FAMILIARISATION Locking or unlocking the tailgate
and the doors
The tailgate is locked or unlocked
using the remote control or from the
lock on the driver's door.
To open the tailgate, press control 1
and raise the tailgate.
1. Opening of the fuel fi ller fl ap.

2. Opening and hooking of the fuel
tank cap.
Tank capacity: approximately 40 litres

Low fuel level warning
light
This comes on for a few sec-
onds each time the ignition is
switched on.
When this light fi rst comes on, you
have enough fuel to drive approxi-
mately 30 miles (50 km) (The tank
capacity is approximately 40 litres).
Water in diesel filter
indicator
This comes on for a few sec-
onds each time the ignition is
switched on.
If it comes on, with the engine running,
this indicates that there is a risk of
damage to the injection system.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.
Diesel engine pre-heat
warning light
Wait until the warning light
goes out before starting the
engine.
If the temperature is high enough,
the warning light comes on for less
than one second. You can start the
engine without waiting. Passenger air bag
disarmed warning light
This comes on for a few sec-
onds each time the ignition is
switched on.
If the passenger air bag is disarmed,
the warning light remains on.
Always consult a PEUGEOT dealer if
the warning light fl ashes.
Seat belt not fastened
warning light
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning light comes
on if the driver (and/or a passenger)
has not fastened his seat belt.
Above 12 mph (20 km/h), this warning
light fl ashes for two minutes accom-
panied by an audible signal which be-
comes progressively louder. Once the
two minutes have elapsed, the warning
light remains on until the driver (and/or
passenger) fastens his seat belt.

The driver must ensure that all
passengers fasten and use the
seat belts correctly. Door open warning
light
This comes on if a door, the
bonnet or the boot is still open.
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), this warning
light is accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the multi-
function display.
"Foot on brake"
warning light
("2 Tronic" gearbox)
When this warning light comes on,
you must put your foot on the brake
(example: when starting the engine).
If you do not put your foot on the
brake, this warning light fl ashes. Front, steering column,
side and curtain air
bags warning light
This comes on for a few seconds each
time the ignition is switched on.
With the engine running, illumination
of this warning light, accompanied by
an audible signal, indicates a fault
in the front, steering column, side or
curtain air bags.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Emission control
system warning light
This comes on each time the
ignition is switched on and
remains on until the engine is
started.
If it comes on, with the engine run-
ning, it indicates a malfunction of the
emission control system.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

ALARM
The alarm offers two types of
protection.
- external ; the alarm sounds if
one of the doors, the bonnet
or the tailgate is opened ,
- internal ; the alarm sounds

if there is air movement in
the passenger compartment
(a broken window or movement
within the car).
The alarm also has an anti-tamper
function.
If there is an attempt to tamper with
the following equipment:
- the wires to the siren or the control unit, the siren sounds
accompanied by fl ashing of the
direction indicators.
- the battery, the siren sounds. Complete setting and
disarming of the alarm
Complete disarming of the alarm
Press the unlocking button on the
remote control.
The direction indicators fl ash for
two seconds.
The red indicator light on the switch

1 goes out.

Note: if the indicator light continues to
fl ash after de-activation of the alarm,
it is a sign that the alarm has been
triggered during your absence. The
fl ashing will stop when the ignition is
switched on.
When the alarm is set,
if a door, the tailgate or
the bonnet is not closed
correctly, the siren sounds
for a moment. If the vehicle is closed
correctly in the following 45 seconds,
the alarm is set. In all cases, the
alarm is set after 45 seconds. Automatic setting
The alarm is set automatically
2 minutes after the last door or the
boot is closed.
To prevent the alarm being triggered
when a door or the boot is opened,
the remote control unlocking button
must be pressed again.
Locking the vehicle without
alarm
To lock the vehicle without activating
the alarm (for example when washing),
insert the key in the lock, then lock it.
Complete setting of the alarm

Switch off the ignition and get out
of the vehicle.
Lock or deadlock the vehicle.
The direction indicators light for
two seconds.
The red indicator light on the switch 1
fl ashes once a second.
5 seconds later, external protection
is set.
45 seconds later, internal protection
is set.

Note: when the alarm is triggered,
the siren sounds for thirty seconds.
However, after the siren stops, the
alarm remains set.

From outside: lift the catch A and
raise the bonnet. Bonnet strut
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
open.
Before closing the bonnet, replace
the strut in its housing.
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel. Check that the
bonnet is properly locked.
OPENING THE BONNET

From inside: pull the handle on the
left-hand side under the fascia.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
If your vehicle is fi tted with an HDI
engine, the fuel circuit must be rep-
rimed if you run out of fuel (refer to
the corresponding graphic).
This system consists of a repriming
pump and a transparent pipe.
1.4 litre Turbo HDI engine

 Open the bonnet.

 Fill the fuel tank with at least
fi ve litres of diesel.

 Squeeze and release the rep-
riming pump until fuel appears in
the transparent pipe.

 Operate the starter until the en-
gine starts.

 Close the bonnet.
1.6 litre Turbo HDI 16V engine

 Open the bonnet.

 Fill the fuel tank with at least
fi ve litres of diesel.

 Unclip the style cover to gain ac-
cess to the repriming pump.

 Squeeze and release the rep-
riming pump until fuel appears
in the transparent pipe with the
green connector.

 Operate the starter until the en-
gine starts.

 Put the style cover back in posi-
tion and clip it in place.

 Close the bonnet.
Opening the bonnet may
cause serious injuries,
please observe the following
recommendations:
- protect your hands and clothing,
- always allow the engine to cool before opening the bonnet,
- place the strut in its housing on the wing correctly,
- check that the bonnet is fi rmly secured in the open position,
- be aware of gusts of wind as they could cause the bonnet to
close suddenly.

A. Manufacturer’s plate.

B. Serial number on the
bodywork (under the
bonnet, at the centre of the
crossmember).

C. Serial number on the fascia
(on the small aperture,
left-hand side).

D. Tyres and paint colour
reference. The label
D on the pillar, near the
left-hand door striker, indicates:
- the wheel and tyre sizes,
- the brands of tyres approved by the manufacturer,
- the tyre pressures (the tyre
pressure must be checked
when the tyre is cold, at least
once a month) ,
- the paint colour reference.
Wheels equipped with 195/50R16
tyres cannot be fi tted with snow
chains.

information.
Low tyre pressures increase
fuel consumption.
