NOTEzDo not leave the lights on for a long time
while the Plug-in Hybrid EV System is sta-tionary (not operating). A run-down auxili- ary battery could result.
z When it rains, or when the vehicle has been
washed, the inside of the lens sometimes be-
comes foggy, but this does not indicate a
functional problem.
When the lamp is switched on, the heat will remove the fog. However, if water gathers
inside the lamp, we recommend you to have it checked.
Rotate the switch to turn on the lamps.

AUTO
When the operation mode of the
power switch is ON, headlamps,
position-, tail-, licence plate-, in-
strument panel lamps and down-
light are turned on and off auto-
matically in accordance with out-
side light level. {The daytime
running lamps will go on while
the tail lamps are off.` All lamps
go off automatically when the
operation mode is put in OFF.Position, tail, licence plate, in-

onNOTEz The sensitivity of the automatic on/off con-

On vehicles equipped with the Smartphone-
link Display Audio (SDA) or the Smart-
phone-link Display Audio (SDA) navigation
system, screen operations can be used to make the adjustment.
Refer to the separate owner’s manual for de- tails.NOTEz When the headlamps are turned off by the
automatic on/off control with the operation
mode in ON, the front fog lamps and rear fog lamps also go off. When the headlamps
are subsequently turned back on by the auto-
matic on/off control, the front fog lamps also come on but the rear fog lamp stays off. If
you wish to turn the rear fog lamp back on, operate the switch again.
z Do not cover the sensor (A) for the automat-
ic on/off control by affixing a sticker or label
to the windscreen.
z If the lamps do not turn on or off with the
switch in the “AUTO” position, manually
operate the switch and we recommend you
to have your vehicle checked.

Lamps (headlamps, fog lamps,etc.) auto-cutout function
z If the operation mode of the power
switch is put in OFF or ACC while the
lamp switch is in the “
” position, the
lamps will turn off automatically when the driver’s door is opened.
z If the operation mode of the power
switch is put in OFF or ACC while the lamp switch is in the “
” position, the
lamps will remain on for about 3 mi-
nutes while the driver’s door is shut and will then automatically turn off.
NOTEz The lamp auto-cutout will not function when
the lamp switch is in the “” position.
z The lamp auto-cutout function can also be
disabled.

thorized Service Point.
On vehicles equipped with the Smartphone-
link Display Audio (SDA) or the Smart- phone-link Display Audio (SDA) navigation
system, screen operations can be used to

lamps on:
1. Turn the lamp switch in the “OFF” posi-
tion while the operation mode of the power switch is in OFF or ACC.
2. Turn on the lamps with the switch in the

or “” position again, then the
lamps will remain on.
LED headlamp warning lamp*
This warning lamp will illuminate when there
is a fault in the LED headlamps. Also, “LED
HEADLIGHT SERVICE REQUIRED” is displayed on the information screen in themulti information display for the driver.
NOTEz If the warning lamp illuminates, there may
be a fault on the unit. Have the vehicle
checked at a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Au-
thorized Service Point.Lamp monitor buzzer
If the driver’s door is opened when the opera-
tion mode of the power switch is put in ACCor OFF with the lamps illuminated, a buzzer
will sound to remind the driver to turn off the
lamps.
The buzzer will automatically stop if the au- to-cutoff function is activated, the lamp
switch is turned off, or the door is closed.
Daytime running lamps
The daytime running lamps come on when
the operation mode is ON and the lamp switch is in the “OFF” or “AUTO” position
and the tail lamps are off.
NOTEz If the lamp switch is in the “ ” or “

position, or if the tail lamps are on when the
lamp switch is in the “AUTO” position, the daytime running lamps come on as positionlamps.

