Quick reference COMAND
Activating the sound functions*
In any audio source operation:
Activate the main menu for the
respective operating mode
(
page 31).
Press the Sound soft key.
The Sound menu will appear.
Push the joystick to g or G to
select the desired function.
Press E.
The function is activated.The Rear view camera is activated by
shifting into reverse gear. The area behind
the vehicle appears in the COMAND
screen if COMAND is already switched on.
If COMAND is switched on while in reverse,
the Rear view camera display will appear
immediately following the COMAND start-
up screens.
Switch back to the COMAND operating
mode
Shift into P, N or D.
or
Press A, b, c, C, a,
B while in reverse to activate the
corresponding main menu (
page 31).
Rear view camera*i
The following audio sources remain
available while the Rear view camera is
activated:
FM/AM radio, Weather band WB
CD (CD drive, CD changer*)
MP3 CD
AUX (RSE, if equipped)
Satellite radio*
Telephone (ringing, talking)
Navigation announcements

Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) operation*
Subtitle soft key:
You can display and switch between
the subtitles.
Angle soft key:
You can change the camera view, if
possible.
Back soft key:
Switches back to the soft key display.
Changing the aspect ratio
You can manually change the aspect ratio
during playback of the DVD.
Turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
top left soft key. Press the thumb
wheel in succession to scroll to each
ratio.Possible aspect ratios are:
4:3, 16:9 and
Zoom.
The soft key indicates the aspect ratio to
which you will change when you press the
thumb wheel.Changing the DVD language
In the Setting menu (page 104), turn
the thumb wheel to highlight the
Lang. soft key and press to select.
The language list is displayed. The con-
tent of the list depends on which langu-
ages the DVD supports.
Use g or G to select a language.
Press E.
The selected language is set.

Zoom is useful to watch movies in cine-
matic aspect ratio. You can use this
function to reduce the width of the
black bars at the top and bottom.
i
You can only change the DVD language
if the DVD supports several languages.
Some DVDs allow the language to be
selected exclusively in the menu on the
DVD.

Displaying and switching between
subtitles
In the Setting menu (page 104), turn
the thumb wheel to highlight the
Sub-
title
soft key and press to select.
The subtitles list will appear. The
content of the list depends on the DVD.
Use g or G to select a subtitle.
Press E.
The selected subtitles are active.
or
Use g to select list entry None.
Press E.
Subtitling is switched off.
Changing the camera view
In the Setting menu (page 104),
turn the thumb wheel to highlight the
Angle soft key and press to select.
A list of the available camera views will
appear.
Use g or G to select the desired ca-
mera view.
Press E.
The selected camera view is active.
Adjusting the tone
Turn the thumb wheel while the soft
keys are displayed (
page 102) to
highlight the
Tone soft key and press
to select.
A submenu will appear.

These functions are available only if the
DVD supports subtitles. When you in-
sert a DVD, subtitles may be switched
off.
Some DVDs allow the subtitling func-
tion to be selected only from the menu
on the DVD.
i
You can only change the camera view if
several camera views are stored on the
DVD. The number of available
camera views depends on the DVD.
Some DVDs supporting different
camera views do not offer a switch
option. In this case, select the camera
view in the Settings menu.

Entering the unlock code
Use the number keys 1 through 0
to enter the four-digit unlock code.
Asterisks instead of digits will appear in
the input line.
Press the OK soft key.
If entered code is correct and the pho-
ne is registered in a network, the phone
is ready for use and the Telephone

Your unlock code prevents unauthori-
zed persons from using your telephone.

If you enter an incorrect code, the sys-
tem returns to the menu for entering the
unlock code.

You must always enter the unlock code
when you switch on the telephone the
first time (if phone is in locked mode).

If COMAND is switched on while in re-
verse in vehicles equipped with Rear
view camera*, the enter unlock code
screen will appear after deactivating the
Rear view camera (
page 39).

Telephone operation
The system detects an incoming call, the
phone rings.
Incoming calls are indicated in a window in
any system (e.g. radio).
The window shows:
the caller’s number if it is transmitted
or
the caller’s name if her or his name and
number are saved in the phone book or
Unknown.Accepting a call
Press k.
or
Press E to confirm accept.
The display will change to the
call menu (
page 141). In the status
bar, the off-hook symbol will appear.
An active audio source will be muted.
You talk over the hands-free set.
Rejecting a call
Press K.

Push the joystick to H to highlight

Raising the volume
Turn the rotary control on the e but-
ton to the right.
Lowering the volume
Turn the rotary control on the e but-
ton to the left.
Ending a call
Press K.

Incoming call

In vehicles equipped with Rear view
camera*, the window will appear over
the Rear view camera display. After ac-
cepting or rejecting a call, the Rear view
camera is fully visible until deactivated
(
page 39).
