screwing
in the Nrst wheel bolt, the wheel rim paint can
be damaged.
Press the wheel Nrmly against the wheel
hub when screwing in the Nrst wheel
bolt.Tighten the wheel bolts evenly in a diagonal pattern in the order indicated until they are Nnger-tight.Unscrew and remove the centering pin.Tighten the last wheel bolt until it is Nnger-
tight.Lower the vehicle (  page 342).
Lowering the vehicle aser a wheel change
Requirements
= The new wheel has been installed
(  page 341).
To lower the vehicle: place the ratchet onto
the hexagon nut of the jack so that the letters "AB" are visible and turn counter-clockwise.Tighten the wheel bolts evenly in a diagonalpattern in the order indicated 1 to 5 with
an initial maximum force of 59 lb-s (80 Nm).Tighten the wheel bolts evenly in a diagonal
pattern in the order indicated 1 to 5 with
the speciNed tightening torque of 96 lb-s
(130 Nm).&WARNING Risk of accident due to incor-
rect tightening torque
The wheels could come loose if the wheel
bolts or wheel nuts are not tightened to the
prescribed torque.
Ensure that the wheel bolts or wheel
nuts are tightened to the prescribed
tightening torque.If you are not sure, do not move the vehi-
cle. Contact a qualiNed specialist work-
shop and have the tightening torque checked immediately.Check the tire pressure of the newly installed
wheel and adjust it if necessary.\bThe following does not apply if the new wheel is an emergency spare wheel.Vehicles with a tire pressure loss warning sys-tem: restart the tire pressure loss warning sys-
tem (  page 321).Vehicles with a tire pressure monitoring sys-
tem: restart the tire pressure monitoring sys-

Emergency spare wheel
Notes on the emergency spare wheel
&WARNING Risk of accident caused by
incorrect wheel and tire dimensions
The wheel or tire sizes and the tire type of the
emergency spare wheel or spare wheel and
the wheel to be replaced may diMer. The emer-
gency spare wheel or spare wheel can signiN-
cantly impair driving characteristics of the
vehicle.
To prevent hazardous situations:
Drive carefully.Never install more than one emergency
spare wheel or spare wheel that diMers
in size.Only use an emergency spare wheel or spare wheel brieOy.Do not deactivate ESP n
.Have the emergency spare wheel or
spare wheel of a diMerent size replaced
at the nearest qualiNed specialist work-shop. The new wheel must have the cor-
rect dimensions.\bThe deOated emergency spare wheel is
secured in the emergency spare wheel bag in
the cargo compartment and is secured to the adjustable cargo Ooor in the lower position.
Observe the following notes on removing an emer-
gency spare wheel:
= Before stowing the emergency spare wheel,
make sure there is no air les in the tire.
If necessary, allow the air to escape.
= To release air from the tire: remove the valve
cap of the tire.
= Press down the metal insert in the valve using
a pointed object, e.g. a pen.
= Screw the valve cap onto the valve.
\bVehicles with adjustable cargo Ooor: always
stow the deOated emergency spare wheel in
the lower position on the adjustable cargo
Ooor.Observe the following notes on installing an emer-
gency spare wheel:
= The maximum permissible speed with an
emergency spare wheel installed is 50 mph
(80 km/h).
= Do not install the emergency spare wheel with
snow chains.
= Replace the emergency spare wheel aser six
years at the latest, regardless of wear.
= Use the wheel bolts that are included with the
emergency spare wheel.
= Check the tire pressure of the emergency
spare wheel installed. Correct the pressure as
necessary.\bThe speciNed tire pressure is stated on the
label of the emergency spare wheel.\bVehicles with a tire pressure loss warning sys- tem: if an emergency spare wheel is installed,
the tire pressure loss warning system cannot function reliably. Only restart the system
again when the emergency spare wheel has been replaced with a new wheel.Wheels and tires343

