2. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº position.
3. Carry theremote controller orthe Intelligent Key
with youand getoutofthe vehicle.
4. Make surethehood andtheback doorareclosed.
Close andlock alldoors withtheremote
controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request switch.
If a door orthe hood isopen, thebuzzer will
sound. Thebuzzer willstop when thedoor is
correctly closed.
5. Confirm thatthesecurity indicator lightcomes on.
The security indicator lightblinks rapidly for
approximately 20seconds andthen blinks slowly.
The system isnow activated. If,during this20-
second timeperiod, thedoor isunlocked bythe
remote controller, theIntelligent Key orthe request
switch, orthe ignition switchisplaced inthe ªONº
position, thesystem willnot activate.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors locked andtheignition switchoff.Place
the ignition switchinthe ªONº position toturn
the system off.
If the system malfunctions, theshort beep
sounds 5times whenthesystem isactivated.
Have thesystem checked byaNISSAN dealer.
Theft warning systemoperation:

The security indicator lightstays onfor about 30
seconds. Thevehicle security systemisnow pre-
armed. Afterabout 30seconds thevehicle
security systemautomatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash once
every approximately 3seconds. If,during this30
seconds pre-armtimeperiod, thedoor isun-
locked, orthe ignition switchisplaced inªONº ,
the system willnot alarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers arein
the vehicle, thesystem willactivate withall
doors, hood,andback doorlocked withthe
ignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position. When
placing theignition switchinthe ªONº position,
the system willbereleased.
Theft warning systemoperation:

The vehicle security systemwillgive thefollowing
alarm:

. Unlocking thedoor oropening theback door

the engine tostart without theuse ofthe registered
NA TS key.
If the engine doesnotstart using theregistered NATS
key ,it may bedue tointerference causedby:

. Automated tollroad device.
. Automated paymentdevice.
. Other devices thattransmit similarsignals.
Start theengine usingthefollowing procedure:
1. Remove anyitems thatmay becausing the
interference awayfromtheNATS key.
2. Leave theignition switchinthe ªONº position for
approximately 5seconds.
3. Place theignition switchinthe ªOFFº orªLOCKº
position, andwait approximately 10seconds.
4. Repeat steps2and 3again.
5. Start theengine.
6. Repeat thesteps above untilallpossible inter-
ferences areeliminated.
If this procedure allowstheengine tostart, NISSAN
recommends placingtheregistered NATS key sepa-
rate from other devices toavoid interference.

voir capwhile theengine ishot. Ifthe
radiator orcoolant reservoir capisremoved
when theengine ishot, pressurized hot
water willspurt outand possibly cause
burning, scalding orserious injury.
. Ifsteam orcoolant iscoming fromthe
engine, standclearofthe vehicle toprevent
getting burned.
. The engine cooling fancan start atany time
when thecoolant temperature exceedspre-
set degrees.
. Becareful nottoallow yourhands, hair,
jewelry orclothing tocome intocontact with,
or toget caught inthe cooling fanordrive
belts.
If your vehicle isoverheating (indicatedbythe high
temperature indicator),or ifyou feel alack ofengine
power, detectunusual noise,etc.,takethefollowing
steps:
1. Safely movethevehicle offthe road away from
traffic.
2. Turn onthe hazard indicator flasherlights.
3. Apply theparking brake.
4. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) position.
Manual Transmission (MT)model: Movetheshift
lever tothe ªNº (Neutral) position.
DO NOTST OP THE ENGINE . 5.
Open allthe windows.
6. Turn offthe airconditioner. Movethetemperature
control tomaximum hotand thefancontrol tohigh
speed.
7. Get outfrom thevehicle.
8. Visually inspectandlisten forsteam orcoolant
escaping fromtheradiator beforeopening the
hood. Wait until nosteam orcoolant canbeseen
before proceeding.
9. Open theengine hood.
10. Visually inspectifthe cooling fanisrunning.
11. Visually inspecttheradiator andradiator hosesfor
leakage.
If the cooling fanisnot running orthe coolant is
leaking, stoptheengine.
12. After theengine coolsdown, checkthecoolant
level inthe reservoir withtheengine running. Do
not open theradiator cap.
13. Add coolant tothe reservoir ifnecessary .
