Ambient image sensor maintenance
The ambient image sensor
1for the high beam
assist system is located in front of the inside
mirror. To maintain the proper operation of the
high beam assist system and prevent a system
malfunction, be sure to observe the following:
● Always keep the windshield clean.
● Do not attach a sticker (including transpar-
ent material) or install an accessory near the
ambient image sensor.
● Do not strike or damage the areas around
the ambient image sensor. Do not touch the
sensor lens that is located on the ambient
image sensor. If the ambient image sensor is damaged due to an
accident, it is recommended that you visit a
NISSAN dealer.
Battery saver system
The battery saver system automatically turns off
the ignition after a period of time when the igni-
tion switch is left in the ON position.
The battery saver system automatically turns off
the following lights after a period of time when the
ignition switch is placed in the OFF position and
the doors are closed:
● Headlights, when the headlight switch is in
the
orposition
● Interior lights, when left in the ON position
CAUTION
Even though the battery saver feature au-
tomatically turns off the headlights after a
period of time, you should turn the head-
light switch to the OFF position when the
engine is not running to avoid discharging
the vehicle battery.
Automatic headlight aiming control (if
so equipped)
Vehicles with LED headlights may be equipped
with an automatic levelling system. The headlight
axis is controlled automatically.
NISSAN recommends that you should consult
the local regulations on the use of lights.

Manual headlight aiming control (if so
equipped)
Depending on the number of occupants in the
vehicle and the load it is carrying, the headlight
axis may be higher than desired. If the vehicle is
traveling on a hilly road, the headlights may di-
rectly hit the rearview mirror of the vehicle ahead
or the windshield of the oncoming vehicle. The
light axis can be lowered with the operation of the
switch.
The larger the number designated on the switch,
the lower the axis.
When traveling without a heavy load or on a flat
road, select position 0.Select the switch position by referring to the
following sample.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL)
SYSTEM (Type A) (if so equipped)
The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) automatically
illuminate when the engine is started with the
parking brake released. The DRL operate with
the headlight switch in the OFF position or in
the
position. Turn the headlight switch to
the
position for full illumination when driv-
ing at night.
If the parking brake is applied before the engine is
started, the DRL do not illuminate. The DRL illu-
minate when the parking brake is released. The
DRL will remain on until the ignition switch is
placed in the OFF position.
WARNING
When the DRL system is active, tail lights
on your vehicle are not on. It is necessary
at dusk to turn on your headlights. Failure
to do so could cause an accident injuring
yourself and others.
LED DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT
(DRL) SYSTEM (Type B) (if so
equipped)
The LED portion of the headlights automatically
illuminate at 100% intensity when the engine is
started and the parking brake released. The LED
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) operate with the
headlight switch in the OFF position. When you
turn the headlight switch to the
position for
full illumination, the LED lights switch from LED
DRL to the park function.
If the parking brake is applied before the engine is
started, the LED DRL do not illuminate. The LED
DRL illuminate when the parking brake is re-
leased. The LED DRL will remain on until the
ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.
It is necessary at dusk to turn the headlight switch
ON for interior controls and switches to illumi-
nate, as those remain OFF while the switch is in
the OFF position.

– On roads where there are sharpcurves.
– On roads where there are sharply contrasting objects, such as shad-
ows, snow, water, wheel ruts, seams
or lines remaining after road repairs.
(The LDW system could detect these
items as lane markers.)
– On roads where the traveling lane merges or separates.
– When the vehicle’s traveling direc- tion does not align with the lane
marker.
– When traveling close to the vehicle in front of you, which obstructs the lane
camera unit detection range.
– When rain, snow, dirt or object ad- heres to the windshield in front of the
lane camera unit.
– When the headlights are not bright due to dirt on the lens or if the aiming
is not adjusted properly.
– When strong light enters the lane camera unit. (For example, the light
directly shines on the front of the
vehicle at sunrise or sunset.) – When a sudden change in brightness
occurs. (For example, when the ve-
hicle enters or exits a tunnel or under
a bridge.)
SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
If the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight under
high temperature conditions (over approximately
104°F (40°C)) and then started, the LDW system
may be deactivated automatically, the warning
systems ON indicator on the switch will flash and
the following message will appear in the vehicle
information display. - “Unavailable High Cabin
Temp.”
When the interior temperature is reduced, the
LDW system will resume operating automatically
and the warning systems ON indicator will stop
flashing.
The LDW system is not designed to warn under
the following conditions:
● When you operate the lane change signal
and change traveling lanes in the direction of
the signal. (The LDW system will become
operable again approximately 2 seconds af-
ter the lane change signal is turned off.)
● When the vehicle speed lowers to less than
approximately 37 mph (60 km/h). After the above conditions have finished and the
necessary operating conditions are satisfied, the
LDW functions will resume.
SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
If the LDW system malfunctions, it will cancel
automatically and “Malfunction: See Owner’s
Manual” will appear in the vehicle information
display. If “Malfunction: See Owner’s Manual”
appears in the vehicle information display, pull off
the road to a safe location and stop the vehicle.
Place shift lever in the P (Park) position and the
ignition switch to the OFF position and restart the
engine/motor. If “Malfunction: See Owner’s
Manual” continues to appear in the vehicle infor-
mation display, have the system checked. It is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.

