K eep thecorner sensors (located onthe front andrear
bumper fascia)freefrom snow,ice and large
accumulations ofdirt. Donot clean thesensors with
sharp objects. Ifthe sensors arecovered, theaccuracy
of the corner sensor function willbediminished.
The tone sound andthesensor indicator displaycan
be turn on/off, andthevolume ofthe tone sound and
the sensor detection rangecanbeadjusted. (See
ªDriver Assistanceº (P.2-21) .)
WARNING:
. The corner sensor function isnot designed
to prevent theobject.
. The colors ofthe corner sensor indicator and
the distance guidelinesinthe front/rear
view indicate different distances tothe
object.
. Inclement weathermayaffect thefunction of
the corner sensor system; thismay include reduced
performance orafalse activation.
. This function isdesigned asan aid tothe
driver indetecting largestationary objectsto
help avoid damaging thevehicle. Thesystem
will notdetect smallobjects belowthe
bumper, andmay notdetect objects that
are too close tothe bumper oron the
ground.
. Ifyour vehicle sustains damagetothe
bumper fascia,leaving itmisaligned orbent,
the sensing zonemaybealtered causing
inaccurate measurement ofobstacles or
false alarms.
CAUTION:
Keep theinterior ofthe vehicle asquiet as

MOVING OBJECTDETECTION (MOD)
FUNCTION (ifequipped)

The Moving ObjectDetection (MOD)system can
inform thedriver ofmoving objects whendriving outof
garages, maneuvering intoparking lotsand inother
such instances.
The MOD system detects movingobjects byusing
image processing technologyonthe image shown on
the display .The rear view camera isequipped withthe
automatic washerfunction usingwindow washerfluid.
The MOD system operates inthe following conditions
when thecamera viewisdisplayed:
. When theshift lever isin the ªPº (Park) orªNº
(Neutral) position(CVTmodel) orthe shift lever is
out ofthe ªRº (Reverse) position(MTmodel) and
the vehicle isstopped, theMOD system detects
the moving objects inthe bird's-eye view.The MOD
system willnotoperate ifthe outside mirror
is moving inor out orifeither doorisopened.
. When theshift lever isin the ªDº (Drive) position
(CVT model) orthe shift lever isout ofthe ªRº
(Reverse) position(MTmodel) ,and thevehicle
speed isbelow approximately 8km/h (5MPH) ,
the MOD system detects movingobjects inthe
front view.
. When theshift lever isin the ªRº (Reverse)
position andthevehicle speedisbelow approxi-
mately 8km/h (5MPH) ,the MOD system detects
moving objects inthe rear view.The MOD system
will notoperate ifthe back doorisopen.
The MOD system doesnotdetect moving objects in
the front-side view.The MOD iconisnot displayed on
the screen wheninthis view .
WARNING:
. The MOD system isnot asubstitute for
proper vehicle operation anddoes notpre-
vent contact withtheobjects surrounding
the vehicle. Whenmaneuvering, alwaysuse
the outside mirrorandinside rearview mirror
and turn andlook tocheck thesurroundings
to make sureitis safe tomaneuver.
. The system isdeactivated atspeeds above
10 km/h (6MPH) .It is reactivated atlower
speeds.
. The system isnot designed toprevent
contact withallobjects.
. The MOD system isnot designed todetect
surrounding stationaryobjects.

ited according toenvironmental conditions
and surrounding objectssuchas:
Ð When thereislow contrast between
background andthemoving objects.
Ð When thereisblinking sourceoflight.
Ð When strong lightsuch asanother
vehicle's headlight orsunlight ispre-
sent. Ð
When thereisdirt, water drops orsnow
on the camera lens.
Ð When theposition ofthe moving objects
in the display isnot changed.
. The MOD system mightdetect flowing water
droplets onthe camera lens,white smoke
from themuffler, movingshadows, etc.
. The MOD system maynotfunction properly
depending onthe speed, direction, distance
or shape ofthe moving objects.
. Ifyour vehicle sustains damagetothe parts
where thecamera isinstalled, leavingit
misaligned orbent, thesensing zonemaybe
altered andtheMOD system maynotdetect
objects properly.
. When thetemperature isextremely highor
low, thescreen maynotdisplay objects
clearly. Thisisnot amalfunction.

