With MOExtended tyres
(r un-Oat tyres), you can
continue to drive your vehicle even if there is a
total loss of pressure in one or more tyres. How-
ever, the tyre aMected must not show any clearly
visible damage.
You can recognise MOExtended tyres by the
MOExtended marking which appears on the side
wall of the tyre.
Vehicles with tyre pressure loss warning system:
MOExtended tyres may only be used in conjunc-
tion with an activated tyre pressure loss warning
system.
Vehicles with tyre pressure monitoring system:
MOExtended tyres may only be used in conjunc-
tion with an activated tyre pressure monitoring
system.
If a pressure loss warning message appears in the
driver's display, proceed as follows:
= Check the tyre for damage.
= If driving on, observe the following notes. Driving distance possible in emergency mode

Fully laden 30 km The driving distance possible in emergency mode

y vary depending on the driving style. Observe

If a tyre has gone Oat and cannot be replaced with
an MOExtended tyre, you can use a standard tyre
as a temporary measure. Storage location of the TIREFIT kit (not plug-in

At a distance of approximately 1 m to the tyre
inOation com
pressor and approximately 1.6 m
above the ground, the following sound pres-
sure levels apply:

The tyre inOation compressor is maintenance-
free. If there is a malfunction, please contact
a qualiNed specialist workshop. Storage location of the TIREFIT kit (plug-in hybrid)

sw allow it. Do not inhale any vapours. Keep
the tyre sealant away from children.
Observe the following if you come into contact
with the tyre sealant:

using water immediately. 
If tyre sealant gets into your eyes, thor-

y rinse them using clean water
immediately. 
If tyre sealant has been swallowed, thor-
oughl
y rinse out your mouth immediately
and drink plenty of water. Do not induce
vomiting and seek medical attention
immediately. 
Change out of clothing which has come

o contact with tyre sealant immedi-
ately. 
If an allergic reaction occurs, seek medi-
cal att

NOTE Ov
erheating due to the tyre inOation
compressor running too long 
Do not run the tyre inOation com
pressor
for longer than ten minutes without inter-
ruption. Comply with the manufacturer's safety notes on
t

he sticker on the tyre sealant bottle.
Have the tyre sealant bottle replaced in a qualiNed
specialist workshop every Nve years. 
Do not remove any foreign objects which have
ent

ered the tyre. 
Remove sticker 1 fr
om the tyre inOation
compressor housing and aPx it to the instru-
ment cluster within the driver's Neld of vision. 
Remove sticker 2 fr
om the tyre sealant bot-
tle and aPx it near the valve on the wheel with
the defective tyre. 370
Breakdown assistance


Pull plug 7 wit h the cable and Nller hose 3
out of the tyre inOation compressor housing.
Insert tyre sealant bottle 9 in soc
ket 6 of
the tyre inOation compressor in such a way
that the red arrow on tyre sealant bottle 9
matches the red arrow on the tyre inOation
compressor. 
Turn tyre sealant bottle 9 a q
uarter turn
clockwise. 
Insert the plug of Nller hose 3 in soc
ket 5
of tyre sealant bottle 9. 
Turn Nller hose 3 a q
uarter turn clockwise. 
Remove the valve cap from valve A
on the
faulty tyre. 
Screw union nut 4 of Nller hose 3 ont
o
valve A. 
Insert plug 7 int
o a 12!


Unscrew the Nlling hose fr om the valve of the
defective tyre.
Please note that tyre sealant may leak out when
unscr
ewing the Nlling hose. 
Drive forwards or in reverse very slowly for
appr
oximately 10 m. 
Pump up the tyre again.
Aser a maximum of t

en minutes the tyre pres-
sure must be at least 200 kPa (2.0 bar/
29 psi). &
WARNING Risk of accident due t
o the
speciNed tyre pressure not being attained
If the speciNed tyr
e pressure is not attained
aser the speciNed time, the tyre is too badly
damaged. The tyre sealant cannot repair the
tyre in this instance.
The braking and driving characteristics may be
greatly impaired. 
Do not continue driving. 
Consult a q
ualiNed specialist workshop. *
NOTE S

Therefore, place the Nlling hose in t
he
plastic bag that contained the TIREFIT
kit. If, aser

en minutes, a tyre pressure of 200 kPa
(2.0 bar/29 psi) has been attained:

Unscrew the Nlling hose fr
om the valve of the
defective tyre.
Please note that tyre sealant may leak out when
unscr
ewing the Nlling hose. &
WARNING Risk of accident fr
om driving
with sealed tyres
A tyre temporarily sealed with tyre sealant
im
pairs the handling characteristics and is not
suitable for higher speeds. 
Adapt your driving style accordingly and
dr

ive carefully. 
Do not exceed the maximum speed limit
wit
h a tyre that has been repaired using
tyre sealant. 
Observe the maximum permissible speed of
80 km/h

for a tyre sealed with tyre sealant.

ment cluster where it can be easily seen by
the driver.

sponsible disposal Tyre sealant contains pollutants.

