The engine cooling systemisfilled atthe factory witha
high-quality ,year-round, anti-freezecoolantsolution.
The anti-freeze solutioncontains rustandcorrosion
inhibitors, thereforeadditional coolingsystemadditives
are not necessary .
CAUTION:
. Never useanycooling systemadditives such
as radiator sealer.Additives mayclog the
cooling systemandcause damage tothe
engine, transmission and/orcooling system.
. When adding orreplacing coolant,besure
to use only Genuine NISSANEngineCoolant
or equivalent inits quality withtheproper
mixture ratio.Examples ofthe mixture ratio
of coolant andwater areshown inthe

2. Start theengine andwarm itup until theengine

back tothe oilpan.
5. Remove thedipstick andwipe itclean. 6.
Reinsert thedipstick allthe way.
7. Remove thedipstick andcheck theoillevel. It

out ofthe reach ofchildren.

floor jackandsafety jackstands.

jack -up points.

6. Remove theplastic engine undercover (if
equipped) .

1. Place alarge drainpanunder thedrain plug.
2. Remove thedrain plugwithawrench.
3. Remove theoilfiller capand completely drainthe
oil.
If the oilfilter isto be changed, removeand
replace itat this time.
CAUTION:

4. Remove theplastic coverovertheoilfilter location
by removing thesmall plastic clipsasillustrated.
(For QR25DE engine)
5. Loosen theoilfilter withanoilfilter wrench.
6. Remove theoilfilter byturning itby hand.
7. Wipe theengine oilfilter mounting surfacewitha
clean cloth.
Be sure toremove anyoldgasket remaining onthe
mounting surface. 8.
Apply newengine oiltothe gasket ofthe new oil
filter.
9. Screw inthe oilfilter untilaslight resistance isfelt
and then tighten anadditional 2/3ofaturn to
secure thefilter.
Oil filter tightening torque:
15 to20 N´m
(1.5 to2.0 kg-m, 11to15 ft-lb)
10. Clean andreinstall thedrain plugandnew washer.
Securely tightenthedrain plugwithawrench. Do
not use excessive force.
Drain plugtightening torque:
29 to39 N´m
(3.0 to4.0 kg-m, 22to29 ft-lb)
11. Refill therecommended engineoiland quantity .
(See ªRecommended Fluids/lubricants andcapa-
citiesº (P.9-2) .)
When fillingtheengine oil,donot remove
the dipstick.
12. Securely installtheoilfiller cap.
13. Start theengine.
14. Check thedrain plugforany sign ofleakage.
15. Dispose ofthe used oilinthe proper manner.
Check yourlocal regulations.
16. Check theengine oillevel according tothe proper

Apply newengine oiltothe O-ring.
Install thenew O-ring onthe new oilfilter element.
9. Insert theoilfilter element intotheengine oilfilter
cover.
10. Screw inthe oilfilter cover untilaslight resistance
is felt, and then tighten thefilter completely .
Oil filter cover tightening torque:
25 N´m
(2.6 kg-m, 18ft-lb)
11. Clean andreinstall thedrain plugandnew washer.
Securely tightenthedrain plugwithawrench. Do
not use excessive force.
Drain plugtightening torque:
50 N´m
(5.1 kg-m, 36.9ft-lb)
12. Refill therecommended engineoiland quantity .
(See ªRecommended Fluids/lubricants andcapa-
citiesº (P.9-2) .)
13. Securely installtheoilfiller cap.
14. Start theengine.
15. Check thedrain plugforany sign ofleakage.
16. Dispose ofthe used oilinthe proper manner.
