1. While supporting thehood, return thesupport rod
to its original position.
2. Slowly lowerthehood toabout 20to30 cm (8to
12 in)above thehood lock,thenletitdrop.
3. Make sureitis securely latched.
CAUTION:
Before closing thehood, besure torelease the
support rodand store itin position. Otherwise,
the support rodwill bedamaged.

WARNING:
. Make suretheback doorhasbeen closed

driving.
. Donot drive withtheback dooropen. This

. Before opening theback door, besure to

stuck tothe back door. Ifthe back dooris
opened whilematerials arestill stuck toit,it
may suddenly closeagain duetothe weight
of these materials.
. Always besure tofully open theback door. If
it is not fully opened, itmay suddenly shut.
. Beespecially carefulwhenopening theback
door instrong wind.Thedoor could be
caught byagust ofwind andmay close
suddenly.

. Follow thetrailer manufacturer's instructions.
. Choose propercoupling devices(trailerhitch,
safety chain,roofcarrier, etc.)foryour vehicle and

information abouttrailertowing.
. Never allowthetotal trailer load(trailer weight plus
its cargo weight) toexceed themaximum setfor
the vehicle andthecoupling device.Seea

. Thetrailer mustbeloaded sothat heavy goods are
placed overtheaxle. Themaximum allowable
vertical loadonthe trailer hitchmust notbe
exceeded. .
Have yourvehicle serviced moreoftenthanatthe
intervals specified inaseparate maintenance
booklet.
. Trailer towing requires morefuelthan under
normal circumstances becauseofaconsiderable
increase intraction powerandresistance.
While towing atrailer, checktheengine coolant
temperature indicatortoprevent thevehicle
from overheating.

SAFETY CHAINS

Always useasuitable chainbetween thevehicle and
trailer. Thechain should becrossed andshould be
attached tothe hitch, nottothe vehicle bumper oraxle.
Be sure toleave enough slackinthe chain topermit
turning corners.
TRAILER BRAKES

Ensure thattrailer brakes areinstalled asrequired by
local regulations. Alsocheck thatallother trailer
equipment conformstolocal regulations.
Always blockthewheels onboth thevehicle andtrailer
when parking. Applythehand brake onthe trailer if
equipped. Parkingonasteep slopeisnot recom-
mended.
If parking onasteep slopeisunavoidable, placethe
shift lever inthe ªPº (Park) position (Continuously
V ariable Transmission model)orthe shift lever inan
appropriate gear(Manual Transmission model),and
turn thefront wheels towards thecurb.
TRAILER DETECTION (ifequipped)

electrical kitand theturn signal switch isused, the