Have the tyre sealant bottle disposed of
pr
ofessionally, e.g. at a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre. 
Stow the tyre sealant bottle, the tyre inOation
com
pressor and the warning triangle. 
Pull away immediately. 
Stop driving aser appr
oximately ten minutes
and check the tyre pressure using the tyre
inOation compressor.
The tyre pressure must now be at least
130 kPa (1.3 bar/19 psi). &

If the speciNed tyr
e pressure is not reached,
the tyre is too badly damaged. The tyre seal-
ant cannot repair the tyre in this instance. The braking and driving characteristics may be

Notes on the 12 V battery

WARNING Risk of e xplosion due to elec-
trostatic charge
Electrostatic charge can ignite the highly
e
xplosive gas mixture in the battery. 
To discharge any electrostatic charge
t
hat may have built up, touch the metal
vehicle body before handling the battery. The highly

as mixture is created while
the battery is charging and during starting assis-
tance.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you only use batteries which have been tes-
ted and approved for your vehicle by Mercedes-
Benz. &

Avoid creating sparks. Electrolyte or battery acid is corrosive.

when you charge the battery. 
Make sure that the POSITIVE terminal of

contact with vehicle parts. 
Never place metal objects or tools on a
batt
ery. 
When connecting and disconnecting the
batt
ery, always observe the sequence of
battery terminals described. 
During starting assistance, always take
car

e to connect only battery terminals of
identical polarity. 
During starting assistance, observe the
seq
uence described for connecting and
disconnecting the jump leads. 
Do not connect or disconnect the bat-
t

ery terminals with the engine running. &

sive mixture of gases
An explosive mixture of gases can escape
fr
om the battery during charging and starting
assistance. 
Fire, naked Oames, smoking and cr
eating
sparks must be avoided. 
Make sure there is adequate ventilation. Breakdown assistance

Do not stand over the battery. &
WARNING Risk of e xplosion from a frozen
battery
A discharged battery may freeze at tempera-
tur
es slightly above or below freezing point.
During starting assistance or battery charging,
battery gas can be released. 
Always allow a battery to thaw before
c
harging it or performing starting assis-
tance. If the indicator/warning lamps in the instrument
clus
ter do not light up at low temperatures, it is
very likely that the discharged battery has frozen.
In this case you may neither jump-start the vehi-
cle nor charge the battery.
The service life of a battery that has been thawed
may be dramatically shortened. The starting char-
acteristics may be impaired, especially at low
temperatures.
It is recommended that you have a thawed battery
checked at a qualiNed specialist workshop. *

Avoid numerous and extended attempts

o start the engine. Observe the following points during starting assis-

ance and when charging the battery:
= Only use undamaged jump lead/charging
cables with a suPcient cross-section and
insulated terminal clamps.
= Non-insulated parts of the terminal clamps
must not come into contact with other metal
parts while the jump lead/charging cable is
connected to the battery/jump-start connec-
tion point.
= The jump lead/charging cable must not come
into contact with any parts which may move
when the engine is running.
= Always make sure that neither you nor the bat-
tery is electrostatically charged. =

Observe the additional following points when
charging the battery:
= Only use battery chargers tested and
approved for Mercedes-Benz.
= Read the battery charger's operating instruc-
tions before charging the battery.
Observe the additional following points during
starting assistance: = For starting assistance, only use batteries with
a nominal voltage of 12 V.
= The vehicles must not touch.
= Petrol engine: only accept starting assistance
if the engine and exhaust system are cold. Starting assistance and charging the 12 V battery

Connect positive clamp 2 on y
our vehicle to
the positive pole of the donor battery using
the jump lead/charging cable. Always begin
with positive clamp 2 on your own vehicle
Nrst. 
During starting assistance: s
tart the engine of
the donor vehicle and run at idle speed. 
Connect the negative pole of the donor bat-
t
ery and earth point 3 of your own vehicle by
using the jump lead/charging cable. Begin
with the donor battery Nrst. 
During starting assistance: s
tart the engine of
your own vehicle. 
During the charging process: s
tart the charg-
ing process. 
During starting assistance: le
t the engines run
for several minutes. 
During starting assistance: bef
ore disconnect-
ing the jump lead, switch on an electrical con-
sumer on your own vehicle, e.g. the rear win-
dow heater or lighting.
When the starting assistance/charging process is
com
plete: 
First, remove the jump lead/charging cable
fr
om earth point 3 and the negative pole of
the donor battery, then from positive clamp
2 and the positive pole of the donor battery.
Begin each time with the contacts on your
own vehicle Nrst. 
Aser r
emoving the jump lead/charging cable,
close cover 1 of positive clamp 2.
Plug-in hybrid: if y
our vehicle has been started
with starting assistance, it may not be possible to
use the electric drive for approximately 30
minutes.

specialist workshop. Replacing the 12 V battery
