TLE POSITION SIGNAL
6. CHECK 3RD POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine)
2. Select “TCM INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for
“A/T” with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out “OVERDRIVE SW” switch moving selector lever to
each position.
Without CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Check voltage between A/T device harness connector terminal
and ground. Refer to AT- 1 6 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — NON-
DTC" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> GO TO 7.
7. CHECK 3RD POSITION SWITCH
Check 3rd position switch. Refer to AT- 1 6 6 , "
3RD POSITION SWITCH" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 8.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
8. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between A/T device and ground.
Harness for short or open between unified meter and A/C amp and A/T device.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.

9. CHECK CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION AND WIDE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “TCM INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for A/T with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out “CLOSED THL/SW” and “W/O THRL/P-SW” depressing and releasing accelerator pedal.
Check the signal of throttle position signal is indicated properly.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 10.
NG >> Check the following items. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.
Accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to EC-272, "DTC P2138 APP SENSOR" (QR engine)
or EC-652, "
DTC P2138 APP SENSOR" (VQ engine).
10. CHECK DTC
Without CONSULT-II
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 7 6 , "
Diagnostic Procedure Without CONSULT-II" .
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 11.
11 . CHECK TCM
1. Check TCM input/output signals. Refer to AT- 6 4 , "
TCM Terminals and Reference Value" .
2. If NG, re-check TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.

Check continuity between A/T device harness connector termi-
nals.
PNP SWITCH
1. Check continuity between PNP switch harness connector termi-
nals.
2. If NG, check again with control cable disconnected from manual
shaft of A/T assembly. Refer to step 1.
3. If OK on step 2, adjust control cable. Refer to AT- 2 1 5 , "
Adjust-
ment of A/T Position" .
4. If NG on step 2, remove PNP switch from A/T assembly and
check continuity of PNP switch terminals. Refer to step 1.
5. If OK on step 4, adjust PNP switch. Refer to AT- 2 3 1 , "

6. If NG on step 4, replace PNP switch. Refer to AT- 2 3 0 , "

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION LINE
Perform the self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 6 9 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" , AT- 7 6 , "Diagnostic Proce-
dure Without CONSULT-II" .
Is a malfunction in the CAN communication indicated in the results?
YES >> Check CAN communication line. Refer toAT- 1 3 3 , "CAN COMMUNICATION LINE" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “TCM INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for
“A/T” with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out ON/OFF switching action of the “BRAKE SW”.
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 3.
3. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH
Check continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector termi-
nals. Refer to AT- 1 6 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — NONDTC" .
Check stop lamp switch after adjusting brake pedal — refer to
BR-6, "
BRAKE PEDAL" .
OK or NG
OK >> Check the following. If NG, repair or replace damaged
parts.
Harness for short or open between battery and stop lamp switch.
Harness for short or open between stop lamp switch and unified meter and A/C amp.
10A fuse (No.20, located in fuse block).
NG >> Repair or replace the stop lamp switch.

A/T CHECK Indicator Lamp Does Not Come OnBCS00149
SYMPTOM:
A/T CHECK indicator lamp does not come on for about 2 seconds when turning ignition switch ON.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION LINE
Perform the self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 6 9 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" .
Is a malfunction in CAN communication indicated in the results?
YES >> Check CAN communication line. Refer to AT- 1 3 3 , "CAN COMMUNICATION LINE" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK TCM POWER SOURCE
1. Turn ignition switch ON. (Do not start engine.)
2. Check voltage between TCM connector terminals and ground.
Refer to AT- 1 5 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — MAIN" .
3. Turn ignition switch OFF.
4. Check voltage between TCM connector terminals and ground.
Refer to AT- 1 5 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT — MAIN" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> GO TO 3.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check continuity between TCM connector terminals and ground.
Refer to AT- 1 5 8 , "

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power
in harness or connectors.
5. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness and fuse for short or open between ignition switch and A/T CHECK indicator lamp
Refer to PG-3, "
POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT" .
Harness for short or open between A/T CHECK indicator lamp and TCM
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
6. SYMPTOM CHECK
Check again. Refer to AT- 4 8 , "
Check Before Engine Is Started" .
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 7.
7. CHECK TCM
1. Check TCM input/output. Refer to AT- 6 4 , "
TCM Terminals and Reference Value" .
2. If NG, recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Engine Cannot Be Started in “P” and “N” PositionBCS0014A
SYMPTOM:
Engine cannot be started with selector lever in “P” or “N” position.
Engine can be started with selector lever in “D”, “3”, “2”, “1” or “R” position.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH
Check for short or open of park/neutral position (PNP) switch har-
ness connector terminals. Refer to AT- 1 6 8 , "
Wiring Diagram — AT
— NONDTC" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT
Check PNP switch again with control cable disconnected from manual shaft of A/T assembly. Refer to test
group 1.
OK or NG
OK >> Adjust control cable. Refer to AT- 2 1 5 , "Adjustment of A/T Position" .
NG >> 1. Check PNP switch (Refer to test group 1.) again after adjusting PNP switch (Refer to AT- 2 3 1
Refer to AT- 2 3 0 ).
–If OK, INSPECTION END
–If NG, repair or replace PNP switch. Refer to AT- 2 3 0 , "Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch" .
3. CHECK STARTING SYSTEM
Check starting system. Refer to SC-14, "
STARTING SYSTEM" .
OK or NG

Large shock when shifting from “N” to “R” position.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS (ECM)
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to EC-82, "
SELF-DIAG RESULTS MODE" (QR engine) or EC-427, "SELF-
DIAG RESULTS MODE" (VQ engine).
Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnostic results?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to EC-82, "SELF-DIAG RESULTS MODE" (QR engine)
or EC-427, "
SELF-DIAG RESULTS MODE" (VQ engine).
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS (TCM)
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 6 9 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT- 7 6 , "Diagnostic Proce-
dure Without CONSULT-II" .
Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnostic results?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning systems. Refer to AT- 6 9 , "SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" or AT-
77, "Judgement of Self-Diagnosis Code" .
NO >> GO TO 3.

3. CHECK LINE PRESSURE
Check line pressure at idle with selector lever in “D” position. Refer
to AT- 4 6 , "

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> GO TO 4.
4. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
1. Remove control valve assembly. Refer to AT- 2 2 5 , "
Control Valve Assembly and Accumulators" .
2. Check the following items:
–Valves to control line pressure (Pressure regulator valve, pressure modifier valve, pilot valve and pilot fil-
ter)
–Line pressure solenoid valve
3. Disassemble A/T. Refer to AT- 2 5 5 , "
Disassembly" .
4. Check the following item:
–Oil pump assembly. Refer to AT- 2 7 5 , "Oil Pump" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
5. SYMPTOM CHECK
Check again. Refer to AT- 4 8 , "
Check at Idle" .
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 6.
6. CHECK TCM
1. Check TCM input/output signals. Refer to AT- 6 4 , "
