WARNING LIGHTS
A permanently lit warning light or one flashing, with the engine running, indicates an operating fault of the unit con-cerned. The illumination of certain warning lights may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message o n the multifunction display. Do not ignore this warning: consul t a PEUGEOT dealer.
If the central STOP warning light comes on when you are driving, stop your vehicle immediately, where it is safe to do so.
Central STOP warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the warning lights:
- ''engine oil pressure and temperature'',- "punctured wheel",- "maximum coolant temperature",- 'handbrake'', ''low brake fluid level'', and ''electronic brake force distribution''.You must stop if the light comes on with the engine running.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Engine oil pressure and temperature warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning light.
If this warning light comes on, with the engine running, it indicates one of the following:
- insufficient oil pressure,- a lack of oil in the lubrication circuit. Top up the level,- an oil temperature which is too high. The warning light is acompanied by an audible signal. To lower the oil temperature, reduce your speed. You must stop.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.Service warning light
This comes on for a few sec-onds each time the ignition is switched on.
If this warning light comes on, with the engine running, accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction display, it indicates the occurrence of a problem in one of the systems which does not have a specific warning light.
Consult the message on the multi-function display to identify the sys-tem concerned.
Check:
- the remote control battery,- the pressure of the tyres,- the engine oil level,- the screenwash level,- the condition of the bulbs. For all other cases, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The lighting of this warning light may also indicate the start of saturation of the particle emission filter (Diesel), due to exceptionally prolonged urban driving conditions: low speed, long traffic jams, ...
In order to regenerate the filter, you are advised to drive, as soon as traf-fic conditions permit, at a speed of 35 mph (60 km/h) or more for at least five minutes (until the warning light switches off).
If the warning light remains on, con-tact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Punctured wheel warning light
This comes on for a few sec-onds each time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning light.
If this warning light comes on while the vehicle is moving, it indicates that one or more wheels are punctured.
It is accompanied by an audible sig-nal and a message on the multifunc-tion display locating the wheel con-cerned.
You must stop.
Change the damaged wheel and have it repaired by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Maximum coolant temperature warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning light.
If this warning light comes on, with the engine running, it indicates an abnormal increase in the tempera-ture of the coolant.
You must stop.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
If the warning light remains on or comes on above 8 mph (12 km/h), this indicates an ABS malfunction.
Electronic stability control system (ESP/ASR) warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
While the engine is running and the vehicle is moving, it flashes if the system is activated.
It comes on permanently when it is disarmed.
Battery charge warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
If it comes on, with the engine run-ning, it indicates one of the follow-ing:
- faulty operation of the charging cir-cuit, - slack battery or starter terminals, - a cut or slack alternator belt, - an alternator failure.Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Handbrake, low brake fluid level and Electronic Brake Force Distribution warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
Linked to the central STOP warning light.
If this warning light comes on, with the engine running, it indicates one of the following:
- that the handbrake is applied or not fully released, if the vehicle is mov-ing, - an excessive drop in brake fluid level (if the warning light remains on even when the handbrake is released),- a fault in the Electronic Brake Force Distribution. You must stop.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
However, the vehicle retains conventional servo-assisted braking.
Lighting of this warning light, accom-panied by an audible signal, indicates an ABS fault.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

Low fuel level warning light
This comes on for a few sec-onds each time the ignition is switched on.
When this light first comes on, you have enough fuel to drive approxi-mately 30 miles (50 km) (The tank capacity is approximately 40 litres).
Water in diesel filter indicator**
This comes on for a few sec-onds each time the ignition is switched on.
If it comes on, with the engine run-ning, this indicates that there is a risk of damage to the injection system.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.
Diesel engine pre-heat warning light
Wait until the warning light goes out before starting the engine.
If the temperature is high enough, the warning light comes on for less than one second. You can start the engine without waiting.
Passenger air bag disarmed warning light**
This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on.
If the passenger air bag is disarmed, the warning light remains on.
Always consult a PEUGEOT dealer if the warning light flashes.
Seat belt not fastened warning light
When the ignition is switched on, this warning light comes on if the driver (and/or a passenger) has not fastened his seat belt.
Above 12 mph (20 kmh), this warning light flashes for two minutes accom-panied by an audible signal which becomes progressively louder. Once the two minutes have elapsed, the warning light remains on until the driver (and/or passenger) fastens his seat belt.

Engine oil level indicator
When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approxi-mately 5 seconds after the service indicator display.
Oil level gauge fault
Check the oil level using the dip-stick.
If "OIL--" flashes, this indicates a malfunction of the engine oil level gauge.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.INSTRUMENT PANEL
DISPLAY
After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession:
- service indicator,- engine oil level indicator- total distance recorder (total and trip distances).
Note: the trip distance is displayed for thirty seconds, when the ignition is switched off, on opening and clos-ing the driver's door as wellas on locking the vehicle.
It also displays the "2 Tronic" gear-box positions and operating modes selected, as well as the information relating to the cruise control or speed limiter when one of these functions is active.
The level read on the dip-stick will only be correct if the vehicle is on level ground and the engine has been off for more than 15 minutes.
