To prevent the floor mats from slipping out of position, securely retain them using the hook etc.
Note that laying a floor mat over a pedal
or laying one floor mat on top of another can obstruct pedal operation and lead to a
serious accident.Carrying children in the vehi-
cle
z Never leave your vehicle unattended
with the key and children inside the ve-hicle. Children may play with the driv-
ing controls and this could lead to an ac- cident.
z Make sure that infants and small chil-
dren are properly restrained in accord-
ance with the laws and regulations, and
for maximum protection in case of an accident.
z Prevent children from playing in the lug-
gage compartment. It is quite dangerous
to allow them to play there while the ve- hicle is moving.
Loading luggage
When loading luggage, be careful not to load above the height of seats. This is dangerous
not only because rearward vision will be ob- structed, but also the luggage may be projec-ted into the passenger compartment underhard braking.
Parking brake
To park the vehicle, first bring it to a com- plete stop, fully apply the parking brake suffi-
ciently to hold the vehicle.
Make sure the brake warning lamp is illumi-

The Electric parking brake is the system that
applies the parking brake by the electric mo- tor.
NOTEz You may hear an operation noise from the
vehicle body when operating the Electric
parking brake. This does not indicate a mal-
function and the Electric parking brake is operating normally.
z When the auxiliary battery is weak or dead,
the Electric parking brake cannot be applied
or released. Refer to “Emergency starting” on page 9-02.
z You may feel the brake pedal moving when

ing brake warning lamp remains illuminated,
the Electric parking brake system may be
malfunctioning and the Electric parking brake may not be applied or released. Imme- diately park your vehicle in a safe place and
contact the nearest MITSUBISHI MOTORS
Authorized Service Point.
z If a vehicle is driven without releasing the
Electric parking brake, the brake will over-
heat, resulting in ineffective braking and
possible brake failure.
z If the brake warning lamp does not go off af-
ter the parking brake has been released, the brake system may be malfunctioning.
Contact the nearest MITSUBISHI MOTORS
Authorized Service Point.CAUT,ONz If the acceleration of the vehicle seems ab-
normally slow after the vehicle has been parked with the Electric parking brake ap-
plied in cold weather, stop the vehicle in a
safe place, then apply and release the Elec- tric parking brake. If the vehicle acceleration is still slow, contact the nearest
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Serv-

mirrors without using the mir- ror retractor switch
The mirrors automatically retract or extend
when the doors and tailgate are locked or un- locked using the keyless entry system or the

System is not operating may cause the auxil- iary battery to discharge, making it impossi-
ble to start the Plug-in Hybrid EV System.
z When the auxiliary battery is disconnected,
the current operation mode is memorized. After reconnecting the auxiliary battery, thememorized mode is selected automatically.
Before disconnecting the auxiliary battery
for repair or replacement, make sure to put the operation mode in OFF.
Be careful if you are not sure which opera-

z The operation mode cannot be changed from
OFF to ACC or ON if the keyless operation key is not detected to be in the vehicle. Refer
to “Keyless operation system: Operating
range for starting the Plug-in Hybrid EV System and changing the operation mode”on page 4-09.
