restraints not being installed or being
adjusted incorrectly
If head restraints have not been installed or
have not been adjusted correctly, there is an increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in the event of an accident or when
braking.
Always drive with the head restraints
installed.Before driving o"M, make sure for every
vehicle occupant that the center of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye level.Do not rotate the head restraints of the front and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be able to
adjust the height and angle of the head restraints
correctly.Adjust the head restraint fore-and-a"s position so
that it is as close as possible to the back of your head.To raise: pull the head restraint up.To lower: press release knob 1 in the direc-
tion of the arrow and push the head restraint
down.To move forward: press release knob 2 and
pull the head restraint forward.To move backwards: press release knob 2
and push the head restraint backwards.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can
adjust the head restraints in the rear passenger
compartment.To raise: pull the head restraint up.To lower: press release knob 1 in the direc-
tion of the arrow and push the head restraint
down.Vehicles with a third row of seats
The head restraints on the third row of seats have
a usage position and a non-usage position. The usage position is the extended, top position inwhich the head restraint engages; the non-usage
position is the bottom, retracted position of the
head restraint. If the seats on the third row of
seats are being used, the head restraint must be in the top, engaged usage position.If the third row of seats is occupied: move the
head restraints to the very top and have them
engage there.If the third row of seats is not occupied: move
the head restraints to the very bottom.

Removing
Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can
remove the head restraints in the rear passenger compartment.
Release the rear seat backrest and fold it for-
wards slightly (  page 122).Pull the head restraint upwards as far as it will
go.Push release knob 1 in the direction of the
arrow and pull out the head restraint.110Seats and stowing

InstallingInsert the head restraint such that the notcheson the bar are on the le"s when viewed in the
direction of travel.Push the head restraint down until it engages.Fold the rear seat backrest back until it
engages.

Adjusting the air cushions
In the corresponding menu, adjust the air cushions for Lumbar or Side Bolsters .
Setting the seat heating balance
Select Heating Settings .Select Seat Heating Balance .Adjust the heat distribution for the desired

Selecting a user pro"Nle may trigger an adjust-
ment of the driver\bs seat to the position saved
under the user pro"Nle. You or other vehicle
occupants could be injured in the process.
Make sure that when the position of driv-
er\bs seat is being adjusted using the mul-
timedia system, no people or body parts
are in the seat\bs range of movement.
If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, immediately stop the adjustment process
by:
a) Pressing the warning message on the
central display.
or
b) Pressing a position button of the memory function or a seat adjustment
switch in the driver\bs door.
The adjustment process is stopped.Multimedia system:

Manually adjusting driver\bs seat and steering
wheel position to body size
The vehicle calculates a suitable driver\bs seat and steering wheel position on the basis of the driver\bsbody size and sets this directly.To set the unit of measurement: select cm or
ft/in .Set the size using the scale.Select Start Positioning .
The driver\bs seat and steering wheel position
is adjusted to the body size that has been set.\bYou can also con"Ngure these settings via the
Mercedes me user account for your user pro-
"Nle. By synchronizing the pro"Nles in the vehi-
cle and the Mercedes me connect pro"Nles,
you can carry over these settings for your vehicle. Further information about synchroniz-

\bIf the driver\bs seat and steering wheel positioncalculated by the vehicle is not practical or
comfortable, it can be manually adapted at
any time via the control buttons.
The outside mirrors are not set via this func-
tion. Instead, they have to be set manually via
the operating switches.

Seat heating in the cockpitSeat heating in the rear passenger compartment
Press button 1 repeatedly until the desired
heating level is set.
Depending on the heating level, up to three
indicator lamps will light up. If all indicator
lamps are o"M, the seat heating is switched o"M.\bThe seat heating will automatically switch
down from the three heating levels a"ser 8, 10and 20 minutes until the seat heating is
switched o"M.

Panel Heating
When the seat heating is switched on, the armr-
ests, the center panels of the doors and the cen- ter console can be heated.
Tap on Additional Surface Heating .
The Panel Heating will be linked to the seat
heating.
Switching the seat ventilation on/o"M
Requirements:
= The power supply is switched on.

