Priming/deactivating tow-away protection

Quick access 
Prime or deactivate Tow-away protection .
Tow-away protection is primed again in the follow-
ing cases:
= The v
ehicle is unlocked again.
= A door is opened.
= The vehicle is locked again.
% If quick access is unavailable, select the Vehi-
cle submenu in t
he Settings main menu to
prime or deactivate tow-away protection. Function of interior protection
When interior protection is primed, a visual and
audible alar

m is triggered if movement is detected
in the vehicle interior.
Interior protection is primed automatically aser
approximately ten seconds:
= aser locking the vehicle with the key
= aser locking the vehicle using KEYLESS-GO Interior protection is only primed when the follow-
ing com
ponents are closed:
= Doors
= Tailgate
Interior protection is automatically deactivated: = aser pressing the Ü or p button on the
key
= aser pressing the start/stop button with the
key in the stowage compartment

= aser unlocking the vehicle using KEYLESS-GO
= when using HANDS-FREE ACCESS
The following situations can lead to a false alarm:
= when there are moving objects suchas mas-
cots in the vehicle interior
= when a side window is open
= when a sliding sunroof is open

Notes on the correct driver's seat position

are adjusted while the vehicle is in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in partic-
ular in t
he following situations:
= If you adjust the driver's seat, the head
restraints, the steering wheel or the mirror
while the vehicle is in motion.
= If you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion. 
Before starting the engine: adjust the
dr

iver's seat, head restraints, steering
wheel and mirror in particular and fasten
your seat belt. Ensure the following when adjusting steering
wheel
1, seat belt 2 and dr

iver's seat 3:
= You are sitting as far away from the driver's
airbag as possible, taking the following points
into consideration:
= You are sitting in an upright position
= Your thighs are slightly supported by the seat
cushion =

our legs are not fully extended and you can
depress the pedals properly
= The back of your head is supported at eye
level by the centre of the head restraint
= You can hold the steering wheel with your
arms slightly bent
= You can move your legs freely
= You can see all the displays on the instrument
cluster clearly
= You have a good overview of the traPc condi-
tions
= Your seat belt sits snugly against your body
and passes across the centre of your shoulder
and across your hips in the pelvic area Seats

Children could become trapped if they adjust

he seats, particularly when unattended. Seats and stowing

When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become tr
apped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. 
Make sure when adjusting a seat that no
one has an

y body parts in the sweep of
the seat. Observe the safety notes on "Airbags" and "Chil-
dr

en in the vehicle". &

ing the vehicle settings while the vehicle is
in motion
You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-
lo
wing situations in particular:
= if you adjust the driver's seat, the head
restraint, the steering wheel or the mirror
while the vehicle is in motion
= if you fasten your seat belt while the vehi-
cle is in motion 
Before starting the vehicle: in particular,
adjus

steering wheel and mirror, and fasten
your seat belt. &

seat height is adjusted carelessly
If you adjust the seat height carelessly, you or
o
ther vehicle occupants could be trapped and
thereby injured. Children in particular could accidentally press

he electrical seat adjustment buttons and
become trapped. 
While moving the seats, make sure that
hands or o
ther body parts do not get
under the lever assembly of the seat
adjustment system. &
WARNING Risk of injur
y due to head
restraints not being Ntted or being adjus-
ted incorrectly
If head restraints have not been installed or
ha
ve not been adjusted correctly, there is an
increased risk of injury in the head and neck
area, e.g. in the event of an accident or when
braking. 
Always drive with the head restraints Nt-

ed.

e sure for every
vehicle occupant that the centre of the
head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye level. 110
Seats and stowing

