matically restarting theengine. Starting the
engine withtheignition switchoperation isthen
necessary:
. the driver's seatbeltisunfastened, and
driver's doorisopen (forMTmodel) .
. thehood isopen.
Use thissystem whilewaiting atstoplight, etc.When
the vehicle isstopped forlong periods oftime, turnoff
the engine. When
theengine isstopped bythe Stop/Start System
or Idling StopSystem, heating,coolinganddehumi-
difying functions willbedeactivated. To avoid theair
conditioning functionsfrombeing deactivated, turnoff
the Idling Stopmode bypressing theStop/Start or
Idling StopOFFswitch.

TIRE EQUIPMENT

1. Ifyou have snow tiresinstalled onthe front/rear
wheels ofyour vehicle, theyshould beofthe same
size, loading range,construction andtype (bias,
bias-belted orradial) asthe rear/front tires.
2. Ifthe vehicle isto be operated insevere winter
conditions, snowtiresshould beinstalled onall
four wheels.
3. Foradditional tractiononicy roads, studded tires
may beused. However, somecountries, provinces
and states prohibit theiruse.Check local,state
and provincial lawsbefore installing studdedtires.
Skid andtraction capabilities ofstudded
snow tires,onwet ordry surfaces, maybe
poorer thanthatofnon-studded snowtires.
4. Snow chains maybeused ifdesired. Makesure
they arethe proper sizeforthe tires onyour
vehicle andareinstalled according tothe chain
manufacturer's instructions.Usechain tensioners
when recommended bythe tire chain manufac-
turer toensure atight fit.Loose endlinks ofthe tire

If your vehicle isoverheating (indicatedbythe high
temperature indicator),or ifyou feel alack ofengine
power, detectunusual noise,etc.,takethefollowing
steps:
1. Safely movethevehicle offthe road away from
traffic.
2. Turn onthe hazard indicator flasherlights.
3. Apply theparking brake.
4. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) position.
Manual Transmission (MT)model: Movetheshift
lever tothe ªNº (Neutral) position.
DO NOTST OP THE ENGINE . 5.
Open allthe windows.
6. Turn offthe airconditioner. Movethetemperature
control tomaximum hotand thefancontrol tohigh
speed.
7. Get outfrom thevehicle.
8. Visually inspectandlisten forsteam orcoolant
escaping fromtheradiator beforeopening the
hood. Wait until nosteam orcoolant canbeseen
before proceeding.
9. Open theengine hood.
10. Visually inspectifthe cooling fanisrunning.
11. Visually inspecttheradiator andradiator hosesfor
leakage.
If the cooling fanisnot running orthe coolant is
leaking, stoptheengine.
12. After theengine coolsdown, checkthecoolant
level inthe reservoir withtheengine running. Do
not open theradiator cap.
13. Add coolant tothe reservoir ifnecessary .
