CAUTION:
When parking inan area where theoutside
temperature isbelow 08C (32 8F),do not apply
the parking braketoprevent itfrom freezing.
For safe parking, placetheshift lever inthe ª1º
(1st) orªRº(Reverse) position(forMTmodel) or
ªPº (Park) position (CVTmodel) andsecurely
block thewheels.
NO TE:
. To keep theelectronic parkingbrakere-
leased aftertheengine isturned off,place
the ignition switchinthe ªOFFº position,
depress thebrake pedalandpush down the
parking brakeswitch before opening the
driver's door.
. Ifamalfunction occursinthe electric park-
ing brake system (forexample, dueto
battery discharge) ,contact aNISSAN dealer.

. Ifthe electronic parkingbrakemustbe

you release theparking brakeswitch, the

While pulling upthe electronic parking
brake switch during driving, theparking
brake isapplied andachime sounds. The
electronic parkingbrakewarning lightinthe
meter andinthe parking brakeswitch
illuminate. Thisdoes notindicate amalfunc-
tion. Theelectronic parkingbrakewarning
light inthe meter andinthe parking brake
switch turnoffwhen theparking brakeis
released.
. When pulling theelectronic parkingbrake
switch upwith theignition switchinthe
ªOFFº orªACCº position, theparking brake
switch indicator lightwillcontinue toillumi-
nate forashort period oftime.
When towing atrailer (forAustralia, New
Zealand, SouthAfricaandEurope)

Depending onthe weight ofthe vehicle andtrailer and
the steepness ofthe slope, theremaybeatendency
for the vehicle tomove backwards whenstarting froma
standstill. Whenthisoccurs, youcan usetheparking
brake switch inthe same wayasaconventional lever
type parking brake.
Before starting onsloping roadswhentowing atrailer,
be sure toread thefollowing toprevent thevehicle
from moving backward unintentionally .
1. Pull and hold theparking brakeswitch while
depressing theaccelerator pedalandengaging
the clutch (MTmodels) .
2. Release theparking brakeswitch assoon asthe
engine isdelivering enoughtorquetothe wheels.

Camera maintenance

MOD system maynotoperate properly.Clean the
camera.
The camera washeroperates automatically whendirtis
detected onthe camera duringdriving. Thewasher
then stops operation afteraperiod oftime.
P ARK ASSIST (PA) (ifequipped)

Park Assist (PA) isdesigned toassist drivers with
parallel andperpendicular parking.
This system willoperate thesteering wheeltopark the
vehicle inthe parking spacesetbythe driver onthe
bird's-eye viewscreen (perpendicular mode),or
measured byparking sensors (sonar)inthe left/right
side ofthe front bumper (parallel mode).Screen
guidance forthe shift lever operation isalso provided
during theparking maneuvers.
WARNING:
. PA is designed tosupport thedriver's
steering wheeloperation inaparking lot.It
does notautomatically lowerthevehicle
speed oravoid contact withobjects. As
when performing ordinaryparkingmaneu-
vers, always lookoutthewindows andcheck
with your owneyes tobe sure thatthe
surrounding androad conditions aresafe for
the maneuvers beforeoperating thevehicle.
Operate thevehicle slowlyduring thepark -
ing maneuvers. Ifthe vehicle getsclose to
people orobjects nearthevehicle, avoid
making contactbyusing thebrakes and
performing othermaneuvers.
. Do not touch thespoke ofthe steering
wheel whilethePA is operating. Itcould cause
injuries tohands orfingers. Keep
neckties, scarves.etc.away fromthesteer-
ing wheel sincetheymaygetentangled and
cause unexpected accidents.

reaches theproper position tochange themove-
ment direction. Thenchange theshift lever for
forward orrearward movement. Repetitions ofthis
operation mayberequired foraligning thevehicle
straight.

. The system willguide thevehicle toa
position whereadirection changeisre-
quired.
. Awarning chimewillsound whenthevehicle
speed exceeds thespeed limitforthe PA
operation.

Finishing theparking operation:

depress thebrake andstop thevehicle. Touch the
ªCancelº keytoterminate thePA system.
NO TE:
. Make anynecessary adjustments manually

Depending onthe situation, shiftlever
operations mayberequired severaltimes
for maneuvering thevehicle intotheparking
space.
. Ifthe vehicle reaches theapproximate area
of the target parking spacefound, achime
will sound. Amessage indicating thatthePA
operation isfinishing willappear onthe
display andthePA operation willterminate
automatically.
Deactivation ofPA:

The PA will deactivate underthefollowing conditions.
. When thesteering wheelisoperated manually.

. When thesystem judgesthattheconditions (such
as worn outorlow pressure tires,roadconditions,
etc.) arenot suitable forcorrect coursepredic-
tions.
. When thevehicle speedexceeds approximately 7
km/h (4MPH) .
. When theparking operation bythe driver deviates
from thePA guidance tosome extent.
