Since theIntelligent Key iscontinuously receivingradio
waves, ifthe key isleft near equipment whichtransmits
strong radiowaves, suchassignals fromaTV and
personal computer, thebattery lifemay become
shorter.
Because thesteering wheelislocked electrically (if
equipped) ,unlocking thesteering wheelwiththe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position isimpossible
when thevehicle batteryiscompletely discharged. Pay
special attention thatthevehicle batteryisnot
completely discharged.
As many as4Intelligent Keys can beused withone
vehicle. Forinformation aboutthepurchase anduseof
additional IntelligentKeys, contact aNISSAN dealer.
CAUTION:
. Do not allow theIntelligent Key,which
contains electrical components, tocome
into contact withwater orsalt water. This
could affect thesystem function.
. Donot drop theIntelligent Key.

against another object.

The security indicator lightblinks rapidly for
approximately 20seconds andthen blinks slowly.
The system isnow activated. If,during this20-
second timeperiod, thedoor isunlocked bythe
remote controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request
switch, orthe ignition switchisplaced inthe ªONº
position, thesystem willnot activate.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors locked andtheignition switchoff.Place
the ignition switchinthe ªONº position toturn
the system off.
If the system malfunctions, theshort beep
sounds 5times whenthesystem isactivated.
Have thesystem checked byaNISSAN dealer.
Theft warning systemoperation:

The security indicator lightstays onfor about 30
seconds. Thevehicle security systemisnow pre-
armed. Afterabout 30seconds thevehicle
security systemautomatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash once
every approximately 3seconds. If,during this30
seconds pre-armtimeperiod, thedoor isun-
locked, orthe ignition switchisplaced inªONº ,
the system willnot alarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors, hood,andback doorlocked withthe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position. When
placing theignition switchinthe ªONº position,
the system willbereleased.
Theft warning systemoperation:

. Unlocking thedoor oropening theback door
without usingthebutton onthe remote controller
or the Intelligent Key ,the door handle request

opened byreleasing thedoor inside lockknob, the
alarm willactivate.)

NISSAN ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (NATS)

The NISSAN Anti-Theft System (NATS) willnotallow
the engine tostart without theuse ofthe registered
NA TS key.
If the engine doesnotstart using theregistered NATS
key ,it may bedue tointerference causedby:
. Another NATS key.
. Automated tollroad device.
. Automated paymentdevice.
. Other devices thattransmit similarsignals.
Start theengine usingthefollowing procedure:
1. Remove anyitems thatmay becausing the
interference awayfromtheNATS key.
2. Leave theignition switchinthe ªONº position for
approximately 5seconds.
3. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº orªLOCKº
position, andwait approximately 10seconds.
4. Repeat steps2and 3again.
5. Start theengine.
6. Repeat thesteps above untilallpossible inter-
ferences areeliminated.
If this procedure allowstheengine tostart, NISSAN
recommends placingtheregistered NATS key sepa-
rate from other devices toavoid interference.

Anti-theft systemactivates andtheaudio unitislocked.
The only waytounlock theaudio unitisto enter the
radio code number shownonanidentification card
supplied withthevehicle documentation.

Unlocking theunit :

If the battery supplytothe vehicle isinterrupted, the
audio unitwilllock.
When thepower isrestored andtheunit switched on,
the display willshow ªRadio Codeºanditwill be
unlocked whenthecodes havebeen entered correctly .

Read thissection verycarefully .It is important thatthe
instructions arefollowed precisely.

Starting anddriving
Ð When driving onasteep downhill slope
or roads withsharp curves.
Ð When towing atrailer.
. Insome roadortraffic conditions, the
forward emergency brakingsystemmay
unexpectedly pushtheaccelerator pedalup
or apply partial braking. Whenacceleration
is necessary, continuetodepress theaccel-
erator pedaltooverride thesystem.
. Braking distances increaseonslippery sur-
faces.
. Excessive noisewillinterfere withthewarn-
ing chime sound, andthechime maynotbe
heard.
. The system isdesigned toautomatically
check thesensor's functionality, withincer-
tain limitations. Thesystem maynotdetect
some forms ofobstruction ofthe sensor
area ofthe front bumper suchasice, snow,
stickers, forexample. Inthese cases, the
system maynotbeable towarn thedriver
properly. Besure thatyoucheck, cleanand
clear thesensor areaofthe front bumper
regularly.

1. Using the
switches andtheENTER button
on the leftside ofthe steering wheel,selectthe
Settings menuinthe vehicle information display.

2. Using the
switches andtheENTER button,
navigate tothe [Driver Assistance] menu,followed by
the [Driving Aids]menu.
3. Inthe [Driving Aids]menu, highlight the[Emer-
gency Brake] itemandusetheENTER buttonto
toggle between ON(enabled) orOFF (disabled) .

is automatically turnedoff.The forward emergency
braking systemwarning light(orange) andthedriver
assist system forward indicator (orange)willilluminate.
Action totake:
When theabove conditions nolonger exist,the
forward emergency brakingsystemwillresume auto-

When thesensor areaofthe front bumper iscovered
with dirtorobstructed, makingitimpossible todetect a
vehicle ahead,theforward emergency brakingsystem
is automatically turnedoff.The forward emergency

and theªfront radarobstructionº warningmessage will
appear inthe vehicle information display.
Action totake:
If the warning light(orange) comeson,park thevehicle
in asafe location andturn theengine off.Check tosee
if the sensor areaofthe front bumper isblocked. Ifthe
sensor areaofthe front bumper isblocked, removethe
blocking material.Restarttheengine. Ifthe warning
light continues toilluminate, havetheforward emer-
gency braking systemchecked byaNISSAN dealer.
System malfunction

it will beturned offautomatically ,a chime willsound,
the forward emergency brakingsystemwarning light
(orange) willilluminate andthewarning message
