Resetting values

Navigation system menu
Displaying navigation instructions
In the Navimenu, the multifunction display
shows navigation instructions. Further infor-
mation on navigation (see the separate oper-
ating instructions).

On multilane roads, new lane recommenda-
tions can be displayed for the next change of
direction if the digital map supports this data.
During the change of direction, new lanes
may be added.

able to complete the next change of direction
if you stay in this lane.
Recommended lane and new lane during a
change of direction ?: in this lane you will be
able to complete the next two changes of
direction without changing lane.
Other status indicators of the naviga-
tion system
The navigation system displays additional
information and the vehicle status.
RO: you have reached the destination or an
intermediate destination.
RNew Route...or Calculating Route:
calculating a new route
ROff Mapor OffMappedRoad: the vehicle
position is inside the area of the digital map but the road is not recognize, e.g. new
roads, car parks or private land
RNo Route: no route could be calculated to
the selected destination
Audio menu
Selecting a radio station
:Frequency range

The multifunction display shows station ;
with station frequency or station name. The
preset position is only displayed along with
station ;if this has been stored.
XSwitch on the audio system or COMAND
and select Radio; see the separate operat-

Operating an audio player or audio
media
Audio data from various audio devices or
media can be played, depending on the equip-ment installed in the vehicle.
XSwitch on COMAND and select audio CD or
MP3 mode, see the separate operating
instructions.
XPress the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio
menu.
XTo select the next/previous track:
briefly press the9or: button.
XTo select a track from the track list
(rapid scrolling): press and hold the 9
or : button until desired track :
appears.
If you press and hold the 9or:
button, the rapid scrolling speed is
increased. Not all audio drives or data car-
riers support this function.
If track information is stored on the audio
device or medium, the multifunction display
will show the number and title of the track.
The current track does not appear in audio
AUX mode (Auxiliary audio mode: external
audio source connected).
Video DVD operation
XSwitch on COMAND and select video DVD
(see the separate operating instructions).
XPress the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio
menu.
XTo select the next or previous scene:

XTo select a scene from the scene list
(rapid scrolling): press and hold the 9

Telephone menu
Introduction
GWARNING
If you operate information systems and com-
munication equipment integrated in the vehi-
cle while driving, you will be distracted from
traffic conditions. You could also lose control
of the vehicle. There is a risk of an accident.
Only operate the equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that this
is possible, park the vehicle paying attention
to traffic conditions and operate the equip-
ment when the vehicle is stationary.
When telephoning, you must observe the
legal requirements for the country in which
you are currently driving.
XSwitch on the mobile phone (see the man-
ufacturer’s operating instructions).
XSwitch on COMAND (see the separate
operating instructions).
XEstablish a Bluetooth®connection to
COMAND, see the separate operating
instructions.

No network is available or the mobile phone
is searching for a network.
Accepting a call
If someone calls you when you are in the Tel
menu, a display message appears in the mul-
tifunction display.
You can accept a call at any time, even if you
are not in theTel
menu.
XPress the6button on the steering
wheel to accept an incoming call.
Rejecting or ending a call
You can end or reject a call anytime, even if
you are not in the Tel
menu.
XPress the~button on the steering
wheel to reject or end a call.
Selecting an entry in the phone book
XPress the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Tel
menu.
XPress the9,:ora button to
switch to the phone book.
XAuthorize access to the phone book on the
phone.
XPress :or9 to select the names
one after the other.

XTo start rapid scrolling: press and hold
the : or9 button for longer than
one second.
The names in the phone book are displayed quickly one after the other. Rapid scrolling stops when you release the
button or reach the end of the list.
XIf only one telephone number is stored
for a name: press the6ora button
to start dialing.

XIf there is more than one number for a
particular name: press the6ora
button to display the numbers.
XPress the 9or: button to select the
number you want to dial.
XPress the 6ora button to start dial-

Redialing
The on-board computer saves the last names
or numbers dialed in the redial memory.

you to choose whether the multifunction dis-
play always shows the outside temperature or
the speed in km/h. Canada only: the speed is
shown in mph. The speed display is inverse to
the speedometer.

