System limitations
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONI Cdoes no tnecessa‐
ri ly take into account thefo llowing obs tacles:
RObs tacles bel ow the detection range, e.g.
pe rsons, animals or objects.
RObs tacles ab oveth e de tection range, e.g.
ove rhanging loads, overhangs or loading
ra mp s of truc k.
The sensors must be free of dirt, ice and slush.
Otherwise, they may not function cor rectly.
Clean the sensors regularly, taking care not to
scratch or damage them.
Fu nction of the passive side impact pr otec‐
tion
Pa ssive side impact pr otection is an additional
Pa rking Assist PARKTRONI Cfunction whic h
wa rnsth e driver about obs tacles at the side of
th eve hicle. A warning is issued when obs tacles
are de tected between the front and rear de tec‐
tion range. In order for an object tobe de tected,
th e sensors in the front and rear bumper must
de tect the object while you are driving past it. During
the parking procedure or maneuvering,
objects are de tected as theve hicle drives past.
If yo usteer in the direction of a de tected obs ta‐
cle and there is a risk of a lateral collision, a
wa rning is issued. The lateral segments light up
orange or red, depending on the dis tance tothe
obs tacl
e.

In order for lateral front or rear segments tobe

up.
The rear view camera is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe maneu vering and
pa rking remains with you. Make sure that there
are no persons, animals or objects in the maneu‐
ve ring area while maneu vering and pa rking in
parking spaces.

Sy stem failure
If th ere is no operational readiness, thefo llowing
message appears in the multimedia sy stem:
Sy stem limitations
The rear view camera will not function or will
only pa rtially function in thefo llowing situations:
RThe trunk lid is open.
RThere is heavy rain, snow or fog.
RThe light conditions are poor, e.g. at night.
RThe camera lens is obstructed, dirty or mis‐
te d up. Obser vethe no tes on cleaning the
re ar view camera (
→page 336).
RThe camera or rear of your vehicle is dam‐
aged. In this case, ha vethe camera and its
position and setting checked at a qualified
specialist workshop.
The field of vision and other functions of there ar
view camera may be restricted due toadditional
accessori es onthere ar of theve hicle (e.g.
license plate brac ket or bicycle rack ).
% The contrast of the display may be impaired
by direct sunlight or by other light sources,
e.g. when driving out of a garage . In this
case, pay particular attention. %

360° camera
Fu nction of the 360° Camera
The 360° Camera is a sy stem that consists of
fo ur cameras. The cameras co verth e immediate
ve hicle sur roundings. The sy stem assists you,
e.g. when parking or at exits with reduced visibil‐
ity.
The 360° Camera is only an aid. It is not a sub‐
st itute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe maneu vering and
pa rking remains with you. Make sure that there
are no persons, animals or objects in the maneu‐
ve ring area while maneu vering and pa rking in
parking spaces.
The sy stem evaluates images from thefo llowing

Sy stem limitations
The 360° Camera will not function or will only
partially function in thefo llowing situations:
RThe doors are open.
RThe side mir rors are folded in.
RThe trunk lid is open.
RThere is heavy rain, snow or fog.
RThe ambient light are poor, e.g. at night.
RThe camera lens is obstructed, dirty or fog‐
ge d up.
RCameras, or vehicle components in which
th e cameras are ins talled, are damaged. In
th is eve nt, ha vethe cameras, their positions
and their setting checked at a qualified spe‐
cialist workshop.
Do not use the 360° Camera under such circum‐
st ances. You could otherwise injure others or
collide with objects when parking theve hicle.
On vehicles with height-adjus table suspension or
if th eve hicle is car rying a heavy load, leaving the
st andard height can result in inaccuracies in the
guide lines and in the display of thege nerated
ima ges, depending on tech nical conditions.
The field of vision and other functions of the
came rasystem may be restricted due toaddi‐
tional attachments on there ar of theve hicle
(e.g. license plate brac ket, bicycle rack ).

Active Parking Assist
Fu nction of Active Parking Assist
Ac tive Parking Assist is an elect ronic pa rking
assis tance sy stem which uses ultrasound and is
automatically activated during forw ard tra vel.
The sy stem is operational at speeds of up to
appr oximately 22 mph (35 km/h). When all the
conditions are ful filled, thec symbol appears
in the multifunction display in the instrument
clus ter and the sy stem automatically sear ches
fo r and measu res parking spaces on bo thsides
of theve hicle parallel and perpendicular tothe
direction of tr avel. If Active Parking Assist is acti‐
va ted, suitable parking spaces are shown in the display of
the multimedia sy stem. The ësym‐
bol appears in the display of the multimedia sys‐
te m. The ar rowsshow on which side of thero ad
free parking spaces are located.
The parking space and, if necessar y,the parking
direction can be selected as desired. Active
Pa rking Assist calculates a suitable vehicle path
and assists you in parking and exiting the park‐
ing space.
Ac tive Parking Assist pr ovides assis tance when
ch anging gear, accelerating, braking and steer‐
ing theve hicle.
Ac tive Parking Assist is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe maneu vering and
pa rking remains with yo
u. Make sure that n

persons, animals or objects etc. are in the
maneu vering range.
Ac tive Parking Assist is canceled if, among other

Sy stem limitations
Objects located abo veor below the de tection
ra nge of Active Parking Assist are not de tected
when the parking space is being measured.
These are also not take n into account when the
parking maneuver is calculated, e.g. overhanging
loads, overhangs or loading ramp s of truc ksor
th e boundaries of parking spaces. In some cir‐
cums tances, Active Parking Assist may therefore
guide you into the parking space prematurely.

If th ere are objects abo veor below the
de tection range, thefo llowing situations may
arise:
RAc tive Parking Assist may steer too early.
RVe hicles with automatic transmis‐
sion: Thevehicle may not stop in front of
th ese objects.
This could cause a collision.
#In these situations, do not use Active
Pa rking Assist.
Sn owfa ll or heavy rain may lead toa parking
space being measured inaccuratel y.Pa rking
spaces that are partial lyoccupied bytrailer
dr aw bars might not be identified as such or be
measured incor rectly. Only use Active Parking
Assist on le vel, high-grip ground.
Do no t useActive Parking Assist in thefo llowing
situations:
RIn extreme weather conditions such as ice,
pac ked snow or in heavy rain.
RIfyo u are transporting a load that pr otru des
be yond theve hicle.
RIfth e parking space is on a steep downhill or
uphill gradient.
RIf yo u ha veinstalled snow chains. Ac
tive Parking Assist may also display parking
spaces that are not suitable for parking, e.g.:
RPa rking spaces where parking is prohibited.
RPa rking spaces on unsuitable sur faces.
Ac tive Parking Assist will not assist youwit h
parking spaces at right angles tothe direction of
tr ave l in thefo llowing situations:
RIf two parking spaces are located immedi‐
ately next toeach other.
RIfth e parking space is directly next toa low
obs tacle such as a low curb.
Ac tive Parking Assist will not assist you with
parking spaces at right angles tothe direction of
tr ave l in thefo llowing situat ions:
