Whenever possible,parkyourvehicle insideagarage
or inacovered areatominimize thechances of
damaging thepaint surface ofyour vehicle.
When itis necessary topark outside, parkinashady
area orprotect thevehicle withabody cover. Be
careful nottoscratch thepaint surface when
putting onorremoving thebody cover.
W ASHING

In the following instances, washyourvehicle assoon
as possible toprotect thepaint surface:
. After arainfall, whichmaycause thepaint surface
damage fromacidrain.
. After driving oncoastal roads,whichmaycause
rusting fromthesea breeze.
. When contaminants suchassoot, birddroppings,
tree sap, metal particles orbugs getonthe paint
surface.
. When dustormud builds uponthe paint surface.
1. Wash thevehicle surface withawet sponge and
plenty ofwater.
2. Clean thevehicle surface gentlyandthoroughly
using amild soap, aspecial vehiclesoapora
general purpose dishwashing liquidmixed with
clean, lukewarm (neverhot)water.
CAUTION:
. Donot wash thevehicle withstrong house-
hold soap, strong chemical detergents, ga-
soline orsolvents.
. Donot wash thevehicle indirect sunlight or
while thevehicle bodyishot, asthe paint
surface maybecome water-spotted. .
Avoid usingtight-napped orrough cloths,
such aswashing mitts.Caremust betaken
when removing caked-ondirtorother for-
eign substances sothe paint surface isnot
scratched ordamaged.
3. Rinse thevehicle thoroughly withplenty ofclean
water.
4. Use adampened chamoistodry the paint surface
and avoid leaving waterspots.
When washing thevehicle, takecare ofthe following:
. Inside flanges, jointsandfolds onthe doors,
hatches andhood areparticularly vulnerabletothe
effects ofroad salt.Therefore, theseareasmust
be cleaned regularly.
. Besure thatthedrain holes inthe lower edgeof
the doors arenot clogged.
. Spray watertothe underbody andinthe wheel
wells toloosen thedirt and/or washawayroad
salt.
REMOVING SPOTS

CAUTION:
. Wash yourvehicle thoroughly andcomple-
tely before applying waxtothe paint surface.
. Always followthemanufacturer's instruc-
tions supplied withthewax.
. Donot use awax containing anyabrasives,
cutting compounds orcleaners thatmay
damage thevehicle finish.
Machine compounding oraggressive polishingona
base coat/clear coatpaint finish maydullthefinish or
leave swirlmarks.
GLASS

Use glass cleaner toremove smokeanddust filmfrom
the glass surfaces. Itis normal forglass tobecome
coated withafilm after thevehicle isparked inthe hot

In areas where roadsaltisused inthe winter, itis
necessary toclean thevehicle's underbody regularlyin
order toprevent dirtand saltfrom building upand
causing theacceleration ofcorrosion onthe under-
body andsuspension.
Before thewinter andagain inthe spring, theunder-
seal must bechecked and,ifnecessary ,re-treated.
WHEELS

. Wash thewheels whenwashing thevehicle to
maintain theirappearance.
. Clean theinner sideofthe wheels whenthewheel
is changed orthe underside ofthe vehicle is
washed.
. Donot use abrasive cleaners whenwashing the
wheels.
. Inspect wheelrimsregularly fordents orcorrosion.
This maycause lossofpressure ordamage the
tire bead.
. NISSAN recommends thattheroad wheels be
waxed toprotect against roadsaltinareas where
it is used during winter.
ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEELS

W ash thewheels regularly withasponge dampened in
a mild soap solution, especially duringwinterinareas
where roadsaltisused. Thesaltresidue fromroad salt
could discolor thewheels ifit is not washed off
regularly .
CAUTION:
Follow thedirections belowtoavoid staining or
discoloring thewheels: .
Donot use acleaner thatuses strong acidor
alkali contents toclean thewheels.
. Donot apply wheel cleaners tothe wheels
when theyarehot. Thewheel temperature
should bethe same asambient temperature.
. Rinse thewheel tocompletely removethe
cleaner within15minutes afterthecleaner is
applied.
CHROME PARTS

Clean allchrome partsregularly withanonabrasive
chrome polishtomaintain thefinish.

plastic partsandseats using avacuum cleanerorsoft
bristled brush.Wipethevinyl andleather surfaces with

Regular careandcleaning isrequired inorder to
maintain theappearance ofthe leather.
Before usinganyfabric protector, readthemanufac-
turer's recommendations. Somefabricprotectors
contain chemicals thatmay stain orbleach theseat
material.
Use asoft cloth dampened onlywith water toclean the
meter andgauge lenscovers.
CAUTION:
. Never usebenzine, thinnerorany similar
material.
. Small dirtparticles canbeabrasive and
damaging toleather surfaces andshould be
removed promptly. Donot use saddle soap,
car waxes, polishes, oils,cleaning fluids,
solvents, detergents orammonia-based
cleaners asthey damage thenatural leather
finish.
. Never usefabric protectors unlessrecom-
mended bythe manufacturer.
. Donot use glass orplastic cleaner onmeter
or gauge lenscovers. Itmay damage the
lens covers.
