Headlamp leveling does not occur when the headlamp
leveling switch is operated.
Probable cause
The cause is probably a malfunction of the headlamp leveling switch circuit system
or a malfunction of the headlamp leveling unit circuit system.
If there is a blown fuse, there may also be a short-circuit in a harness.Malfunction of fuse

headlamp leveling switch and body

lamp leveling relay. Repair, if necessary.

Check trouble symptoms.NGCheck the harness wire between the
headlamp leveling switch and the head-
lamp leveling unit (both). Repair, if nec-
essary.

headlamp leveling unit and body earth.
Repair, if necessary.
Check the following connectors:
A-18, A-35NG
Repair
Disconnect the headlamp leveling unit
(LH), headlamp leveling unit (RH) and
headlamp leveling switch connectors
A-18, A-35, C-32 and measure at the
harness side.
Continuity between terminal No. 3
of the headlamp leveling unit (both)
and terminal No. 4 of the headlamp
leveling switch.
OK:ContinuityNGCheck the following connectors:
A-18, A-35, C-32NG

Disconnect the headlamp leveling unit
connectors A-18, A-35 and measure at
the harness side. Both the left and right
connectors of the headlamp leveling unit
should be checked.
1. Voltage between terminal No.1 and
earth
OK:System voltage
2. Continuity between terminal No.2
and earth

Disconnect the headlamp leveling
switch connector C-32 and measure at
the harness side.

The headlamps do not illuminate when the vehicle is in the
following condition and the ignition switch is moved to the
ON position. However, they illuminate when the lighting
switch is moved to the HEAD position.
<Vehicles with daytime running lamp>
Lighting switch: OFF
Passing switch: OFF
Probable cause
The cause is probably a malfunction of the daytime running lamp control unit (DRL-ECU)
circuit system. If there is a blown fuse, there may also be a short-circuit in a harness.Malfunction of fuse

Disconnect the DRL relay (1) connector
A-12 and measure at the harness side.

2. Voltage between terminal No.3 and
earth
OK:System voltage when the
lighting switch is at HEAD and
0 V when it is at OFF.
3. Continuity between terminal No.1
and earth
OK:Continuity1. NGCheck the following connectors:
A-12, A-16, C-81, C-88NG
Repair

Check trouble symptoms.NGCheck the harness wire between the
DRL relay (1) and the ignition switch.
Repair, if necessary.
2. NGCheck the following connectors:
A-12, A-16, A-20, A-34NG

DRL relay (1) and the headlamp. Repair,
if necessary.

The headlamps do not switch off when the vehicle is in the
following condition and the lighting switch is moved to the
TAIL position.
<Vehicles with daytime running lamp>
