The engine coolant temperature isnormal whenthe
gauge needle pointswithinthezone

The engine coolant temperature willvary with the
outside airtemperature anddriving conditions.
CAUTION:
. Ifthe gauge indicates theengine coolant
temperature isnear thehot (H)end ofthe
normal range,reduce vehicle speedto
decrease thetemperature.
. Ifthe gauge isover thenormal range,stop
the vehicle assoon assafely possible and
let the engine idle.
. Ifthe engine isoverheated, continuedop-
eration ofthe vehicle mayseriously damage
the engine. (SeeªIfyour vehicle overheatsº
(P .6-10) forimmediate actionrequired.)

The fuelgauge indicates theapproximate fuellevel in
the tank when theignition switchisin the ªONº
position.
The gauge maymove slightly duringbraking, turning,
accelerating, orgoing upand down hillsdueto
movement offuel inthe tank.
The lowfuel
warning
appears onthe vehicle
information displaywhenthefuel level inthe tank is
getting low.Refuel assoon asitis convenient,
preferably beforethegauge reads0(empty) .

For models withStop/Start SystemorIdling
Stop System:
While theengine isstopped bythe Stop/Start System
or the Idling StopSystem, switching theairflow tothe
front defogger willcause theengine toautomatically
restart.
While theengine isrunning, selecting airflowtothe
front defogger willprevent theStop/Start Systemor
Idling StopSystem fromautomatically stoppingthe
engine.
When theengine isstopped bythe Stop/Start System
or Idling StopSystem, heaterandairconditioner
performance maybereduced. To keep fullheater and
air conditioner performance, restarttheengine by
pushing theStop/Start SystemOFFswitch orthe
Idling StopSystem OFFswitch, orby placing the
ignition switchinthe ªONº position. Formore details

18) .

After thecoolant temperature warmsup,the airflow
from thefoot outlets willoperate normally.

indicator illuminates, theengine startsrunning

. the battery voltage becomes low(due to
electrical loadfrom other vehicle systems
like headlights, heaters,etc.,or auxiliary
devices connected tothe 12volt socket
inside thevehicle) .
. the vehicle speedisabove about2km/h (1
MPH) .
. thefront defogger isoperated.
. when thetemperature insidethevehicle is
too high orlow. (When theairconditioner is
off, theStop/Start SystemorIdling Stop
System willoperate.)
