Periodically checkthattheseat beltandallthe metal
components, suchasbuckles, tongues, retractors,
flexible wiresandanchors, workproperly .If loose parts,
deterioration, cutsorother damage onthe seat belt
webbing isfound, theentire seatbeltassembly should
be replaced.
If dirt builds upinthe shoulder beltguide ofthe seat
belt anchors, theseat belts mayretract slowly.Wipe
the shoulder beltguide withaclean, drycloth.
T o clean theseat beltwebbing, applyamild soap
solution orany solution recommended forcleaning
upholstery orcarpet. Thenwipewithacloth andallow
the seat belts todry inthe shade. Donot allow theseat
belts toretract untilthey arecompletely dry.

. NISSAN recommends thatthechild re-
straints beinstalled inthe rear seat. Accord-
ing toaccident statistics,children aresafer
when properly restrained inthe rear seat
than inthe front seat.
. Improper useorimproper installation ofa
child restraint canincrease therisk or
severity ofinjury forboth thechild andother
occupants ofthe vehicle andcanlead to serious
injuryordeath inan accident.
. Follow allofthe child restraint manufac-
turer's instructions forinstallation anduse.
When purchasing achild restraint, besure to
select onewhich willfityour child and
vehicle. Itmay notbepossible toproperly
install sometypesofchild restraint inyour
vehicle.
. The direction ofthe child restraint, either
front-facing orrear-facing, dependsonthe
type ofthe child restraint andthesize ofthe
child. Refer tothe child restraint manufac-
turer's instructions fordetails.
. Adjustable seatbacksshouldbepositioned
to ensure fullcontact between childrestraint
and seatback.
. After attaching achild restraint, testit
before youplace thechild init.Push itfrom
side toside andtugitforward tomake sure
that itis held securely inplace. Thechild
restraint shouldnotmove morethan25mm
(1 in).If the restraint isnot secure, tighten
the belt asnecessary, orinstall therestraint
in another seatandtest itagain.
. When thechild restraint isnot inuse, keep it
secured withtheISOFIX childrestraint
system oraseat belttoprevent itfrom
being thrown around incase ofasudden
stop oraccident.
. Never install arear-facing childrestraint on
the front passenger's seatwhen thefront
passenger's airbag isavailable. Supple-
mental front-impact airbags inflate with
great force. Arear-facing childrestraint
could bestruck bythe supplemental front-
impact airbags inan accident andcould seriously
injureorkill your child.
. Ifthe seat beltinthe position whereachild
restraint isinstalled requiresalocking
device andifit is not used, injuries could
result fromachild restraint tippingover
during normal vehiclebraking orcornering.
CAUTION:
Remember thatachild restraint leftinaclosed
vehicle canbecome veryhot.Check theseating
surface andbuckles beforeplacing yourchild in
a child restraint.
NISSAN recommends thatinfants andsmall children
be seated inachild restraint. You should choose a
child restraint thatfitsyour vehicle andalways follow
the manufacturer's instructionsforinstallation anduse.
