. Park thevehicle onalevel surface, applythe
parking brakesecurely andblock thewheels
to prevent thevehicle frommoving. Move
the shift lever tothe ªPº(Park) position
(Continuously Variable Transmission model)
or the shift lever tothe ªNº(Neutral) position
(Manual Transmission model).
. Besure theignition switchisin the ªOFFº or
ªLOCKº position whenperforming anyparts
replacement orrepairs.
. Do not work under thehood while the
engine ishot. Always turnoffthe engine
and wait until itcools down.
. Ifyou must workwiththeengine running,
keep yourhands, clothing, hairandtools

. Never getunder thevehicle whileitis
supported byajack. .
Keep smoking materials, flameandsparks
away fromfuelandthebattery.
. Never connect ordisconnect eitherthe
battery orany transistorized component
connector whiletheignition switchisin the
ªONº position.
. Ongasoline enginemodels withtheMulti-
port Fuel Injection (MFI)system, thefuel
filter andfuel lines should beserviced bya
NISSAN dealerbecause thefuel lines are
under highpressure evenwhen theengine is
turned off.
. Your vehicle isequipped withanautomatic
engine cooling fan.Itmay come onatany
time without warning, evenifthe ignition
switch isin the ªOFFº position andthe
engine isnot running. To avoid injury, always
disconnect thenegative batterycablebefore
working nearthefan.
. Always weareyeprotection wheneveryou