Vehicles with a tire pressure monitoring sys-
tem: if an emergency spare wheel is installed,
the tire pressure monitoring system cannot
function reliably. For a few minutes aser an
emergency spare wheel is installed, the sys- tem may still display the tire pressure of the
removed wheel. Only restart the system again when the emergency spare wheel has been
replaced with a new wheel.

for longer than ten minutes without inter- ruption.
Requirements: = The emergency spare wheel has been installed
correctly. (  page 338)
\bComply with the manufacturer\bs safety notes
on the sticker of the emergency spare wheel
and on the tire inOation compressor.Remove the sticker with the label 50 mph
(80 km/h) from the tire inOation compressor
housing and aPx it to the instrument cluster
within the driver\bs Neld of vision.Remove the tire inOation compressor from the
stowage space under the trunk Ooor.
(  page 297)Pull Nller hose 1 and plug 3 out of the tire
inOation compressor housing.Insert plug 7 of Nller hose 1 in the socket
on the tire inOation compressor and then turn
it until plug 7 engages.Unscrew the cap from the valve on the emer-
gency spare wheel.Screw union nut 2 of Nller hose 1 onto the
valve.Make sure on and oM switch 4 of the tire
inOation compressor is set to 0.Insert plug 3 in a socket in your vehicle.

The tire inOation compressor is switched on.
The tire is inOated. The tire pressure appears
on manometer 5.Pump the tire to the speciNed tire pressure.\bThe speciNed tire pressure is stated on the
label of the emergency spare wheel.When the speciNed tire pressure has been
reached, press on and oM switch 4 on the
tire inOation compressor to 0.
The tire inOation compressor is switched oM.Press the start/stop button to switch oM the
power supply.If the tire pressure is higher than the speciNed
pressure, press pressure release valve button
6 until the correct tire pressure has been
reached.Unscrew union nut 2 of Nller hose 1 from
the valve.Screw the valve cap of the emergency spare
wheel onto the valve again.Stow Nller hose 1 and plug 3 in the lower
section of the tire inOation compressor hous-
ing.Stow the tire inOation compressor in the vehi-

Vehicle electronics
Two-way radios
q Notes on installing two-way radios
&WARNING Risk of accident due to
improper work on two-way radios
If two-way radios are manipulated or retroNt-
ted incorrectly, the electromagnetic radiation
from the two-way radios can interfere with the vehicle electronics and jeopardize the operat-
ing safety of the vehicle.
You should have all work on electrical
and electronic components carried out
at a qualiNed specialist workshop.&WARNING Risk of accident due to
improper operation of two-way radios
If you use two-way radios in the vehicle
improperly, their electromagnetic radiation
can disrupt the vehicle\bs electronics. This is
the case in the following situations, in particu-
lar:
= The two-way radio is not connected to an
exterior antenna.
= The exterior antenna is installed incor-
rectly or is not a low-reOection antenna.
This could jeopardize the operating safety of
the vehicle.
Have the low-reOection exterior antenna
installed at a qualiNed specialist work-
shop.When operating two-way radios in the
vehicle, always connect them to the low-
reOection exterior antenna.*NOTE Invalidation of the operating permit
due to failure to comply with the instruc-
tions for installation and use
The operating permit may be invalidated if the instructions for installation and use of two-wayradios are not observed.
Only use approved frequency bands.Observe the maximum permissible out-put power in these frequency bands.Only use approved antenna positions.346Technical data

On vehicles with a panorama roof with power tilt/
sliding panel, installing an antenna to the front or rear roof area is not permitted.
On the rear fenders, it is recommended that you
install the antenna on the side of the vehicle clos- est to the center of the road.

The following devices can be used in the vehiclewithout restrictions:
= two-way radios with a maximum transmission
output of up to 100 mW
= two-way radios with transmitter frequencies in
the 380 - 420 MHz frequency band and a
maximum transmission output of up to 2 W

= mobile phones (2G/3G/4G/5G)
There are no restrictions regarding the position of
the antenna on the outside of the vehicle for the
following frequency bands:
= TETRA
= 2G/3G/4G/5G
