position withthehigh beam selected. Thisindicates
that thehigh beam assist system isoperational. (See

High beam indicator light

The high beam indicator lightilluminates whenthe
headlight highbeam ison. The indicator turnsoffwhen

Hill descent controlsystem onindicator
light (ifequipped)

When theignition switchisplaced inthe ªONº position
the hilldescent controlsystem onindicator light
illuminates brieflyandthen turns off.This indicates
that thehilldescent controlsystem isoperational.
The light illuminates whenthehilldescent control
system isactivated.
If the hilldescent controlswitchison and theindicator
light blinks, thesystem isnot engaged.
If the indicator lightdoes notilluminate orblink when
the hilldescent controlswitchison, the system may
not befunctioning properly.Have thesystem checked
by aNISSAN dealer.

Hill Start Assist system onindicator
light (ifequipped)

The light illuminates whentheconditions ofthe hillstart
assist system aresatisfied whenthevehicle isstopped
on ahill.
Then, thelight blinks whenthebrake pedalisreleased,
which indicates thatthehillstart assist system is
activated.

Malfunction IndicatorLight(MIL)

CAUTION:
. Continuing vehicleoperation withoutproper
servicing ofthe engine control systemand/
or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
could leadtopoor driveability, reducedfuel
economy, anddamage tothe engine control
system and/orCVTsystem, whichmayaffect
the vehicle's warranty coverage.
. Incorrect settingofthe engine control sys-
tem may lead tonon-compliance oflocal
and national emission lawsandregulations.
When theignition switchisin the ªONº position, the
Malfunction IndicatorLight(MIL) illuminates. After
starting theengine, theMIL turns off.This indicates
that theengine control system and/orCVTsystem is
operational.
If the MIL illuminates whiletheengine isrunning, itmay
indicate thattheengine control system isnot
functioning properlyandmay need servicing. Have
the vehicle checked, andifnecessary repaired,bya
NISSAN dealerpromptly . If
the MIL blinks (ifequipped) whiletheengine is
running, itmay indicate apotential malfunction inthe
emission controlsystem. Inthis case, theemission
control system maynotfunction properly andmay need
servicing. Havethesystem checked, andifnecessary
repaired, byaNISSAN dealerpromptly .

T o reduce oravoid possible damagetothe engine
control system whentheMIL blinks:
. Avoid driving atspeeds above70km/h (43MPH) .
. Avoid sudden acceleration ordeceleration.
. Avoid goingupsteep uphillgrades.
. Avoid carrying ortowing unnecessary loads.
Rear foglight indicator light(if

Security indicator light

How toactivate system:

1. Close allwindows andsunroof (ifequipped) .
2. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº position.
3. Carry theremote controller orthe Intelligent Key
with youand getoutofthe vehicle.
4. Make surethehood andtheback doorareclosed.
Close andlock alldoors withtheremote
controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request switch.
If a door orthe hood isopen, thebuzzer will
sound. Thebuzzer willstop when thedoor is
correctly closed.
5. Confirm thatthesecurity indicator lightcomes on.
The security indicator lightblinks rapidly for
approximately 20seconds andthen blinks slowly.
The system isnow activated. If,during this20-
second timeperiod, thedoor isunlocked bythe
remote controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request
switch, orthe ignition switchisplaced inthe ªONº
position, thesystem willnot activate.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors locked andtheignition switchoff.Place
the ignition switchinthe ªONº position toturn
the system off.
If the system malfunctions, theshort beep
sounds 5times whenthesystem isactivated.
Have thesystem checked byaNISSAN dealer.
Theft warning systemoperation:

The warning systemwillgive thefollowing alarm:
. The hazard indicator blinksandthealarm sounds
intermittently forapproximately 30seconds. (The
alarm willrepeat 8times.) .
The alarm automatically turnsoffafter approxi-
mately 30seconds. However, thealarm reacti-
vates ifthe vehicle istampered withagain.
The alarm isactivated when:
. operating thedoor orthe back doorwithout using
the remote controller, theIntelligent Key orthe
request switch.
. opening thehood (ifequipped) .
. thevolumetric sensingsystem(ultrasonic sensors)
is triggered (whenitis activated) .
. thepower supply isdisconnected.
How tostop alarm:

. The alarm willstop byunlocking adoor withthe
request switch(ifequipped) orthe ªUNL OCKº
button onthe Intelligent Key .
