Coasting
Concept The function helps to conserve fuel.
To do this, under certain conditions the engine
is automatically decoupled from the transmis~ sion when selector lever position D is set. Thevehicle continues traveling with the engineidling to reduce fuel consumption. Selectorlever position D remains engaged.
This driving condition is referred to as coasting.
As soon as you step on the brake or accelerator
pedal, the engine is automatically coupled again.
Generalinformation
Coasting is a component of the GREEN driving
mode.
Coasting is automatically activated when the
GREEN driving mode is called via the MINI Driv~
ing Modes switch, refer to page 139.
A proactive driving style helps the driver to use
the function often and supports the fuel-con~
serving effect of coasting.