Camera maintenance

If dirt, rainorsnow accumulates onthe camera, the
MOD system maynotoperate properly.Clean the
camera.
The camera washeroperates automatically whendirtis
detected onthe camera duringdriving. Thewasher
then stops operation afteraperiod oftime.
P ARK ASSIST (PA) (ifequipped)

Park Assist (PA) isdesigned toassist drivers with
parallel andperpendicular parking.
This system willoperate thesteering wheeltopark the
vehicle inthe parking spacesetbythe driver onthe
bird's-eye viewscreen (perpendicular mode),or
measured byparking sensors (sonar)inthe left/right
side ofthe front bumper (parallel mode).Screen
guidance forthe shift lever operation isalso provided
during theparking maneuvers.
WARNING:
. PA is designed tosupport thedriver's
steering wheeloperation inaparking lot.It
does notautomatically lowerthevehicle
speed oravoid contact withobjects. As
when performing ordinaryparkingmaneu-
vers, always lookoutthewindows andcheck
with your owneyes tobe sure thatthe
surrounding androad conditions aresafe for
the maneuvers beforeoperating thevehicle.
Operate thevehicle slowlyduring thepark -
ing maneuvers. Ifthe vehicle getsclose to
people orobjects nearthevehicle, avoid
making contactbyusing thebrakes and
performing othermaneuvers.
. Do not touch thespoke ofthe steering
wheel whilethePA is operating. Itcould cause
injuries tohands orfingers. Keep
neckties, scarves.etc.away fromthesteer-
ing wheel sincetheymaygetentangled and
cause unexpected accidents.

fit inthe actual parking spacefollowing thecorrect
procedure, checkthesurroundings andadjust the
location ofyour vehicle.
. Up toapproximately 70cm (27 in)offine

the place fromwhich PA operation started.
. When thevehicle passes thereverse starting
position byover 2m (7 ft).
. When thevehicle speedexceeds approximately 7
km/h (4MPH) .
. When theparking operation bythe driver deviates
from thePA guidance tosome extent.
Safety notes

stones, wheeltracks, etc.

. Atmechanical parkingfacilities.
. Where parking orstopping isprohibited.
. When tirechains oraspare tireareinstalled.
. When thevehicle isbeing towed.
. When thedoors (including theback door)
are not closed.
. When transporting aload thatprotrudes
from yourvehicle.
. When thevehicle isladen withheavy loads.
NO TE:
. Under theconditions listedbelow, theremay
be instances inwhich surrounding objectsor
vehicles cutinto thevehicle pathway, or
when thevehicle cannotbeparked inthe
correct spotfollowing thePA operation, etc. Ð
When theshift lever isoperated while
driving.
Ð When sudden start,sudden stopor
sudden operation ofthe shift lever oc-
curs.
Ð When thetire pressure istoo low orthe
tire isworn out.
Ð When tiresareinstalled thatareofa
different sizefrom theones thatwere
equipped atthe time offactory shipment.
. When usingtheparallel parking mode,itis
not always possible forthe system tofind an
appropriate parkingspaceandmay indicate
parking spacesthatarenot suitable for

space correctly.
Ð Parking spaceswithobjects located
above theheight rangeofparking sen-
sors (sonars) (i.e.,overhanging loads,tail
sections orloading rampsofgoods
vehicles) .
Ð Parking spacesthatarepartially occu-
pied bytrailer drawbars.
Ð Parking spacesthatarelittered orover-
grown.
Ð Parking spaceswhereacurb exists
(causing damageofthe wheels andtires) .
Ð Parking spacesthatareblocked by
foliage, grass,paving, blocks,etc.
Ð Parking spacesbordered byan obstacle
(i.e., atree, apost oratrailer) .
Ð Parking spaceswithobjects thatabsorb
ultrasonic wavessuchasfabric andsnow. Ð
During snowfall orheavy rain.
Ð Near objects thatemits ultrasonic waves
such ashorns ofother vehicle, noisefrom
a motorcycle engineandlarge automo-
bile airbrake, orsensors ofsurrounding
vehicles.
Ð When theconditions surrounding the
parking spacechange (i.e.,another vehi-
cle enters thetarget parking spaceafter
you pass it).
Operating tips:

. The parking sensor(sonar) willautomatically turn
on when thePA is activated. WhenthePA
operation ends,thestatus ofthe parking sensor

Malfunction:

will terminate operation whenamalfunction isdetected

malfunction. Itshould nothinder normal driving, but