Dipper (High/Low beamchange)
When the lamp switch is in the “” posi-
tion, the beam changes from high to low (or
low to high) each time the lever is pulled
fully (1). While the high-beam is on, the
high-beam indication lamp in the instrument
cluster will also illuminate.
Headlamp flasher
The high-beams flash when the lever is
pulled slightly (2), and will go off when it is released.
When the high-beam is on, the high-beam in- dication lamp in the instrument cluster will il-
luminate.
NOTEz The high-beams can also flash when the
lamp switch is OFF.
z If you turn the lamps off with the headlamps
set to high-beam, the headlamps are auto- matically returned to their low-beam setting
when the lamp switch is next turned to the

” position.
Automatic High-Beam*
The Automatic High-Beam (AHB) switches
the headlamp beams (high/low) when the
sensor (A) senses a illuminant such as lights
of a vehicle in front or oncoming vehicle or a street lamp.
:ARN,NGz The headlamp beams (high/low) may not
be switched automatically under certain
circumstances. Do not overestimate the system. It is the responsibility of the driv-er to switch the headlamp beams (high/
low) manually to suit each driving condi- tion.
Refer to “Dipper (High/Low beam
change)” on page 6-61.How to use the AHB
1. Rotate the lamp switch to the “” posi-
tion or “AUTO” position when the Plug-
in Hybrid EV System is operating.
2. Press the AHB switch.
The AHB is activated and the indicator
will illuminate.

If the AHB switch is pressed again, the
AHB will be deactivated and the AHB
indicator will go off.NOTEz If the headlamps are on when the lamp
switch is in the “AUTO” position, the AHB
works.
z You can switch the headlamp beams (high/
low) manually by operating the lever even if
the AHB is working.
Refer to “Dipper (High/Low beam change)”
on page 6-61
If the lever is operated manually, the AHB indicator will go off and the AHB will be de-
activated.
Refer to “Manual switching” on page 6-61.
z The AHB is not deactivated when you pull
the lever slightly (operation of the headlamp flasher).Manual switching
Switching to low beam
1. Pull the lever towards you.
2. The AHB indicator will go off.
3. The AHB switch is pressed again, the
AHB will activated.
Switching to high-beam 1. Pull the lever towards you.
2. The AHB indicator will go off and the
high-beam indicator illuminates.
3. The AHB switch is pressed again, the
AHB will activated.
Automatic switching conditions
The high-beam headlamps illuminate when
all of the following conditions are met:
z Your vehicle speed exceeds approxi-
mately 40 km/h (25 mph).
z It is dark ahead of your vehicle.
z There are no vehicles in front or oncom-
ing vehicles, or none of their exterior
lamps are illuminated.
The low beam headlamps illuminate when any of the following conditions occur:
z Your vehicle speed does not exceed ap-
proximately 30 km/h (19 mph).
z It is bright ahead of your vehicle.
z An exterior lamp of a vehicle in front or
oncoming vehicle is illuminating.
NOTEz The headlamps may not be switched from
high-beam to low beam under the following circumstances.

NOTEzThe AHB recognises environmental condi-
tions by sensing a light source ahead of your
vehicle. Therefore, you may feel like some- thing is not quite right when the headlamp
beams are switched automatically.
z The system may not detect a light vehicle
such as a bicycle.
z The system may not detect an ambient
brightness precisely. This causes the trafficto be dazzled by high-beam or the low beam
to be maintained. In such cases, you should switch the headlamp beams manually.

Sensor is too hot or cold
If the system becomes temporarily unavaila-ble due to a high or low temperature of thesensor, the following warning display willappear.
After the temperature of the sensor has been
in range, the system will automatically return
to operation.
If the warning display does not disappear af- ter waiting for a while, there is a possibilitythat the AHB has a malfunction. Contact a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service
Point for inspection of the system.
Windscreen is dirty
If the AHB determines that its performance
has been degraded, the warning display will appear.
This can occur when:
z Foreign objects, such as dirt, snow or
ice, adhere to the windscreen of the sen-
sor portion.
z There are adverse weather conditions,
such as rain, snow, sand storms, etc.
z A vehicle in front or an oncoming vehi-
cle is splashing water, snow or dirt.
When the sensor performance returns, the
AHB will resume operation.
If the warning display does not disappear af- ter waiting for a while, there is a possibilitythat the sensor has a malfunction. Contact a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service
Point for inspection of the sensor.Welcome light
This function turns on the position and tail lamps for about 30 seconds after the UN-
LOCK switch on the remote control transmit-
ter is pressed when the combination head-
lamps and dipper switch is in the “OFF” or
“AUTO” position. The welcome light func- tion will operate only when it is dark outside
the vehicle.
NOTEz While the welcome light function is operat-
ing, perform one of the following operations to cancel the function.

