objects. Whenchanging lanes,always use
the side andrear mirrors andturn andlook

the BSW system.
. The camera unitmay notfunction properly
under thefollowing conditions:
Ð When towing atrailer.
Ð When strong lightenters thecamera
unit. (Forexample, lightdirectly shines
on the rear ofthe vehicle atsunrise or
sunset.) Ð
When ambient brightness changessud-
denly. (Forexample, whenthevehicle
enters orexits atunnel orpasses under
a bridge.)
. Ifthe camera lensisexcessively dirty,the
automatic washermaynotbeable to
completely cleanthelens. Thiscould result
in the camera notdetecting vehiclesorlane
markers.
. Excessive noise(forexample, audiosystem
volume, openvehicle window) willinterfere
with thechime sound, anditmay notbe
heard.

BSW indicator (inthe Vehicle information display)
The BSW system operates aboveapproximately 32
km/h (20MPH) .
The BSW lightisshown inthe vehicle information
display ifthe Blind SpotWarning system isactive. To
switch thesystem onoroff, see thedescription laterin
this section.
When thecamera unitdetects vehicles inthe detection
zone, theBlind SpotIndicator lightlocated insidethe
outside mirrorswillilluminate. Ifthe turn signal isthen
activated, thesystem chimes (twice)andtheBlind
Spot Indicator lightflashes toalert thedriver.
The Blind SpotIndicator lightcontinues toflash until
the detected vehicle(s) leavethedetection zone.

The camera unitcan detect vehicles oneither sideof
your vehicle whenpartofanother vehicleiswithin the
detection zoneshown asillustrated.
This detection zonetypically startsfromtheoutside
mirror ofyour vehicle andextends approximately 3m
(10 ft)behind therear bumper, andapproximately 3m
(10 ft)sideways.
The brightness ofthe Blind SpotIndicator lightsis
adjusted automatically dependingonthe brightness of
the ambient light.
A chime sounds ifthe camera unithasalready
detected vehicleswhenthedriver activates theturn
signal. Ifa vehicle comesintothedetection zoneafter
the driver activates theturn signal, thenonlytheBlind
Spot Indicator lightflashes andnochime sounds. (See

If the message appears,parkthevehicle inasafe
place, cleanthecamera unitwith asoft cloth. Thenturn
off and restart theengine.
BSW MALFUNCTION
