each seatback andpush itto the upright position until
it is latched.
CAUTION:
When folding orreturning theseatback(s) tothe
upright position, makesurethattheseat path is
clear before moving theseat toavoid injury to
yourself andothers.
WARNING:
. Never allowanyone toride inthe luggage
area oron the rear seats when theyarein
the fold-down position.Useofthese areas
by passengers withoutproperrestraints
could result inserious injuryinan accident

. Do not fold down therear seats when
occupants areinthe rear seat area orany
luggage ison the rear seats.
. Properly secureallluggage tohelp prevent it
from sliding orshifting. Donot place lug-
gage higher thantheseatbacks.
. When returning theseatbacks tothe upright
position, becertain theyarecompletely
secured inthe latched position. Ifthey are
not completely secured,passengers maybe
injured inan accident orsudden stop.
. Head restraints shouldbeadjusted properly
as they mayprovide significant protection
against whiplash injury.Always replace and
adjust themproperly ifthey have been
removed forany reason.

Fastening seatbelts

WARNING:
The seatback shouldnotbeinareclined
position anymore thanneeded forcomfort. Seat
belts aremost effective whenthepassenger sits
well back andstraight upinthe seat.
1. Adjust theseat. (SeeªSeatsº (P.1-2) .)
2. Slowly pulltheseat beltoutofthe retractor and
insert thetongue intothebuckle untilyouhear and
feel thelatch engage.

The retractor isdesigned tolock during a
sudden stoporon impact. Aslow pulling
motion permits theseat belttomove, and
allows yousome freedom ofmovement in
the seat.

If the seat beltcannot bepulled fromits
fully retracted position,firmlypullthebelt
and release it.Then smoothly pullthebelt
out ofthe
retractor.

Pulltheshoulder beltportion towardtheretractor
to take upextra slack. Besure theshoulder beltis
routed overyour shoulder andissnug across your
chest.

WARNING:
. The shoulder beltanchor heightshould be
adjusted tothe position bestforyou. Failure
to do somay reduce theeffectiveness ofthe
entire restraint systemandincrease the
chance orseverity ofinjury inan accident.
. The shoulder beltshould restonthe middle
of the shoulder. Itmust notrest against the
neck.
. Besure thattheseat beltisnot twisted in
any way.
. Be sure thattheshoulder beltanchor is
secured bytrying tomove theshoulder belt
anchor upand down afteradjustment.
The shoulder beltanchor heightshould beadjusted to
the position bestforyou.
The belt should beaway fromyourfaceandneck, but not
falling offyour shoulder.

Release thebutton tolock theshoulder beltanchor
into position.
Unfastening seatbelts