3.Within 60 seconds of putting the opera-
tion mode in OFF, pull the turn signal lever towards you.
4. The headlamps will come on in the low-
beam setting for about 30 seconds. After
the headlamps go off, the headlamps can be turned on again in the low beam set-
ting for about 30 seconds by pulling the turn signal lever towards you within 60
seconds of putting the operation mode in OFF.
To turn on the headlamps again after 60
seconds of putting the operation mode in
OFF, repeat the process from step 1.
NOTEz While the coming home light function is op-
erating, perform one of the following opera-
tions to cancel the function.NOTE

z It is possible to change the tone of a sound-
ing buzzer as the turn-signal lamps flash.

on page 6-21.Hazard warning flasher
switch
Use the hazard warning flasher switch when
the vehicle has to be parked on the road for
any emergency.
The hazard warning flashers can always be operated, regardless of the operation mode.Push the switch to turn on the hazard warning flashers, all turn-signal lamps flash continu-
ously. To turn them off, push the switch
again.
NOTEz If the switch is used for a long period while
the ready indicator is not illuminated, theauxiliary battery could go flat and the Plugin
Hybrid EV System could be impossible to start.
z While the hazard warning lamps are blinking
due to having manually pushed the switch,
the emergency stop signal system does not
operate.
Refer to “Emergency stop signal system” on page 7-38.ECO mode switch
ECO mode is an eco-driving support system
which automatically controls the Plug-in Hy- brid EV System and air conditioning system
to improve fuel efficiency.
When the ECO mode is active, your vehicle will slowly accelerate even when you press the accelerator pedal.
Refer to “Automatic climate control air con-
ditioner” on page 8-06.
The ECO mode starts working by pressing the ECO mode switch when the operationmode of the power switch is in ON. Push the
switch again and the ECO mode will cancel.
While the ECO mode is working, an ECO
mode indicator will be turned on.NOTEz Even if the ECO mode is selected, after put-
ting the operation mode of the power switchin OFF and then in ON again, the ECO
mode is set to OFF.
z Even if the ECO mode is operating, you can
select normal operation of the air condition-
er.

system, it is possible to change the setting by means of screen operations.

Fog lamp switchFront fog lamp switch
The front fog lamps can be operated while
the headlamps or tail lamps are on. Turn the knob in the “ON” direction to turn on the
front fog lamps. An indication lamp in the in- strument cluster will also come on. Turn the knob in the “OFF” direction to turn off the
front fog lamps. The knob will automatically return to its original position when you re-
lease it.
NOTEz The front fog lamps are automatically turned
off when the headlamps or tail lamps are turned off. To turn the front fog lamps on again, turn the knob in the “ON” directionafter turning on the headlamps or tail lamps.NOTEz Do not use fog lamps except in conditions of
fog, otherwise excessive lamp glare maytemporarily blind oncoming vehicle drivers.Rear fog lamp switch
The rear fog lamp can be operated when the
headlamps or front fog lamps turn on.
An indication lamp in the instrument cluster comes on when the rear fog lamp is turned
on.

Turn the knob once in the “ON” direction to turn on the front fog lamps. Turn the knob once more in the “ON” direction to turn on
the rear fog lamp. To turn the rear fog lamp off, turn the knob once in the “OFF” direc- tion. Turn the knob once more in the “OFF”
direction to turn off the front fog lamps. The
knob will automatically return to its original
position when you release it.
NOTEz The rear fog lamp is automatically turned off
when the headlamps or front fog lamps are turned off.
z To turn the rear fog lamp on again, turn the
knob twice in the “ON” direction after turn- ing on the headlamps.Wiper and washer switchCAUT,ONz If the washer is used in cold weather, the
washer fluid sprayed against the glass may
freeze, which may hinder visibility. Warm
the glass with the defroster or rear window demister before using the washer.Windscreen wipersNOTEz To ensure a clear rearward view, the rear
window wiper will automatically perform
several continuous operations if the selector lever is put in the “R” position while the windscreen wipers are operating.
Refer to “Rear window wiper and washer” on page 6-71.
The windscreen wipers can be operated with
the operation mode of the power switch in ON or ACC.