– On roads where there are multipleparallel lane markers; lane markers
that are faded or not painted clearly;
yellow painted lane markers; non-
standard lane markers; or lane mark-
ers covered with water, dirt, snow,
etc.
– On roads where discontinued lane markers are still detectable.
– On roads where there are sharp curves.
– On roads where there are sharply contrasting objects, such as shad-
ows, snow, water, wheel ruts, seams
or lines remaining after road repairs.
(The LDP system could detect these
items as lane markers.)
– On roads where the traveling lane merges or separates.
– When the vehicle’s traveling direc- tion does not align with the lane

the windshield in front of the lane
camera unit.
– When the headlights are not bright due to dirt on the lens or if the aiming

– When strong light enters the lane camera unit. (For example, the light
directly shines on the front of the
vehicle at sunrise or sunset.)
– When a sudden change in brightness occurs. (For example, when the ve-
hicle enters or exits a tunnel or under
a bridge.)
● Excessive noise will interfere with the
warning chime sound, and the chime
may not be heard.
While the LDP system is operating, you may hear
a sound of brake operation. This is normal and
indicates that the LDP system is operating prop-
erly.SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Condition A:
The warning and assist functions of the LDP
system are not designed to work under the fol-
lowing conditions: ● When you operate the lane change signal
and change the traveling lanes in the direc-
tion of the signal. (The LDP system will be
deactivated for approximately 2 seconds af-
ter the lane change signal is turned off.)
● When the vehicle speed lowers to less than
approximately 37 mph (60 km/h).
After the above conditions have finished and the
necessary operating conditions are satisfied, the
warning and assist functions will resume.
Condition B:
The assist function of the LDP system is not
designed to work under the following conditions
(warning is still functional): ● When the brake pedal is depressed.
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary for the vehicle to change lanes.
● When the vehicle is accelerated during LDP
system operation.

HEADLIGHTS
For additional information on headlight bulb re-
placement, refer to the instructions outlined in
this section.
Replacing the halogen headlight bulb
(if so equipped)
The headlight is a semi-sealed beam type which
uses a replaceable headlight (halogen) bulb.
They can be replaced from inside the engine
compartment without removing the headlight as-
sembly.
If headlight bulb replacement is required, it is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
CAUTION
●Aiming is not necessary after replacing
the bulb. When aiming adjustment is
necessary, it is recommended that you
visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
● Do not leave the headlight assembly
open without a bulb installed for a long
period of time. Dust, moisture, smoke,
etc. entering the headlight body may
affect bulb performance. Remove the
bulb from the headlight assembly just
before a replacement bulb is installed. ●
Only touch the base when handling the
bulb. Never touch the glass envelope.
Touching the glass could significantly
affect bulb life and/or headlight
performance.
● High pressure halogen gas is sealed
inside the halogen bulb. The bulb may
break if the glass envelope is scratched
or the bulb is dropped.
● Use the same number and wattage as
shown in the chart.
Fog may temporarily form inside the lens of the
exterior lights in the rain or in a car wash. A
temperature difference between the inside and
the outside of the lens causes the fog. This is not
a malfunction. If large drops of water collect
inside the lens, it is recommended that you visit a
NISSAN dealer for servicing.
Replacing the LED headlight bulb (if
so equipped)
If LED headlight bulb replacement is required, it is
recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
FOG LIGHTS (if so equipped)
For additional information on fog light bulb re-
placement, refer to the instructions outlined in
this section.
Replacing the fog light bulb
If bulb replacement is required, it is recom-
mended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this
service.
CAUTION
● High pressure halogen gas is sealed
inside the halogen bulb. The bulb may
break if the glass envelope is scratched
or the bulb is dropped.
● When handling the bulb, do not touch
the glass envelope.
● Use the same number and wattage as
originally installed as shown in the
chart.
● Do not leave the bulb out of the fog light
for a long period of time as dust, mois-
ture and smoke may enter the fog light
body and affect the performance of the
fog light.
