&WARNING Risk of injury from fuels
Fuels are poisonous and hazardous to your
health.
Do not swallow fuel or let it come into
contact with skin, eyes or clothing.Do not inhale fuel vapor.Keep children away from fuel.Keep doors and windows closed during
the refueling process.
If you or other people come into contact with
fuel, observe the following:
Immediately rinse fuel o"M your skin with
soap and water. If fuel comes into contact with your eyes, immediately rinse them thoroughly with
clean water. Seek medical attention
immediately. If you swallow fuel, seek medical atten-
tion immediately. Do not induce vomit-
ing.Change immediately out of clothing that has come into contact with fuel.Flexible-fuel vehicles can be refueled with the fol-lowing fuel types:
= premium-grade unleaded gasoline
= E85 fuel
= a mixture of E85 fuel and premium-grade
unleaded gasoline
Flexible-fuel vehicles can be identi"Ned by the
Ethanol up to E85 sticker on the inside of the fuel
"Nller "Oap.
Depending on the country, the fuels you can use in your vehicle may di"Mer from the information in
the Operator\bs Manual. The fuels that have been
approved for your vehicle can be found on the
instruction label on the inside of the fuel "Nller "Oap.Fuel
q Information on fuel quality for vehicles with a
gasoline engine
Observe the notes on operating "Ouids
( page 478).
*NOTE Damage caused by the wrong fuel
Even small amounts of the wrong fuel could
result in damage to the fuel system, the
engine and the emission control system.
Only refuel with low-sulfur spark-ignition
engine fuel.
This fuel may contain up to 10% ethanol by vol- ume. Your vehicle is suitable for use with E10 fuel.
Never refuel with one of the following fuels: = diesel
= Gasoline with more than 10% ethanol by
volume, e.g. E15, E85, E100
= Gasoline with more than 3% methanol by
volume, e.g. M15, M30, M85, M100
Technical data479

=Gasoline with additives containing metal
If you have accidentally refueled with the
wrong fuel:Do not switch on the vehicle.Consult a quali"Ned specialist workshop.
If the available fuel is not su"Pciently low in sulfur,
it may produce unpleasant odors.
\bVehicles with gasoline engine M256: when
using 91 AKI/95 RON, there may be slight
limitations in performance that have no fur-
ther consequences.
Refuel using only fuel that has at least the octane number speci"Ned on the information label on the
fuel "Nller "Oap ( page 226).
For maximum engine output: refuel using only pre-
mium-grade gasoline with an octane number of at
least 91 AKI/95 RON.
As a temporary measure, if the recommended fuel is not available, you may also use regular gasoline
with an octane number of at least 87 AKI/
91 RON.
*NOTE Premature wear through unleaded
regular gasoline
Unleaded regular gasoline can cause the
engine to wear more quickly and impair lon-
gevity and performance.
If unleaded premium grade gasoline is unavail-
able and you have to refuel using unleaded
regular gasoline with 87 AKI/91 RON:
Only "Nll the fuel tank to half full with
unleaded regular gasoline and top up as
soon as possible with unleaded premium
grade gasoline.Do not drive at the maximum speed.Avoid sudden acceleration and engine
speeds over 3000 rpm.
This may reduce engine output and increase fuel
consumption. Never refuel using gasoline with a
lower octane number.
Further information on fuel is available at the fol- lowing locations:
= At a gas station
= At a quali"Ned specialist workshop

On the https://www.mbusa.com (USA only)
q Information on additives in gasoline (vehicles
with gasoline engine)
Observe the notes on operating "Ouids
( page 478).*NOTE Damage from use of unsuitable
additives
Even small amounts of the wrong additive may
lead to malfunctions occurring.
Only add cleaning additives recommen-
ded by Mercedes-Benz to the fuel.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use brand-
name fuels with additives.
In some countries, the fuel available may not have
su"Pcient additives. Deposits could build up in the
fuel injection system as a result. In this case, in consultation with a quali"Ned specialist workshop
(e.g. an authorized Mercedes-Benz Service Cen- ter), mix the fuel with the cleaning additive recom-
mended by Mercedes-Benz. Observe the notes and mixing ratios indicated on the tank.

To achieve the lowest possible fuel consumption, it is recommended to use the engine oil speci"Nca-
tions marked in the table with the lowest SAE vis-
cosity class. Possible restrictions of the approved SAE viscosity classes must be observed.

Notes on brake "Ouid
Observe the notes on operating "Ouids
( page 478).
&WARNING Risk of an accident due to
vapor pockets forming in the brake system
The brake "Ouid constantly absorbs moisture
from the air. This lowers the boiling point of
the brake "Ouid. If the boiling point is too low,
vapor pockets may form in the brake system
when the brakes are applied hard.
This causes the braking e"Mect to be impaired.Have the brake "Ouid renewed at the
speci"Ned intervals.Have the brake "Ouid regularly replaced at a quali-
"Ned specialist workshop.
Only use a brake "Ouid approved by Mercedes-
Benz according to MB-Freigabe or MB-Approval 331.0.
Coolant
q Notes on coolant
Observe the notes on operating "Ouids
( page 478).
&WARNING !

Allow the engine to cool down before
adding antifreeze.Make sure that no antifreeze spills out
next to the "Nller opening.Thoroughly clean o"M any antifreeze from
component parts before starting the
vehicle.*NOTE Damage caused by incorrect cool-
antOnly use coolant that has been premixed
with the required antifreeze protection.
Information on coolant is available at the fol-
lowing locations:
= In the Mercedes-Benz Speci"Ncation for
Operating Fluids 320.1
- At https://operating"Ouids.mercedes-
benz.com
= At a quali"Ned specialist workshop
*NOTE Overheating at high outside temper-
atures
If an inappropriate coolant is used, the cooling
system is not su"Pciently protected against
overheating and corrosion at high outside
temperatures.
Only use coolant approved for
Mercedes-Benz.Observe the instructions in the Mercedes-Benz Speci"Ncations for Oper-
ating Fluids 320.1.
Have the coolant regularly replaced at a quali"Ned
specialist workshop.
Proportion of antifreeze concentrate in the cool- ing system:
= A minimum of 50% (antifreeze protection down
to about -35°F (-37°C))
= A maximum of 55% (antifreeze protection
down to -49°F (-45°C))

The time taken to charge the battery depends on
the state of charge of the battery, the ambient temperature and the charging capacity of the bat-tery. The charging capacity, in turn, depends on
the supply voltage, the current intensity and the
type of power supply.
The nominal voltage range for your vehicle can be found on the information label in the socket cover ( page 230).488Technical data
