Make sure that the child's feet do not touch

he front seat. If necessary, move the front
seat slightly forwards.
® When Ntting an ISOFIX c
hild restraint sys-
tem, also observe the following:
s When using a baby car seat in weight group
0/0+ and a r
earward-facing child restraint
system in weight group 1 on a rear seat:
adjust the front seat so that the seat does
not touch the child restraint system.
s When using a forward-facing child restraint
sy

stem in weight group 1: remove the head
restraint from the respective seat, if possible.
In addition, the backrest of the child restraint
system must lie as Oat as possible against
the backrest of the vehicle seat.
Aser the child restraint system has been
removed, replace the head restraint immedi-
ately and adjust all head restraints correctly.
s When using a child restraint system on a
seat on t
he third row of seats: adjust the
front seat so that it does not touch the child
restraint system and move the seat backrest of the front seat into an upright position if
necessar

y.
s If the head restraint of the child seat cannot
be full

y extended when it is installed in the
vehicle, this will result in restrictions on the
maximum size setting for child restraint sys-
tems in weight group 2 or 3.
Contact with the roof when the head
restraint is fully extended and locked in place
will not result in any restrictions on use.
s The child restraint system must not be put
under s
train between the roof and the seat
cushion and/or be Ntted facing the wrong
direction. Where possible, adjust the seat
cushion inclination accordingly.
s The child restraint system must not be put
under s
train by the head restraint. Adjust the
head restraints as appropriate.

The rear seat backrests may fold forwards

As a result, child restraint systems will no lon-
ger be able to perform their intended protec-
tive function. This may also cause additional
injuries.

h a Top Tether belt: The risk of injury may be reduced by Top

additional connection between the child
restraint system attached with ISOFIX or

system manufacturer's installation instructions.

passenger seat = If it is absolutely necessary for you to Nt a

seat, be sure to observe the information on
child restraint systems on the front passenger
seat (  page 78).
= Observe the speciNc instructions for the rear-
ward-facing and forward-facing child restraint
systems. If the front passenger seat is occu-
pied, ensure, both before and during the jour-
ney, that the status of the front passenger air-
bag is correct for the current situation
( page 54).

The rear bench seat, rear seat and seat back-
r
est may fold forwards, even while the vehicle
is in motion.
= As a result, the vehicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
force. The seat belt will not be able to pro-
tect as intended and could cause addi-
tional injury.
= Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained by the seat
backrest. 
Make sure that the rear bench seat, the
r
ear seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. If the seat backrest is not engaged and locked in
place, t
his will be shown on the display on the
instrument display (folding the rear seat back Occupant safety

electrically) or the red lock

will be visible (folding the rear seat back mechani-
cally).
When Ntting a belt-secured child restraint system,
observe the following:
s Always comply with the manufacturer's
ins

tallation and operating instructions for the
child restraint system used.
s For a child restraint system in the "Universal"
or "Semi-U
niversal" category, make sure that
the system has been approved for the vehicle
seat.
Observe the notes under "Suitability of seats
for attaching belt-secured child restraint sys-
tems" ( page 73).
s When using a weight category 0/0+ baby
car seat and a w
eight category I rearward-
facing child restraint system on a rear seat:
adjust the front seat so that the seat does
not touch the child restraint system.
s When using a weight category I forward-
f
acing child restraint system: remove the
head restraint from the respective seat, if
possible. Aser

he child restraint system has been

ately and adjust all head restraints correctly.
s The backrest of the forward-facing child

estraint system must, as far as possible, be
resting on the seat backrest of the rear seat.
s If the head restraint of the child seat cannot

tems in weight category II or III.
Contact with the roof when the head

Install the child restraint system.
The entir

must always rest on the seat surface of the
rear seat. 
Always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
is cor
rectly routed from the seat belt outlet of
the vehicle to the shoulder belt guide on the
child restraint system.
The shoulder belt strap must be routed
forward from the seat belt outlet. 76
