the three-way catalyst,causingitto over-

or other unusual operating conditions are
detected. Havethevehicle inspected

If the battery ofthe Intelligent Key isdischarged, or
environmental conditionsinterferewiththeIntelligent
K ey operation, starttheengine according tothe
following procedure:
1. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) orªNº
(Neutral) position.
Manual Transmission (MT)model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªNº (Neutral) position.
2. Firmly depress thebrake pedal.
3. Touch theignition switchwiththeIntelligent Key
as illustrated. (Achime willsound.)
4. Push theignition switchwhiledepressing the
brake pedal (Continuously Variable Transmission
models) orclutch pedal(Manual Transmission
models) within10seconds afterthechime
sounds. Theengine willstart.
After step3is performed, whentheignition switchis
pushed withoutdepressing thebrake pedal (Con-
tinuously Variable Transmission models)orclutch pedal
(Manual Transmission models),the ignition
switch position willchange toªACCº .
NO TE:
. When theignition switchispushed tothe
ª ACCº orªONº position orthe engine is
started bythe above procedures, theIntel-
ligent Keysystem warning lightmayblink in
yellow evenifthe Intelligent Keyisinside
the vehicle. Thisisnot amalfunction. To stop
the warning lightfrom blinking, touchthe
ignition switchwiththeIntelligent Key
again.
. Ifthe Intelligent Keysystem warning lightin
the meter isblinking ingreen, replace the
battery assoon aspossible. (SeeªBatteryº
