INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CONNECTOR
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
3. Disconnect the ECM harness connector and the harness connector M55.
4. Check continuity between the data link connector and the harness connector.
OK or NG
OK >>Present error: Check the following items again.
–Decision of CAN system type.
–Not received CONSULT-II data (SELECT SYSTEM, SELF-DIAG RESULTS, CAN DIAG SUP-
PORT MNTR).
–Procedure for detecting root cause.
Past error: Error was detected in the main line between the data link connector and the TCM.
NG >> Repair the main line between the data link connector and the harness connector M55.
Main Line Between TCM and ABS Actuator and Electric Unit (Control Unit)BKS002E5
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CONNECTOR
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
3. Check the following terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection (connector side
and harness side).
–Harness connector M53
–Harness connector E103
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 2.
NG >> Repair the terminal and connector.
2. CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)
1. Disconnect the following harness connectors.
–Harness connectors M55 and F102
–Harness connectors M53 and E103
2. Check the continuity between harness connectors.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Repair the main line between the harness connector M55 and M53.

1. Disconnect the harness connectors E253 and E11.
2. Check the continuity between harness connectors.
OK or NG
OK >>Present error: Check the following items again.
–Decision of CAN system type.

NG >> Repair the ECM branch line.

3. CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the TCM. Refer to AT- 4 2 , "
Circuit Diagram" .
OK or NG
OK >>Present error: Replace the TCM. Refer to AT- 4 1 , "A/T Electrical Parts Location" .
Past error: Error was detected in the TCM branch line.
NG >> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.
TCM Branch Line Circuit (Models with CVT)BKS002EH
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CONNECTOR
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.
3. Check the following terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection (unit side and con-
nector side).

–Harness connector F102
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 2.
NG >> Repair the terminal and connector.
2. CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect the connector of TCM.
2. Check the resistance between the TCM harness connector terminals.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Repair the TCM branch line.
3. CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the TCM. Refer to CVT-31, "
Circuit Diagram" .
OK or NG
OK >>Present error: Replace the TCM. Refer to CVT-30, "CVT Electrical Parts Location" .
Past error: Error was detected in the TCM branch line.
NG >> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

2. CHECK HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
1. Disconnect the connector of ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
2. Check the resistance between the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector termi-
nals.

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Repair the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) branch line.
3. CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check the power supply and the ground circuit of the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to
BRC-12, "
Schematic" (Models with ABS), BRC-48, "Schematic" (Models with VDC).
OK or NG
OK >>Present error: Replace the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to BRC-35,
"Removal and Installation" (Models with ABS), BRC-88, "Removal and Installation" (Models
with VDC).
Past error: Error was detected in the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) branch line.
NG >> Repair the power supply and the ground circuit.

REMOVAL
1. Remove splash guard (RH).
2. Using oil filter wrench (SST), remove oil filter.
CAUTION:
Oil filter is provided with relief valve. Use Genuine Nissan
Oil Filter or equivalent.
Be careful not to get burned when engine and engine oil
may be hot.
When removing, prepare a shop cloth to absorb any
engine oil leakage or spillage.
Do not allow engine oil to adhere to drive belt.
Completely wipe off any engine oil that adheres to engine
and vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove foreign materials adhering to the oil filter installation surface.
2. Apply new engine oil to the oil seal contact surface of new oil fil-
ter.
3. Screw oil filter manually until it touches the installation surface,
then tighten it by 2/3 turn. Or tighten to specification.
INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION
1. Check the engine oil level. Refer to LU-7, "ENGINE OIL" .
2. Start engine, and make sure there is no leaks of engine oil.
3. Stop engine and wait for 10 minutes.
4. Check the engine oil level and adjust engine oil. Refer to LU-7, "
ENGINE OIL" .

REMOVAL

REMOVAL
1. Remove ignition coil. Refer to EM-31, "IGNITION COIL" .
2. Remove spark plug with spark plug wrench (commercial service
tool).
CAUTION:
Do not drop or shock it.
