STRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)
GUID-172322 07-DAB5-4C4 9-986F-9CACB2FAA6F8
This Supplemental RestraintSystem(SRS)section
contains important information concerning thedriver's
and passenger's supplemental front-impactairbags,
supplemental side-impactairbags, supplemental
curtain side-impact airbags andpre-tensioner seat
belts.
Supplemental front-impactairbag system
GUID-5ED 4D143-8D8 A-4A77-BB38-6650BD18322C
This system canhelp cushion theimpact forcetothe
head andchest areaofthe driver and/or front
passenger incertain frontalcollisions. Thesupple-
mental front-impact airbag isdesigned toinflate onthe
front where thevehicle isimpacted.
Supplemental side-impactairbag system (if
equipped)
GUID-931BD BE2-9985-41F3-A607-F6 7C072B2A98
This system canhelp cushion theimpact forcetothe
chest andpelvis areasofthe driver andfront
passenger incertain side-impact collisions.The
supplemental side-impactairbag isdesigned toinflate
on the side where thevehicle isimpacted.
Supplemental curtainside-impact airbag
system (ifequipped)
GUID-A A4E0875-0C6 9-409F-AE9A-D2E13197 266A
This system canhelp cushion theimpact forcetothe
head ofthe driver andpassengers infront andrear
outboard seatingpositions incertain side-impact
collisions. Thesupplemental curtainside-impact air
bag isdesigned toinflate onthe side where thevehicle
is impacted.
The SRS isdesigned tosupplement theaccident
protection providedbythe driver's andpassenger's
seat belts andisnot designed tosubstitute forthem.
The SRS canhelp save livesandreduce serious
injuries. However, inflatingairbags maycause abra- sions
orother injuries. Airbags donot provide
protection tothe lower body.Seat belts should always
be correctly wornandtheoccupants shouldalways be
seated asuitable distance awayfromthesteering
wheel andinstrument panel.(SeeªSeat beltsº (P.1-7) .)
The airbags inflate quickly inorder tohelp protect the
occupants. Theforce ofthe airbags inflating can
increase therisk ofinjury ifthe occupants aretoo close
to, orare against, theairbag modules duringinflation.
The airbags willdeflate quickly afterdeployment.
The SRS operates onlywhen theignition switch
is in the ªONº position.
When theignition switchisin the ªONº position,
the SRS airbag warning lightilluminates for
about 7seconds andthen turns off.This
indicates thattheSRS airbag system isopera-
tional. (SeeªSRS airbag warning lightº(P.1-21) .)
