Switching the steering wheel heater on/oM
Requirements:
= The ignition is switched on.
To switch on: push the switch into position
1 .
Indicator lamp 3 will light up.To switch oM: push the switch into position
2 .
Indicator lamp 3 will go out.
When you switch the ignition oM, the steering
wheel heater will switch oM.
Easy entry and exit feature
Using the easy entry and exit feature
&WARNING Risk of accident when pulling
away during the adjustment process of
the easy entry and exit feature
You could lose control of the vehicle.
Always wait until the adjustment process

Children could become trapped if they acti- vate the memory function, particularly when
unattended.
Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.When leaving the vehicle, always take the SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle.You can use the memory function when the igni-
tion is switched oM.
Seat adjustments for up to three people can be
stored and called up using the memory function.
You can save settings for the following systems: = Front seat
= Outside mirrors
=Head-up display
= Steering column
= Seat contour

Storing
Set the desired position for all systems.BrieOy press the V memory button and
then press preset position button 7, T
or U within three seconds.
An acoustic signal sounds. The settings are
stored.To call up: press and brieOy hold preset posi-
tion button 7, T or U .
Aser releasing the button, all systems are
moved into the stored position.

Seat adjustments for the front passenger seat and the rear passenger compartment seat can be
stored and called up using the rear passenger compartment seat memory function.
You can save the following settings for the front passenger seat:

button 7 or T .
The settings for the rear passenger compart-
ment seat are stored in the corresponding

When the indicator lamp lights up, the front
passenger seat is selected.Adjust the front passenger seat using the but-
tons on the door operating unit in the rear
passenger compartment (  page 98).Ensure that the indicator lamp in button 1
lights up.Press memory button M and, within three sec-
onds, press preset position button 7.
The settings for the front passenger seat and
the rear passenger compartment seat are
stored in the preset position.\bYou cannot store any settings on the buttons for setting and straightening the fully reclined
position.Calling upPress button 1.
When the indicator lamp lights up, the front

Notes on loading the vehicle
&DANGER Risk of exhaust gas poisoning
Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
gases such as carbon monoxide. Exhaust
gases can enter the vehicle interior if the tail-
gate is open when the engine is running, espe-
cially if the vehicle is in motion.
Always switch oM the engine before
opening the tailgate.Never drive with the tailgate open.&WARNING Risk of injury from unsecured
items in the vehicle
If objects, luggage or loads are not secured or
not secured suPciently, they could slip, tip
over or be thrown around and thereby hit vehi- cle occupants.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
Always stow objects in such a way that
they cannot be thrown around.Before the journey, secure objects, lug-
gage or loads against slipping or tipping
over.&WARNING Risk of injury due to objects
being stowed incorrectly
If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open storage spaces and mobile
phone receptacles cannot always retain all
objects within.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or abrupt changes in
direction.
Always store objects such that they can-
not be thrown around in such situations.Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from storage spaces, parcel
nets or storage nets.Seats and stowing125

Close the lockable storage spaces before
starting a journey.Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or too
large in the cargo compartment.&WARNING Risk of accident from objects in
the driver\bs footwell and front-passenger
footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell and front-
passenger footwell may impede pedal travel or
block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell or front-passenger footwell.Always install the Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always suPcient clearance for
the pedals.Do not use loose Ooor mats and do not
lay multiple Ooor mats on top of one
another.
Vehicles with automatic front passenger air bag
shut-oM: objects trapped under the front
passenger seat may interfere with the function of
the automatic front passenger air bag shut-oM or
damage the system. Please observe the notes on the function of the automatic front passenger airbag shut-oM ( page 48).

cargo compartment Ooor
If you drive with the cargo compartment Ooor
open, objects could be Oung around and hit
vehicle occupants as a result. There is a risk
of injury, particularly in the event of sudden
braking or a sudden change in direction.
Always close the cargo compartment Ooor before a journey.&WARNING !

away, braking and steering as well as rapid
cornering.

vehicle is fully loaded or fully occupied, select
