calling up a driver pro"Nle
Selecting a user pro"Nle may trigger an adjust-
ment of the driver\bs seat to the position saved
under the user pro"Nle. You or other vehicle
occupants could be injured in the process.
Make sure that when the position of driv-
er\bs seat is being adjusted using the mul-
timedia system, no people or body parts
are in the seat\bs range of movement.
If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, immediately stop the adjustment process
by:
a) Pressing the warning message on the
central display.
or
b) Pressing a position button of the memory function or a seat adjustment
switch in the driver\bs door.
The adjustment process is stopped.
The driver\bs seat is equipped with an anti-entrap-
ment feature.
If the driver\bs door is open, the driver\bs seat will
not be set a"ser calling up the driver\bs pro"Nle.
User pro"Nles and user-speci"Nc content
Prerequisites for the vehicle owner:
= You have a Mercedes me user account.
= You have a Mercedes me PIN.
= You have agreed to the terms of use.
= The vehicle is linked to a Mercedes me user
account.
\bIf one of the pre-requisites listed is missing or if no user pro"Nle has been selected, the data
described in the following section will besaved in the vehicle as the standard setting.
Standard settings can be changed by all vehi- cle users.
User pro"Nles save personal settings. If the vehicle
is used by several people, a person can change
their pro"Nle settings without changing the settings
of other users.
You can individualize a user pro"Nle in the vehicle
using the set-up assistant or using the settings in
your user pro"Nle. Some settings, e.g. the
Mercedes me PIN and a pro"Nle photo are made in
the Mercedes me App or in the Mercedes me Por- tal.
User-speci"Nc content and applications with per-
sonal data are protected by di"Merent levels of
security. To access protected content, the
Mercedes me PIN and, depending on the vehicle equipment, biometric sensors can be used.
\bThe security level is set by the multimedia sys- tem and calculated from the combination of
all sensor inputs. Some security levels cannot
be turned o"M.MBUX multimedia system329

Overview of so"sware updates
Important so"sware updates may be necessary for
the security of your multimedia system\bs data.
Install these updates, or else the security of your multimedia system cannot be ensured.
The multimedia system displays a corresponding
message when a so"sware update is available.
If the Automatic Online Update option is active,
so"sware updates are downloaded automatically. If
the option is deactivated, you will be informed of
new so"sware updates once. The so"sware updates
are available for downloading for a limited period of time.
Carrying out a so"sware update:
= You can start so"sware updates via the com-
munication module.
= You can start so"sware updates via a Wi-Fi hot-
spot.
= You can start map updates from an external
medium.\bOnline so"sware updates cannot be performed
via external Wi-Fi hotspots that are encrypted
via TKIP.\bIf the Wi-Fi hotspot requires logging in via the browser, once the connection is successfully
established the browser will open in order to
start the update. Follow the instructions in the
browser in order to start the download.\bTo complete so"sware updates via the commu-
nication module, the vehicle must be connec-
ted with the Internet and a Mercedes me user
account.\bTo complete so"sware updates via Wi-Fi, the
vehicle must be connected to an external Wi-
Fi hotspot.
A so"sware update consists of three steps:
= Downloading or copying of the data required
for installation
= Installation of the downloaded so"sware
update
= Activation of the downloaded so"sware update
\bIt may be necessary to restart the MBUX mul-
timedia system a"ser completion of a so"sware
update.\bWhile some so"sware updates are being down-
loaded, the multimedia system cannot be operated and the vehicle functions may be
restricted.\bSome so"sware updates require a safe vehicle
status for the installation to be completed.
They can only be carried out in a safely
parked vehicle with the vehicle switched o"M.
For so"sware updates requiring a safe vehicle sta-
tus: when the last installation step is reached, a
message appears on the media display a"ser the
MBUX multimedia system333

vehicle is switched o"M. Follow the step-by-step
instructions on the media display to complete the
installation.
There are so"sware updates that can only be
installed when the vehicle is safely parked, there
are no more people in the vehicle and the vehicle
is locked.
Availability of the driver\bs and media display During the installation of so"sware updates, it is
not possible to use the vehicle, media display and
driver\bs display. You may receive the following dis- play message when an installation is running:\bThe display message does not appear every
time a so"sware update is installed. In rare cases, an error can occur during the instal-
lation. The multimedia system automatically
attempts to restore the previous version.
If it is not possible to restore the previous version, the display message shown above appears every
time the vehicle is started.
Failure of the driver\bs display
If the driver\bs display fails or there is a malfunc-
tion, you may not recognize limitations in the functions of systems relevant to safety or thespeed display, for example. The operating safety
of the vehicle may be impaired. Drive on carefully
and have the vehicle checked at a quali"Ned spe-
cialist workshop immediately ( page 486).
Further information about so"sware updates can
be found at https://me.secure.mercedes- benz.com
Failure of the media display
If the media display fails or the display message
shown above is shown continuously, several sys-
tems such as the rear view camera, Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC or climate control are no longer
available. Drive on carefully and consult a special-
ist workshop as soon as possible.Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot
Requirements: = The Wi-Fi function is activated on the multime-
dia system and the communication device tobe connected.
= The communication device to be connected
supports at least one of the types of connec-
tion described.
The connection types shown depend on the device to be connected. The function must be
supported by the multimedia system and by
the device to be connected. The type of con-
nection must be selected on the multimedia
system and on the device to be connected.
