If a seat is folded forwards, always fold it
bac
k before driving oM.
Make sure that the seat is engaged. Requirements:
= The ar

ea into which the seat is folded is clear.
= The area under the third row of seats is clear.
= The cup holders are empty when the seat
backrests on the third row of seats are folded
forwards.
= The load compartment cover is removed when
the seat backrests on the second row of seats
are folded forwards.
If you no longer require the folded-down seat
backrest as a loading area, fold the backrest back
into place. 
Trap the seat belt strap on seat belt 2 in seat
belt s
trap holder 1.

ear may be damaged due to the attachment
of objects. 
Only attach objects to the tie-down eyes. The release loops are located in the load compart-
ment t

o the side of the bottom part of the seat
backrests. Release loops on the rear sides

Move the second row of seats forwards and
mo
ve the seat backrests into the cargo posi-
tion ( page 130). 
Release the head restraints on the third row of
seats and push t
hem down ( page 113). 
Pull one of red release loops 1.
The seat bac
krest will automatically fold for-
wards. 
Push the seat backrest down until it engages. 128

When the seat backrests on the second and
t hird rows of seats are folded forwards, you
can push the rear bench seat on the second
row of seats back. This will then provide a
continuous load compartment surface.
Ensure that the area between the rows of
seats is clear.

When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself
or a v
ehicle occupant. 
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has an
y body parts in the sweep
of the seat. &

bench seat, rear seat and seat backrest
are not engaged
The rear bench seat, rear seat and seat back-
r
est may fold forwards, even while the vehicle
is in motion.
= As a result, the vehicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
force. The seat belt will not be able to pro-
tect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
= Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained by the seat
backrest. 
Make sure that the rear bench seat, the
r
ear seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. *

rest The seat belt could become trapped and thus

ed when the seat backrest is folded
back. 
Make sure that the seat belt is not trap-
ped when f
olding back the seat backrest. Requirements:
= The seats and t

he seat backrests on the sec-
ond row of seats have been moved forwards
suPciently.

Adjusting the angle of the rear seat backrests
(car
go position)
To enlarge the load compartment, you can move
the seat backrests on the second row of seats
into a steeper angle (cargo position). 
Setting the seat backrest: hold t he seat back-
rest 1 in place with your hand or back. 
Gently pull one of the release loops 2 and
f
old the seat backrest forwards. Load compartment cover

The load compartment cover alone cannot
secur
e or restrain heavy objects, items of lug-
gage or heavy loads.
You could be hit by an unsecured load, partic-
ularly in the event of abrupt changes in direc-
tion, sudden braking or an accident. 
Always stow objects in such a way that

hey cannot be thrown around. 
Secure objects, luggage or loads against
slipping or tipping o

ver, e.g. by using
lashing material, even if you are using
the load compartment cover. *

Do not place any objects above the
lo
wer edge of the side windows or on the
load compartment cover. Vehicles with a third row of seats: when the third
r

ow of seats is in use, the load compartment
cover on the seat backrests on the second row of
seats is removed.
Extending/retracting the load compartment cover 
To extend: pull t
he load compartment cover
back by grab handle 1 and clip it into hold-
ers 2 on the les and right.
Retracting 
Release the load compartment cover from
holder
s 2 on the les and right. 
Guide the load compartment cover forwards
using g

rab handle 1 until it is fully retracted.

= The load compartment cover is rolled up. Removing the load compartment cover

the direction of the arrow using the handle on
the lower edge 3. 
Push the load compartment cover 1 int
o the

Place the load compartment cover 1 in t
he
anchorage 2 on the right- or les-hand side.
Press in the end cap of the load compartment

ver 1 on the opposite side and insert the
load compartment cover 1 into the other
anchorage 2. Attaching/removing the partitioning net

The partitioning net alone cannot secure or

estrain heavy objects, items of luggage or
heavy loads.

Hook partition net 1 int o holders 2 on the
les and right on the roof lining. 
Without load compartment enlargement:

les and right in such a way that hooks 3
point backwards. 
With load compartment enlargement: attach

s 3 to tie-down eyes 4 on the les and
right in such a way that hooks 3 point to the
door. 
Pull on the loose ends of the lashing straps at

he same time until the partitioning net 1 is
tight and the top edge of partitioning net 1 is
horizontal. Removing 
Turn the buckle of the lashing strap in the
dir

ection of arrow 6. 
Slide the loose end of the lashing strap into
t

he buckle in the direction of arrow 5 until
the lashing straps are loose.

Clothes hook
The clothes hooks are not suitable for hanging
hea
vy objects as this can cause the tailgate to
lower automatically. Use the clothes hooks only
for light objects such as jackets. Adjusting the load compartment

equirements. To this end,
you can lock the load compartment Ooor at two
diMerent heights. The higher position provides a
Oat surface when the rear seat backrests are fol-
ded forward. Furthermore, you can remove a
bracket at the rear to create additional space

The vehicle centre of gravity and the usual

iving characteristics as well as the steering
and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driv-
ing characteristics, as well as steering and
braking, will be greatly impaired. 
Never exceed the maximum roof load
and adjus

per mitted headroom clearance, do not
enter.

racks The panorama sliding sunroof may be dam-

ed by the roof luggage rack if you attempt to
open it when using a roof luggage rack not
tested and approved for Mercedes-Benz. 
When a roof luggage rack is Ntt

the panorama sliding sunroof only if this
has been tested and approved for
Mercedes-Benz.
The panorama sliding sunroof may be raised

o allow ventilation of the vehicle interior. Notes on driving with a roof load

= Drive attentively, and avoid suddenly pulling
away, braking and steering as well as rapid
cornering.
