Always moveslowly.
. Read andunderstand thelimitations ofthe
sonar (parking sensor)systemascontained
in this section. Inclement weathermayaffect
the function ofthe sonar (parking sensor)
system; thismay include reduced perfor-
mance orafalse activation.
. This system isnot designed toprevent
contact withsmall ormoving objects.
. The system isdesigned asan aid tothe
driver indetecting largestationary objectsto
help avoid damaging thevehicle. Thesystem
will notdetect smallobjects belowthe
bumper, andmay notdetect objects close
to the bumper oron the ground.
. Ifyour vehicle sustains damagetothe
bumper fascia,leaving itmisaligned orbent,
the sensing zonemaybealtered causing inaccurate
measurement ofobstacles or
false alarms.
CAUTION:
Keep theinterior ofthe vehicle asquiet as
possible tohear thetone clearly.
When theignition switchisin the ªONº position, the
sonar (parking sensor)systemisoperational.
The sonar (parking sensor)systemsounds atone to
warn thedriver ofobstacles nearthebumper. The
system detects rearobstacles whentheshift lever isin
the ªRº (Reverse) position.Thesystem maynotdetect
objects atspeeds above10km/h (6MPH) andmay
not detect certain angular ormoving objects.
The sonar (parking sensor)systemdetects obstacles
up to1m (3.3 ft)from thebumper withadecreased
coverage areaatthe outer corners ofthe bumper,
(refer tothe illustration forapproximate zonecoverage
areas) .As you move closer tothe obstacle, therate of
the tone increases. Whentheobstacle isless than 30
cm (11.8 in)away ,the tone willsound continuously .
K eep thesonar sensors (located onthe bumper fascia)
free from snow ,ice and large accumulations ofdirt (do not
clean thesensors withsharp objects) .If the
sensors arecovered, itwill affect theaccuracy ofthe
sonar (parking sensor)system.
If the sonar (parking sensor)systemmalfunc-