Do not interchange the head restraints of the
fr ont and rear seats. Otherwise, you will not be
able to adjust the height and angle of the head
restraints correctly.
Adjust the head restraint fore-and-as position so
that it is as close as possible to the back of your
head. &

incorrect seat position
The seat belt will not oMer t
he intended level
of protection if you have not moved the seat
backrest to an almost vertical position.
In particular, you may slip under the seatbelt
and injure yourself. 
Adjust the seat properly before begin-
ning y

our journey. 
Always ensure that the seat backrest is
in an almos

t vertical position and that
the shoulder section of your seat belt is
routed across the centre of your shoul-
der. &

strain on the grab handle
If you apply your full body weight to the grab
handle or pull it abr
uptly, the grab handle may
be damaged or become loose from its anchor-
age. 
Use the grab handles only to stabilise

he seating position or to assist in get-
ting in and out of the seat. &

objects under the co-driver seat
Objects trapped under the co-driver seat can

erfere with the function of the automatic
co-driver airbag shutoM or damage the system. 
Do not store any objects under the co-

iver seat. 
When the co-driver seat is occupied,

to the cockpit
The front airbags can also injure the occu-
pants in t
he front of the vehicle. 
Always adjust the front seats so they are
as f
ar away as possible from the front
airbags. 
In addition, observe the notes on correct
seat adjus
tment. Requirements:
= The po

wer supply is switched on. You can call up the following functions for the

ont passenger seat:
= Seat adjustment
= Seat heating
= Seat ventilation
= Memory function 
To select the front passenger seat: pr

When the indicator lamp lights up, the front
passenger seat is selected. 
Adjust the front passenger seat using the but-

ons on the driver's side door operating unit. 
To select the driver's seat: pr

again.
When the indicator lamp goes out, the driver's

passenger seat is selected. 
Adjust the front passenger seat using the but-
t

ons on the door operating unit in the rear
passenger compartment ( page 114). %
Mercedes-Maybach vehicles: if t
he front
passenger seat is in the foremost position,
you can set the seat backrest at a very steep
angle. This will provide a better forward view
from the rear compartment.
Despite the steep angle of the seat backrest,
a person may occupy the front passenger
seat. Adjusting the 4-way lumbar support

he case, fold up the leg rest and engage it. Attaching and removing the additional cushion of

he leg rest Use the additional cushion only when the vehicle

tationary. The additional cushion is in the vehi-
cle.

leg rest. 
Pull the rubber straps laterally over the leg

emove the rubber straps from the
leg rest and stow the additional cushion safely

If the seat backrest of the rear seat is folded

orwards, persons in the third row of seats
may hit parts of the seat mechanism, espe-
cially in the event of an accident, braking
manoeuvre or abrupt change of direction. 
If there is a person in the third row of
seats, t

he rear seat in front of them must
be folded back to the driving position
before the journey begins. 
Persons in the third row of seats should
no

t rest their legs on a seat backrest
that has been folded forwards. Always ensure that all vehicle occupants have
t

heir seat belts fastened correctly and are sitting
properly. Particular attention must be paid to chil-
dren. 116
Seats and stowing

If you no longer require the seat backrest to be
f olded down for loading or for getting in and out,
fold it back into place. &

apped if the
seat is not engaged
The seat does not engage when folded for-
w
ards. The seat can fold backwards unexpect-
edly, e.g. when accelerating, braking or in the
event of an abrupt change of direction or an
accident.
People in the seat's sweep can become trap-
ped. 
If a seat is folded forwards, always fold it
bac

k before driving oM. 
Make sure that the seat is engaged. If a seat on the second row of seats is not
eng

aged, this will be shown on the multifunction
display on the instrument cluster.
Requirements: = The ar

ea into which the rear seat is folded is
clear. =
The r
ear seat has been folded up.
= Vehicles with comfort seating: the centre arm-
rest is folded up.
= Vehicles with an extended centre console: the
stowage compartment in the centre console is
closed.
= Vehicles with a folding rear armrest: the rear
armrest has been folded up.
= Vehicles with centre seat backrests: the
centre seat backrest has been folded up.
Folding the rear seat into the front position
You can fold the seats on the second row of seats
forwards for the following situations: = For easier access to the luggage compartment
= Vehicles with a third row of seats: for getting
in or out
Vehicles with a centre seat backrest: the centre
rear seat folds forwards and backwards together
with the les rear seat. Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can fold
t
he rear seats forwards as follows:
= Six-seater: on the right-hand side of the vehi-
cle only
= Seven-seater with centre seat backrest: both
sides
% To increase the size of the luggage compart-
ment, y

ou can move the seat backrests into
the luggage compartment Ooor position
