The security indicator lightblinks rapidly for
approximately 20seconds andthen blinks slowly.
The system isnow activated. If,during this20-
second timeperiod, thedoor isunlocked bythe
remote controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request

position, thesystem willnot activate.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors locked andtheignition switchoff.Place

the system off.
If the system malfunctions, theshort beep

The security indicator lightstays onfor about 30
seconds. Thevehicle security systemisnow pre-
armed. Afterabout 30seconds thevehicle
security systemautomatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash once
every approximately 3seconds. If,during this30
seconds pre-armtimeperiod, thedoor isun-
locked, orthe ignition switchisplaced inªONº ,
the system willnot alarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors, hood,andback doorlocked withthe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position. When
placing theignition switchinthe ªONº position,
the system willbereleased.
Theft warning systemoperation:

The vehicle security systemwillgive thefollowing
alarm:
. The hazard indicator orheadlight blinksandthe
horn sounds intermittently .

The alarm isactivated by:
. Unlocking thedoor oropening theback door
without usingthebutton onthe remote controller
or the Intelligent Key ,the door handle request

The NISSAN Anti-Theft System (NATS) willnotallow
the engine tostart without theuse ofthe registered
NA TS key.
If the engine doesnotstart using theregistered NATS
key ,it may bedue tointerference causedby:
. Another NATS key.
. Automated tollroad device.
. Automated paymentdevice.
. Other devices thattransmit similarsignals.
Start theengine usingthefollowing procedure:
1. Remove anyitems thatmay becausing the
interference awayfromtheNATS key.
2. Leave theignition switchinthe ªONº position for
approximately 5seconds.
3. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº orªLOCKº
position, andwait approximately 10seconds.
4. Repeat steps2and 3again.
5. Start theengine.
6. Repeat thesteps above untilallpossible inter-
ferences areeliminated.
If this procedure allowstheengine tostart, NISSAN
recommends placingtheregistered NATS key sepa-
rate from other devices toavoid interference.

Auto reverse function

The auto-reverse functionenablestheback doorto
automatically reversewhensomething iscaught inthe
back doorasitis opening orclosing. Whenthecontrol
unit detects anobstacle, theback doorwillreverse and
return tothe fullopen orfull close position.
If asecond obstacle isdetected, theback doormotion
will stop. Theback doorwillenter themanual mode.
A pinch sensor ismounted oneach sideofthe back
door. Ifan obstacle isdetected bythe pinch sensor
during powerclose,theback doorwillreverse and
return tothe fullopen position immediately .
NO TE:
If the pinch sensor isdamaged orremoved, the
power closefunction willnotoperate.
WARNING:
There isasmall distance immediately beforethe
closed position thatcannot bedetected. Make
sure thatallpassengers keeptheirhands, etc.,
clear fromtheback dooropening beforeclosing
the back door.
Manual mode

If power operation isnot available, theback doorcan
be operated manually.Power operation maynotbe
available ifmultiple obstacles havebeen detected ina
single power cycleorifthe battery voltage islow .
When thepower backdoormain switch isin the OFF
position, theback doorcanbeopened manually by
pushing theback dooropener switch.Ifthe power
back dooropener switchispushed duringpoweropen
or close, thepower operation willbecanceled andthe
back doorcanbeoperated manually.

If the back doorispulled downtoapartly open
position, theback doorwillpull itself tothe closed
position.
Do not apply excessive forcewhen theauto
closure isoperating. Excessiveforceapplied

CAUTION:
. The back doorwillautomatically closefrom
a partly openposition. To avoid pinching,
keep hands andfingers awayfromback
door opening.
. Donot letchildren operatetheback door.

steps.
1. Fold therear seats down. SeeªSeatsº (P.1-2) .
2. Insert asuitable toolinthe access opening. Move