XBefore leaving the vehicle, turn the Smart-
Key to position 0in the ignition lock.

tion lock.
The exterior lighting delayed switch-off is
deactivated.

Delayed switch-off of the exterior lighting is
reactivated the next time you start the
engine.
If you have activated theSurround Light‐
ingfunction and you turn the light switch to
Ã, the following functions are activated
when it is dark:
Rsurround lighting: the exterior lighting
remains lit for 40 seconds after unlocking
with the SmartKey. If you start the engine,
the surround lighting is switched off and
automatic headlamp mode is activated
(
Ypage 108).
Rexterior lighting delayed switch-off: the
exterior lighting remains lit for 60 seconds
after the engine is switched off. If you close
all the doors and the trunk lid, the exterior
lighting goes off after 15 second s.
iDepending on your vehicle's equipment,
when the surround lighting and delayed
switch-off exterior lighting are on, the fol-
lowing light up:
RParking lamps
RLow-beam headlamps
RDaytime running lamps
RSide marker lamps
RSurround lighting in the exterior mirrors
Activating/deactivating the interior light-
ing delayed switch-off
If you activate the Interior Lighting
Delayfunction, the interior lighting remains
on for 20 seconds after you remove the
SmartKey from the ignition lock.

door locking mechanism
If you activate the Automatic Door Lock
function, the vehicle is centrally locked above
a speed of approximately 9 mph (15 km/h).

locking verification signal
If you switch on the Acoustic
Lockfunction,
an acoustic signal sounds when you lock the
vehicle.

ENTRY/EXIT feature
GWARNING
When the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature adjusts
the steering wheel, you and other vehicle

occupants – particularly children – could
become trapped. There is a risk of injury.
While the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature is mak-
ing adjustments, make sure that no one has
any body parts in the sweep of the steering
wheel.
If somebody becomes trapped:
Rpress one of the memory function position
buttons, or
Rmove the switch for steering wheel adjust-
ment in the opposite direction to that in
which the steering wheel is moving.
The adjustment process is stopped.
XPress the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Sett.
menu.
XPress the:or9 button to select the
Convenience
submenu.
XPress ato confirm.

Easy Entry/Exit

If the Easy Entry/Exit

Switching the belt adjustment on/off

function is activa-

Ypage 45). Switching the fold-in mirrors when lock-
ing feature on/off
This function is only available when the vehi-
cle is equipped with the electrical fold-in func-
tion.
This function is only available in Canada.
When you activate the Auto.
MirrorFold‐
ingfunction, the exterior mirrors are folded
in when the vehicle is locked.
If you unlock the vehicle and then open the
driver's or front-passenger door, the exterior
mirrors fold out again.
If you have switched on the Auto. Mirror
Foldingfunction and you fold in the exterior
mirrors using the button on the door
(
Ypage 104), they will not fold out automat-
ically. The exterior mirrors can then only be
folded out using the button on the door.

Engine and transmission oil temperature:
when the engine and transmission are at nor-
mal operating temperature, oil tempera-
ture ?and Bare displayed in white in the
multifunction display.
If the multifunction display shows oil temper-
ature ?orB in blue, the engine or the
transmission are not yet at normal operating
temperature. Avoid driving at full engine out-
put during this time.
SETUP

SETUP shows the drive program, the ESP
®
(Electronic Stability Program) mode and the
SPORT handling mode.

RACETIMER
Displaying and starting RACETIMER
The RACETIMER is only intended for use on a
closed race circuit. Do not use the function on
public roads.

You can start the RACETIMER when the
engine is running or if the SmartKey is in posi-
tion 2in the ignition lock.

ing wheel to select the AMG

XPress the9button repeatedly until the
RACETIMER appears.

RACETIMER.
