The Intelligent Key system canoperate allthe door and

operating environment and/orconditions mayaffect
the Intelligent Key system operation. Be

Intelligent Key system.

The Intelligent Key isalways communicating withthe
vehicle asitreceives radiowaves. TheIntelligent Key
system transmits weakradiowaves. Environmental
conditions mayinterfere withtheoperation ofthe
Intelligent Key system underthefollowing operating
conditions.
. When operating nearalocation wherestrong
radio waves aretransmitted, suchasaTV tower,
power station andbroadcasting station.
. When inpossession ofwireless equipment, such
as acellular telephone, transceiver, andCBradio.
. When theIntelligent Key isin contact withor
covered bymetallic materials.
. When anytype ofradio wave remote controlis
used nearby .
. When theIntelligent Key isplaced nearanelectric
appliance suchasapersonal computer.
. When thevehicle isparked nearaparking meter.
In such cases, correct theoperating conditions before
using theIntelligent Key function oruse themechanical
key .
Although thelifeofthe battery variesdepending onthe
operating conditions, thebattery's lifeisapproximately
2 years. Ifthe battery isdischarged, replaceitwith a

Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors locked andtheignition switchoff.Place

the system off.
If the system malfunctions, theshort beep

seconds. Thevehicle security systemisnow pre-
armed. Afterabout 30seconds thevehicle
security systemautomatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash once
every approximately 3seconds. If,during this30
seconds pre-armtimeperiod, thedoor isun-
locked, orthe ignition switchisplaced inªONº ,
the system willnot alarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors, hood,andback doorlocked withthe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position. When
placing theignition switchinthe ªONº position,
the system willbereleased.
Theft warning systemoperation:

. Unlocking thedoor oropening theback door
without usingthebutton onthe remote controller

NA TS key.
If the engine doesnotstart using theregistered NATS

. Automated tollroad device.
. Automated paymentdevice.
. Other devices thattransmit similarsignals.
Start theengine usingthefollowing procedure:
1. Remove anyitems thatmay becausing the
interference awayfromtheNATS key.
2. Leave theignition switchinthe ªONº position for
approximately 5seconds.
3. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº orªLOCKº
position, andwait approximately 10seconds.
4. Repeat steps2and 3again.
5. Start theengine.
6. Repeat thesteps above untilallpossible inter-
ferences areeliminated.
If this procedure allowstheengine tostart, NISSAN
recommends placingtheregistered NATS key sepa-
rate from other devices toavoid interference.