Seat ventilation in the cockpit
Press button 1 repeatedly until the desired
ventilation level is set. Depending on the ventilation level, up to three
indicator lamps will light up. If all indicator
lamps are o"M, the seat ventilation is switched

&WARNING Risk of accident due to adjust-
ing the vehicle settings while the vehicle is
in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-
lowing situations in particular:
= If you adjust the driver\bs seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror while the vehicle is in motion
= If you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion
Before starting the vehicle: in particular,
adjust the driver\bs seat, head restraint,
steering wheel and mirror, and fasten
your seat belt.&WARNING Risk of entrapment for children
when adjusting the steering wheel
Children could injure themselves if they adjust
the steering wheel.
Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.When leaving the vehicle, always take the key with you and lock the vehicle.
Unlocking

Adjust height 2 and distance 3 to the
steering wheel.
Locking
Fold release lever 1 up as far as it will go.Check and make sure that the steering col-
umn is locked by moving the steering wheel.
Adjusting the steering wheel electrically

Depending on the vehicle version, the steering
wheel heater can be switched on and o"M using a
switch on the steering wheel.

To switch on: push the switch into position
1 .
Indicator lamp 3 lights up.To switch o"M: push the switch into position
2 .
Indicator lamp 3 will go out.
When you switch the ignition o"M, the steering
wheel heater will switch o"M.
Decoupling the steering wheel heater from the
seat heating
Requirements
= The power supply or the vehicle has been
switched on.
= The steering wheel heater is linked to the seat
heating.

The function is active by default and the steering wheel heater is automatically activated and deac-
tivated when the seat heating is switched on ando"M.Tap on Additional Steering Wheel Heating .
The steering wheel heater will be decoupled
from the seat heating.
Easy entry and exit feature
Using the easy entry and exit feature

away during the adjustment process of
the easy entry and exit feature
You could lose control of the vehicle.
Always wait until the adjustment process
is complete before driving o"M.&WARNING Risk of becoming trapped when
adjusting the easy entry and exit feature
You and other vehicle occupants, particularly
children, may become trapped.
Make sure that no one has any part of
their body within the range of movement
of the steering wheel and driver\bs seat.
If there is a risk of becoming trapped by the
steering wheel:
Move the steering wheel adjustment lever.
The adjustment process is stopped.
If there is a risk of becoming trapped by the driver\bs seat:
Press the switch for seat adjustment.
The adjustment process is stopped.Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.When leaving the vehicle, always take the key with you and lock the vehicle.Vehicles with memory function: You can stop the
adjustment process by pressing one of the mem-

children activate the easy entry and exit
feature
Children could become trapped if they acti- vate the easy entry and exit feature, particu-
larly when unattended.
Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.When leaving the vehicle, always take the key with you and lock the vehicle.
If the easy entry and exit feature is active, the
steering wheel will move upwards and the driver\bs
seat will move back in the following situations:
= You switch o"M the vehicle when the driver\bs
door is open.
= You open the driver\bs door when the vehicle is
switched o"M.
\bThe steering wheel will then move upwards
only if it is not already as high as it will go.
The driver\bs seat will then move backwards
only if it is not already at the rear of the seat
adjustment range.The driver\bs seat backrest will then move for- wards only if it is not already in the frontmostposition.
The steering wheel and the driver\bs seat will moveback to the last driving position in the followingcases:
= You switch the power supply or the vehicle on
when the driver\bs door is closed.
= You close the driver\bs door when the vehicle is
switched on.
The last drive position will be saved when: = You switch o"M the vehicle.
= Vehicles with memory function: you call up the
seat settings via the memory function.
= Vehicles with memory function: you save the
seat settings via the memory function.
Vehicles with memory function: press one of the
memory function position switches to stop the
adjustment process.
Setting the easy entry and exit feature

= The automatic seat adjustment has been acti-
vated (  page 111).

If you use the memory function on the driver\bs
side while driving, you could lose control of
the vehicle as a result of the adjustments
being made.
Only use the memory function on the driver\bs side when the vehicle is station-

adjusting the seat with the memory func-
tion
