The disc brake padshaveaudible wearwarnings.
When abrake padrequires replacement, itwill make a
high pitched scraping soundwhenthevehicle isin
motion. Thisscraping soundwillfirst occur onlywhen
the brake pedalisdepressed. Aftermore wearofthe
brake pad,thesound willalways beheard evenifthe
brake pedal isnot depressed. Havethebrakes
checked assoon aspossible ifthe wear warning
sound isheard.
Under somedriving orclimate conditions, occasional
brake squeaks, squealsorother noises maybeheard.
Occasional brakenoiseduring lighttomoderate stops
is normal anddoes notaffect thefunction or
performance ofthe brake system.
Proper brakeinspection intervalsshouldbefollowed.

BRAKE BOOSTER

Check thebrake booster function asfollows:
1. With theengine off,depress andrelease thefoot
brake pedalseveral times.When thebrake pedal
movement (distanceoftravel) remains thesame
from onepedal application tothe next, continue on
to the next step.
2. While depressing thefoot brake pedal, startthe
engine. Thepedal height should dropalittle.
3. With thefoot brake pedaldepressed, stopthe
engine. Keep thepedal depressed forabout 30
seconds. Thepedal height should notchange.

4. Run theengine for1minute without depressing
the foot brake pedal, thenturnitoff. Depress the
foot brake pedalseveral times.Thepedal travel
distance willdecrease graduallywitheach de-
pression asthe vacuum isreleased fromthe
booster.
If the brakes donot operate properly,have thebrakes
checked byaNISSAN dealer.

engine hoodisopened.
